TRIBUTES have poured in for an Irishman who died unexpectedly in Thailand earlier this month.
Greg Cullinane, who is from Parklands Drive in Co Cork, sadly died in Thailand on January 14.
The tragic young man, who was a bricklayer, has been remembered as the “beloved son” of Patricia and the late Sean and the “loving brother” of Ken and Lorraine.
A notice online said: “Sadly missed by his loving mother, brother, sister, nieces, uncles, aunts, sister-in-law, relatives and friends.”
Greg’s body has been repatriated and visitation will take place at O’Connor Bros Funeral Home in Cork tomorrow from 5pm to 6pm.
Requiem Mass will take place at 11am on Thursday at the Church of the Resurrection in Farranree with a funeral afterwards to St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Kilcully.
Greg’s family have asked for family flowers only and asked mourners to instead opt for a donation in the charity of your choice.
Mourners have described Greg as a “very nice guy” and a “lovely young man” following his passing.
One friend said: “Absolutely gutted when hearing the news. We had some great times myself and Greg down throughout the years.
“He had a smile that would light up a room. RIP bud.”
Another mourner said: “My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this heartbreaking time, Greg what a handsome young man.”
Greg’s passing follows the death of two other young Irishmen in Thailand this month.
Robby Kinlan, 21, was found dead in his hotel room on the island of Koh Tao, which is located on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand, on January 9.
The 21-year-old’s body was discovered by staff at the hotel who climbed into the room, which was locked from the inside, when the alarm was raised by Robby’s pal at around 11am.
‘DEVASTATING ACCIDENT’
Cops were not treating the death as suspicious after they discovered no signs of any assault or any indication that the room had been broken into.
Robby’s mum Tracy King confirmed that the initial postmortem results found he died as a result of acute pulmonary cardiac failure.
The young Clare man was laid to rest following a service at the Star of the Sea Church in Quilty last Wednesday.
Separately, Ryan Daly died on January 17 following a “devastating accident” while travelling in Thailand.
Ryan Daly was “pursuing his dream” as he embarked on an “adventure of a lifetime” and set off travelling the world before the fatal incident.
The 27-year-old, who is from Portadown in Co Armagh, was left in critical condition after being involved in the horror accident earlier that week.
