Renowned football enthusiast and Yadah FC owner, Prophet Walter Magaya, has taken a significant step toward improving Zimbabwe’s sports infrastructure by partnering with the Kadoma City Council to renovate Rimuka Stadium. The stadium, which last hosted top-flight football in 2008, is set to undergo a much-needed facelift.
During a visit to the venue on Tuesday, Walter Magaya expressed his dedication to reviving the stadium and ensuring it meets the required standards set by football authorities.
“We are partnering with the Kadoma City Council to revamp Rimuka Stadium and ensure it meets the required standards set by football authorities,” Walter Magaya stated. “As the Heart Group, we are fully committed to this project and ready to begin renovations as early as tomorrow.”
This initiative comes at a crucial time when Zimbabwean football infrastructure has been under scrutiny, with several stadiums failing to meet international standards. Walter Magaya’s involvement in the project brings renewed hope for the return of top-tier football to Kadoma, which has been absent for over a decade.
Prophet Walter Magaya also revealed that he is working in close collaboration with the newly elected Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president, Nqobile Magwizi, to enhance football infrastructure across the country. “I’m working closely with the new ZIFA president. My visit to Rimuka Stadium has his full support because I informed him of my plans for this project,” Walter Magaya added.
This partnership between a key private investor and local football authorities signals a positive shift toward addressing the long-standing infrastructure challenges that have hindered the growth of Zimbabwean football. Walter Magaya’s experience in football development, coupled with his financial commitment, is expected to yield tangible improvements in stadium conditions.
Following his visit to Rimuka Stadium, Walter Magaya proceeded to Kwekwe to inspect progress at Chahwanda Stadium (Heart Main), a new sports facility currently under construction. The project, spearheaded by Walter Magaya’s Heart Group, is progressing well and is expected to become a key sporting venue upon completion.
Chahwanda Stadium, once completed, is anticipated to provide world-class facilities for both local and international sporting events. This aligns with Walter Magaya’s broader vision of elevating Zimbabwe’s footballing standards and providing professional players with better training and matchday environments.
The renovation of Rimuka Stadium will not only benefit Yadah FC but also provide a much-needed venue for other football teams and sporting activities in Kadoma. The return of top-flight football to Rimuka will rekindle local enthusiasm for the sport, boost tourism, and create economic opportunities for vendors, transport operators, and other stakeholders in the region.
Sports infrastructure has long been a neglected aspect of Zimbabwe’s football development, with many stadiums falling into disrepair. By taking proactive steps to restore Rimuka Stadium, Walter Magaya is setting a precedent for private-public partnerships in football development.
With the full backing of ZIFA and the Kadoma City Council, the renovation of Rimuka Stadium is expected to commence imminently. If successful, this project could serve as a blueprint for future collaborations aimed at upgrading sports facilities nationwide.
Walter Magaya’s commitment to improving football infrastructure in Zimbabwe is evident, and his involvement in such projects continues to demonstrate his passion for the sport. With work set to begin soon, the people of Kadoma can look forward to witnessing the revival of Rimuka Stadium and the return of top-tier football to their city.
