Vinnie, from Glasgow’s Ruchazie area, was immediately showered with golden confetti after bringing the house down at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

He said: “Everybody was on their feet, people were crying and cheering and I just thought, ‘This is crazy’.

“It was incredible, my mum was in tears and kept saying ‘I can’t believe this’.”

Music mogul Simon, 65, rushed onto the stage to embrace Vinnie, telling him: “I’m speechless, but you deserve this.

“That was incredible.”

He then pointed to the rapturous audience and said: “Look at what you’ve done.”

After bagging a photo with show hosts Ant and Dec, Vinnie was mobbed by excited fans at the stage door before heading off to celebrate at Nando’s with mum Ann, dad Joe and sister Hannah.

He said: “I was sitting all these people started coming over asking for selfies.

“I’m a big friendly character who will talk to anybody.

“If people love what I do, then I’m happy to give back and take a picture.

“My dad joked, ‘Right, you can get your selfies later, just eat your chicken’.”

We told previously how Vinnie took to the stage months after singing at his tragic brother Frankie’s funeral.

He was left devastated after Frankie, 47, died from a suspected irregular heartbeat.

Vinnie told how the only thing he remembers from his BGT audition was getting a “cuddle” from Simon.

He said: “He was the one I wanted to impress, I would have been happy even if he just gave me a nice comment.

“But the fact he hit the Golden Buzzer has completely changed my life.”

Vinnie is keeping tight-lipped about his next performance ahead of a meeting in London next month about the live shows.

He said: “I have a few tricks up my sleeves so watch this space.”
