During an interview with SPORTbible prior to his final Survivor Series appearance, The Undertaker spoke about his final wrestling opponent, AJ Styles. The Demon from Death Valley admitted that he wished Styles had been in the WWE 10-15 years before his actual debut in 2016. something that he told on several occasions.

I’ve told him on several occasions, ‘Man I wish you’d have gotten here 10-15 years earlier!

The Undertaker claimed that he was a huge admirer of The Phenomenal One’s in-ring work ethic and called him the ‘modern-day Shawn Michaels.’ However, he did want to have a lengthy feud with Styles, unlike the one they had in 2020.

I love the way he works, I love what he does in the ring, I’ve kinda called him the modern day Shawn Michaels. As proud as I am of the Boneyard, I’d have loved to have an extended programme with AJ Styles.

The Undertaker and AJ Styles were set to battle in a traditional wrestling match at WrestleMania 36. However, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE changed it to the cinematic Boneyard match, which received massive praise from the audience. This was The Undertaker’s last match as he retired at the 2020 WWE Survivor Series event and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022.

While The Undertaker might have ridden into the sunset and had a big WWE regret, much like another top star, The Rock, AJ Styles continues to be a part of the WWE active roster. The Phenomenal One was out of action due to injury in October 2024.

He made his return as a surprise entrant in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match. AJ Styles then moved to Monday Night RAW on Netflix and announced that he has a lot of things to do on his checklist, starting with competing at WrestleMania 41.

Later that night, Styles was confronted by the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, Bron Breakker. This could be the early seed planted for a possible feud between the veteran Styles and the rising star Bron Breakker, culminating in a title match at WWE’s premier event this year, WrestleMania 41, set to take place on April 19 & 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
