Why men should never marry – Nigerian comedian Ghe Ghe shares

Nigerian comedian Ghe Ghe has sparked a heated conversation following his appearance on Honest Brunch, hosted by Nedu Wazobia.

The comedian didn’t hold back, offering a provocative take on marriage and relationships in modern society, particularly in Nigeria.

“Marriage today is like a trap,” Ghe Ghe declared. “It’s often just a way for women to escape poverty or find someone to fund their lifestyle. Men need to think carefully before walking into this financial burden.”

Nedu, known for his sharp wit and ability to challenge his guests, quickly countered, pointing out that Ghe Ghe’s own father had married his mother. But the comedian stood firm, arguing that marriage has evolved drastically over the years.

“Back then, marriage was a partnership,” he explained. “Women were pillars of support, managing the home, farming, and taking care of the family while men handled leadership. Now, it’s a different story. The dynamic has changed, and not necessarily for the better.”

Ghe Ghe went on to criticize what he sees as materialism in modern relationships, particularly among Nigerian women. “Dating in Nigeria is like signing up for a job interview,” he quipped. “Too many women approach relationships with a sense of entitlement. They treat men as providers, not partners.”

The conversation stirred a blend of laughter and tension among the hosts, with Nedu urging Ghe Ghe to clarify his stance.

“Look, I’m not saying all women are like this,” he clarified. “But the societal expectations placed on men today are overwhelming, and the idea of marriage has shifted from love and partnership to financial transactions.”
