Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae El Moussa (née Young) have a flippin’ cute family! The Flip Off stars tied the knot in 2021 after two years of dating and later welcomed son Tristan in January 2023. Their journey to bringing Tristan into the world wasn’t easy, as the couple first underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) before their son was conceived naturally, and Heather had a frightening birth experience. However, the child arrived safely and changed Tarek and Heather’s lives for the better.
Who Is Tarek El Moussa’s Son With Heather Rae El Moussa?
Tarek and Heather announced that they were expecting their first child together in July 2022, telling People that it was a “huge shock.” Tristan arrived on January 31, 2023, with the couple announcing the news on Instagram. However, they didn’t share his name or show his face at the time.
“Our baby boy is here,” the Flipping El Moussas stars wrote. “Mama & baby are happy, healthy, tired but doing well. Our hearts are so happy.”
Two weeks later, the couple announced that their son’s name was Tristan Jay El Moussa. Heather revealed on Instagram that Tarek was originally supposed to be named Tristan, while her father’s middle name is also Jay.
The Selling Sunset star also opened up about her frightening birth experience. “We were at my final doctor appointment and our Dr. rushed us to the hospital to get monitored because Tristan’s movements had slowed down,” she wrote. “Tristan’s heart rate was dropping very low every time I’d push & was staying low. Which was terrifying.”
Thankfully, Tristan “came out healthy and beautiful,” Heather continued. “I was in a state of shock, it was a surreal experience. I was emotional and drained & so in love already.”

Tarek and Heather were shocked by their pregnancy because they were going through a round of IVF at the time, the model told People. “We just weren’t expecting this. We had just gone through IVF. We had embryos on ice. We had a plan. I think when you least expect it and there’s no stress in your life, the world just brought us what was meant to be,” Heather said. “I’m so excited that it happened like this.”
Heather later told Jennifer Hudson on The Jennifer Hudson Show in May 2023 that it was “a dream come true.”
Do Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae El Moussa Want More Kids?
Now that Heather and Tarek are more than one year into raising Tristan, fans have wondered if they will be expanding their family again. In a September 2024 interview with E! News, Heather said, “You know my answer, come on. We’d have to talk daddy into it.”
However, Tarek might not need too much convincing. “Who knows?” he said. “You just never know what’s gonna happen. I finally feel ready to be a father in my 40s. It just took a while.”
Tarek shares daughter Taylor and son Brayden with ex-wife Christina Haack, who also stars on The Flip Off. Heather said that being a stepmom was great, but welcoming her own child was “better than I thought it was going to be.”
“I love being a stepmom, but I met them later in life — Brayden was 3, Taylor was 8 — and I never experienced the baby stage and it’s better than I could have ever imagined it,” she added.
