Rod Stewart has been celebrating his 80th birthday in incredible style this month, blowing millions on yachts and fancy treats galore while vowing there’s still plenty of life in him!
“Rod has always loved the good life, and these days being able to share it with all his loved ones is what makes him happiest,” an insider exclusively tells Closer of the birthday festivities. “He invited all of his kids and their partners and their kids, and then rented the biggest yacht he could find to carry them all around the Caribbean for the vacation of his dreams.”
Rod turned 80 on January 10, pulling out all of the stops to celebrate the milestone.
“He’s worth hundreds of millions so money was literally no object, they’ve all had the best of everything from food to champagne and done plenty of shopping with his credit card too,” the insider adds. “He loves spoiling his kids and feels so grateful to have such a loving family around him. He also feels blessed to be 80 and feeling in such great shape. Despite what people might say about him slowing down or being past his prime, he insists he’s still going strong and says he has more juice than punks a fraction of his age.”
The “Maggie May” singer, who is a father to eight kids, partied with musician Ronnie Wood in photos shared on Instagram.
“Really fun night celebrating Rod’s 80th! @sirrodstewart @penny.lancaster@sallywood1,” Ronnie, 77, captioned a series of pictures from the event.
Rod appropriately wore a pin on his jacket that said “Birthday Bhoy” and featured the logo and colors of the Celtic F.C. soccer team.
On his Instagram account, the “Sailing” crooner thanked his fans for their birthday tributes.
“Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes – 80 years young!” Rod captioned a series of photos snapped over the years of his legendary career. “What an incredible journey it’s been – from unforgettable moments on and off the stage to earning some truly special honors along the way. But above all, my greatest joy has always been performing for you. Cheers to the memories we’ve made and the ones still to come! #80YearsOfRod.”
Months prior to his birthday celebration, Rod made headlines for saying that he was in the “final 15 years” of his life during a July 2024 interview with The Sun.
“I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear,” he told the outlet. “We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can.”
“I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy,” Rod continued.
Still, he said that after every show, he and his band “go mad” and celebrate in their own special way.
“You’re talking to Rod Stewart here, mate. We go mad after every show,” the London-born star said of his post-show ritual. “There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians and I make them drink. We absolutely love it.”
