A nail lamp is a specialised tool used while curing gel nail polish.

These lamps emit strong UV or LED light which helps to harden or set the gel polish quickly.

They also consist of a battery that gets heated when plugged in.

And the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued the recall due to safety concerns.

The product’s capacitors, used between the primary circuit and the secondary circuit, are faulty, and this may cause users to receive an electric shock.

The CCPC said: The risk reported to the CCPC is electric shock.

“The capacitors used between the primary circuit and the secondary circuit are inadequate.

“The user can access live parts and receive an electric shock.”

The brand is CHENGRUI, while the model type/number is Sun C2.

The barcode is unknown.

The CCPC is now warning consumers to stop using the product immediately.

Wish may be contacted by buyers who want a replacement product, refund, or store credit.

The CCPC added: “You may wish to contact Wish to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on the Wish platform.”

This comes after a warning was issued to Irish households, renters, and landlords as hundreds of dangerous gas hobs are in homes across Ireland right now.

Dangerous gas hobs alert

The CCPC shared the alert and advised people to check their gas hobs due to a potentially fatal fault.

A potentially fatal fault in some models could cause gas poisoning, fires, explosions and death.

The group urged people to “act now and act swiftly” to protect themselves and their household.

Some gas hobs have a faulty elbow joint that may fracture, causing gas to leak.

This issue affects the following brands (specific models only) Belling, ElectriQ, Cooke and Lewis, Caple, Russell Hobbs and Comfee.

If you own or rent a property with a gas hob, check the brand and model now.

If your hob is affected, stop using it immediately; it is unsafe.

Contact the manufacturer for a free inspection and repair by a registered gas installer.

For those who are renting, the CCPC urged them to make contact with their landlord or estate agency.
