They picked up many but were stopped from getting others by halls of residence staff.

Border Force, alerted to deliveries from Canada to Leeds, tipped off local cops who identified the pair from CCTV.

In all 63 parcels were seized.

The pair admitted drug offences and were jailed for three years at the city’s crown court.

Mitigating, Joseph Hart said “naive and lonely” Dong got involved for glamour and status.

Judge Mansell praised officers involved in the case at their sentencing, saying the pair had found a “novel method” for flooding the market with illegal drugs.

He said: “It was a very effective and well-executed operation that brought an end to a very lucrative skunk cannabis business.

“It was a novel method for flooding the market. The importation of cannabis previously in lorries from the continent has become far less prevalent.

“This method was novel and I commend the team for the investigation.”
