Hoda Kotb may have departed Today, but she has not cut ties with NBC for good. The broadcaster revealed she signed a new deal with the TV network that helped her skyrocket to fame more than a decade ago.
What Is Hoda Kotb’s New Role at ‘Today’?
Hoda revealed that she signed a new deal at NBC for a role that will be similar to the network’s Olympic correspondent, Snoop Dogg.
“I think it’ll be kind of a Snoop-ish role,” she told Page Six in an interview published on January 9, 2025.
Hoda said that her new NBC role will be a bit different from what Today viewers are used to seeing from her, but fans will still see her pop up on the talk show here and there in the future.
“I want to be a supporting character on a team that is already in place so that I’ll come in and just have a role there. And then I’m going to do my ‘Making Space’ podcast, which I enjoy and love so much,” the I Really Needed This Today author told the outlet. “And for the Today show, I think we talked about doing something every four to six weeks, just a little something.”
The outlet also reported that viewers could see her appearing on Today With Jenna & Friends, Jenna Bush Hager’s newly named fourth hour of Today with celebrity guest cohosts at some point. Plus, she’s still keeping in contact with all of her Today colleagues after leaving the show.
Just a few weeks after leaving Today, Hoda reunited with costars Savannah Guthrie and Jenna in a photo posted on her Instagram account.
“I love Wednesdays!! @savannahguthrie @jennabhager. Also remember when you had that big goodbye party and now I am like…… HIIIIIIIIIIII!” Hoda captioned the post.
When Did Hoda Kotb Leave ‘Today’?
Hoda’s final episode of Today was on January 10, 2025. She shed tears as she walked away from the show after 17 years as a cohost. Her motivation for stepping away from the talk show was simple — she wanted to spend more time with her family.
“I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new,” the TV personality, who shares kids Haley and Hope with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman, told her cohosts in September 2024 when she officially announced she would be leaving the show in 2025.
“Obviously I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have,” she added. “I feel like we only have a finite amount of time.”
Hoda Kotb Will Be Focusing on the Wellness Space
Hoda will be venturing into the wellness space in the coming months. She spoke about her interest in the wellness sphere and testing out different practices in her own life.
“I tried different things, and I noticed my body was calmer,” Hoda explained. “I was getting sick less. I was feeling better. I was a better parent, a better friend, a better sister, a better daughter, and I thought, ‘All these tiny things I was doing, day after day, were helping to change me inside.’”
“I want to work in that space,” she said. “I want to start things. I’ve got things that are percolating inside that I’m going to hopefully have fully formed soon.”
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Hoda said that she is starting her own wellness app.
“I am starting a wellness app and company that will involve retreats and a podcast and all kinds of things that we can get together, do things that I love,” she told host Kelly Clarkson. “It’s not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but this is something that when you leave, you’ll go like, ‘Oh my gosh. I feel transformed. I feel different.’”
