The brief summary spoilers of One Piece chapter 1140 have finally been released on the internet and the events of the chapter will bring a new shift to the narrative considering the development in the Elbaph arc. From the introduction of two new God’s Knights to Luffy battling it out with Gaban, the One Piece chapter 1140 storyline feels truly exciting to me.
The events of the upcoming chapter have also caused major confusion among the One Piece fans including myself, specifically within the power scaling of the series. The chapter has hinted that Gaban might have the power to overshadow Luffy even in his Gear 5 form and I feel this has disrupted Luffy’s Nika transformation and Gaban’s strength in One Piece.
However, the biggest question that this battle has raised for me includes another One Piece character who has yet to showcase the full extent of his power. This character is none other than Shanks whose true power might just seem way too much for the series and could cause major disappointment among One Piece fans.
Gaban might overpower Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation
The Elbaph arc in One Piece saw the biggest twist with the introduction of Scopper Gaban, which was hinted way back. While we were dealing with the excitement of his official introduction, Eiichiro Oda introduced a new twist with Gaban challenging Luffy for the key to unlock Loki in One Piece chapter 1139. The spoilers of One Piece chapter 1140 gave a little insight into this thrilling fight.
The spoilers of One Piece chapter 1140 revealed that as the duel between Gaban and Luffy began, Gaban controlled most of the fight and hit Luffy multiple times. Not only that, their duel reached a level where Luffy got so frustrated that he unlocked his Gear 5 form and Zoro had to join Luffy in taking down the left-hand man of Gol D. Roger in One Piece.
However, the spoilers also hinted that before the battle between the three strong One Piece characters could have moved any further, Gaban decided to surrender and let Luffy take the key. While in some way Luffy won the battle, I felt like Gaban could have easily taken on Luffy’s Gear 5 and Roronoa Zoro at the same time.
Gaban and Luffy’s battle might cause problems for Shanks
Although the spoilers of One Piece chapter 1140 hint that Gaban might be more powerful than Gear 5 Luffy, previous events have confirmed that he is not as strong as Shanks.

It was proved when Gaban himself revealed that every character on Elbaph (including him) was unable to imprison Loki and Shanks was the only one capable of doing so.
Thus, at this point, I assume that Shanks might be even more powerful than Gear 5 Luffy which could cause a major problem in the power scaling of One Piece. As both of them hold the same status as Emperor of the Sea, this could disrupt the power balance in the future of One Piece.
Also, there have been speculations about Shanks losing to Blackbeard in the future, which would also not make sense now. Thus, Oda needs to clear out the power scaling confusion in One Piece before Shanks enters the central storyline as his role within the narrative is quite crucial, especially in the final saga.
