Top comedian reveals entire episode of new show was AXED for being ‘75% Gregg Wallace’

DAVE Gorman has revealed that an entire episode of his upcoming series, Modern Life Is Goodish, was scrapped due to its heavy focus on TV presenter Gregg Wallace.

Dave, 53, explained that the missing episode was effectively “75 percent about Gregg Wallace,” making it impossible to air following recent controversies surrounding the former MasterChef host.

Gregg stepped away from MasterChef at the end of 2024 after facing allegations of inappropriate sexual jokes and lewd comments on set. He has denied these claims.

Speaking to The Guardian, Gorman said: “We made four [episodes], but one of them is 75 percent about Gregg Wallace. It’s in the bin.”

The episode, which was filmed before the allegations surfaced, portrayed him in an affectionate light.

In the wake of the controversy, airing such content was no longer viable.

“It’s sort of taking the p**s out of him but in a very loving way, tongue in cheek,” Dave explained.

He elaborated on the episode’s structure, adding: “There’s a routine that sets up the idea that I’ve invented a product. I need to get a celebrity endorsement for it.

“The punchline tying all the routines together is that he’s filmed an advert for it.”

Attempts to salvage the episode by editing Gregg out proved futile.

Dave added: “It’s a structured piece with a flow to it. Every routine connects to every other routine.”

With characteristic humor, he joked: “What I’m saying is: I’m the real victim.”

Modern Life Is Goodish originally aired for five seasons between 2013 and 2017.

Each episode featured a blend of Dave’s stand-up comedy and PowerPoint-based presentations he made tackling modern cultural oddities.

The show’s upcoming revival was initially set to include four new episodes, but with one now scrapped, the season will go ahead with just three.

Modern Life Is Goodish season six launches on February 24 on Sky at 9pm.
