Washington, D.C. woman claims $50,000 prize on $50,000 Cash instant ticket
A frequent player of Maryland Lottery scratch-offs was sitting on a bigtime pay day for weeks, unaware she won a $50,000 top prize in the $50,000 Cash game. When the Washington, D.C. resident finally circled back to Maryland to check the instant ticket for a win, she happily learned about her windfall.
The out-of-state player bought the instant ticket at Seat Pleasant BP located at 5818 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Seat Pleasant. The winner’s daughter, who was home from college, had a hair-styling appointment and they were on the way when they stopped at the retailer to randomly select the $20 scratch-off.
Three weeks later, the longtime social worker was off duty when she took a few minutes to visit a Maryland Lottery retailer. She scanned the $50,000 Cash scratch-off at the store and in that magical moment, knew she had a big winner. She immediately rushed home to share the news with her daughter, who thought she was joking.
The D.C. native plans to use her winnings to pay debts, make some investments and help others.
Her lucky retailer, Seat Pleasant BP, is also a winner. The Prince George’s County store will collect a $500 Lottery bonus for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
The $50,000 Cash game went on sale in December of 2022 with 160 $50,000 prizes. There are still 68 of those remaining, along with other prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
