Suranne Jones returning for THIRD season of Vigil after series two beat massive reality show in the ratings

FANS of Suranne Jones rejoice because I can exclusively reveal that she is returning for a new series military murder thriller Vigil.

The actress is reprising her role as Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva, who we were introduced to in 2021, with a sequel two years later.

Suranne says she ‘can’t wait to return to Vigil series three’[/caption]

Also returning for the new series, which will start filming later this year in Scotland, is Rose Leslie as Detective Inspector Kirsten Longacre, who is also Amy’s lover.

Suranne said: “I can’t wait to return to Vigil series three, see our brilliant team in Scotland and work with Rose again.”

Rose added: “I’m excited to get stuck into another season of Vigil. This time, Kirsten joins Amy on what’s set to be Vigil’s most high-stakes mission yet!”

The first episode of the most recent series of Vigil had a total of 8.8million viewers which is impressive, as the first episode of 2023’s I’m A Celebrity – which rivalled the BBC one show on a Sunday night – got the smaller figure of 8.7million.

The new case in series three takes us to an Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead.

The pair must catch the killer and diffuse an international conflict, framed by the power struggle for resources in the polar climate, with their careers and relationship on the line.

If that all sounds too serious, Suranne will also be appearing in BBC Three comedy drama Film Club later in the year.

Yes, Julia is Keeley a goner

FANS have long speculated over whether Keeley Hawes’ Julia Montague did really die in The Bodyguard.

Many believed the fictional MP survived the explosion that seemingly killed her in the 2018 BBC One drama, as no funeral was shown.

The theory grew more legs after Keeley’s appearance as the character in a Comic Relief skit the following year.

Now, she has set the record straight, saying bosses had run out of cash to give her a big send-off.

She told Waitrose’s Dish podcast: “Everybody thought I was still alive, but in the script there was, not a state funeral, but a big funeral because of her being the Home Secretary, but then they didn’t have the budget to shoot it.

“If there had been a bit more budget, there wouldn’t have been that question about whether I was coming back.”

RUSSELL TOVEY will play a senior Met police officer in a new drama series about the 7/7 London bombings.

Suspect: The Shooting Of Jean Charles De Menezes will tell the story of the Brazilian man wrongly labelled a terrorist suspect and killed by police a fortnight after 52 people lost their lives in the attack on three Tube lines and a London bus.

Isle duo dogged by mutt

THEY survived weeks in the villa while others were voted off, but Love Island: All Stars winners Casey O’Gorman and Gabby Allen face their greatest relationship test.

The duo will head home from South Africa to start their life as a couple back on UK soil.

But it could spell disaster if Gabby’s number-one boy – her dog – doesn’t approve.

She said: “If Oscar doesn’t like Casey, he’s got to go!

“I’m so excited to see him, and he loved everyone but when you come through the door, you have to greet him, give him a cuddle and sit with him – and he sleeps on the bed.”

Casey added: “I love dogs, and I’ve got two labs so fine by me (if he sleeps on the bed). He’s the boss!”

Caravan dicey for Dyers

DANNY and Dani Dyer may have secured a new series all about the Great British holiday – but that doesn’t mean they think it’s going to be any good.

I exclusively revealed yesterday that the father-daughter duo are creating their dream mobile home destination for new Sky series The Dyers’ Caravan Park, launching later this year.

Discussing the series, Danny said: “I love a caravan, I love a caravan site, so I will try and make the greatest of British holidays cool again.

“Now this could be a triumph; or a complete fing failure. But there’s only one way to find out and that’s to roll the fing dice.”

Dani added: “Has my dad got what it takes to make a success of this? I think he has, just so long as people don’t decide to go to Magaluf.”

JUST days after the sixth series was won by Pufferfish Samantha Barks, ITV has confirmed The Masked Singer will be back next year.

A source said of the ratings hit: “The calibre of celebrities have been really high and there are hopes to maintain those levels for the next series.”

SEX Education’s Aimee Lou Wood will star in new comedy-drama, Film Club with House Of The Dragon’s Ralph Davis.

Co-written by the pair, it is about Evie and pal Noa, who must confront their feelings for each other when he gets a job far away and will air on BBC Three later this year.
