Quincy Jr/Sr High Students Shine at CTE Month Welding Event

February is Career Technical Education (CTE) Month!

Quincy Jr/Sr High School Ag Mechanics students recently participated in the 2025 ARC Exposure event at Butte College, where they honed their skills in multiple welding processes, including Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), and Oxy Fuel Cutting (OFC).

Over two days, students received hands-on training from industry professionals, gaining valuable experience in advanced welding techniques. They also toured a custom fabrication shop in Oroville that produces everything from small components to large structural steel members for buildings and operates as a public metal supplier. The efficiency and precision of their processes left a lasting impression on the students.

Additionally, students had the opportunity to observe a PG&E pipe welding demonstration, providing insight into real-world field applications and career opportunities.

To top it all off, Quincy students had great luck in the event raffle, bringing home an array of new welding gear to keep!

Big thanks to Ag Mechanics teacher Adam Wolosz for inspiring and supporting our students!
