Christina Haack (formerly Hall) revealed she never wanted to divorce her estranged husband, Josh Hall, during the series premiere of The Flip Off.
During the Wednesday, January 29, episode of HGTV show, viewers watched Christina, 41, tell her costar and first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, that she and Josh, 44, had called it quits.
“I never wanted to get divorced,” Christina admitted in a confessional. “I’m the only person in my family to ever get a divorce so I just felt like it’s safer to be back in a relationship but ultimately that was not safe either.”
The Flip Off was originally announced to follow Tarek, 43, and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, competing against Christina and Josh in a house flipping competition. However, Josh eventually left the show once he and Christina split.
Both Christina and Josh filed for divorce in July 2024, and they have gone on to make many nasty accusations against each other in legal paperwork and on social media.
On January 12, Christina admitted her and Josh’s divorce battle had gotten even uglier and the end was nowhere in sight.
“[We’re] not even close,” she said during an appearance on Radio Andy’s Jeff Lewis Live about any chance of a settlement. “We’re going to be going to trial, I hear. He doesn’t want to do mediation. It’s gonna be fun. Can’t wait.”
She then admitted she was worried about potentially having to pay Josh’s attorney fees. “They haven’t ordered me yet, but he’s been asking. I’ve already had to give a little something,” she said.
The concerns were especially alarming, as she claimed that Josh had been irresponsible with the money she had already given him. “I gave him money to live and then he bought a Bentley, but then he also doesn’t have a job,” Christina said. “But he drives a Bentley, so I’m sure he’s pulling a lot of chicks.”
Before the show’s premiere, Christina admitted she knew that she and Josh were going to call it quits once they started filming.
“I kind of knew it was going to happen,” she told People in an interview published on January 29.
She added that both Tarek and Heather, 37, were aware of her issues with Josh before they officially pulled the plug on their relationship. “I’d been talking to both of them about it,” Christina continued. “They were aware that there were issues and it’s something that we had to sidebar on in regards to how all of us were going to handle even filming with Josh because there was already some difficulty there.
“So they weren’t surprised,” she added of her ex and his current wife. “And they were also very, very supportive.”
While Christina didn’t want to get divorced, she said that starring on The Flip Off helped her through the difficult time. “It definitely was a distraction,” the TV personality said. “I think it relieved that stress. The show was stressful in itself for different reasons not even having to do with our dynamic. Just flipping a house that fast and I haven’t flipped in a long time. So I think it was a good distraction.”
