Brandon Sklenar’s stand on Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni drama is infuriating for Candace Owens after he recently backtracked his support for Lively. Sklenar, who starred alongside Lively and Baldoni, came to Lively’s support when she faced backlash during the promotions of It Ends With Us.
He even shared Lively’s complaint against Baldoni on his Instagram stories, making it almost clear that he was Team Blake the whole time. However, he recently took a more neutral stance when asked about the drama, which did not sit well with Owens. She called him a coward for not acknowledging that he might be wrong in taking sides early in the drama.

After Taylor Swift and Colleen Hoover, it is Brandon Sklenar‘s turn to slowly pull himself away from the It Ends With Us drama. Sklenar was among the cast members who allegedly supported Blake Lively from the beginning. When Lively filed the complaint against Justin Baldoni, he posted an Instagram story, “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, READ THIS.” (via Variety).
Despite suggesting that he was Team Blake through this story, Sklenar has recently changed his story. While promoting the second season of his series, 1923, CBS Mornings host Gayle King asked Sklenar whether he was “Team Blake or Team Justin” in the ongoing legal drama. Sklenar responded with a laugh, sharing that he was “Team It Ends With Us.”
Sklenar’s move was more diplomatic, as he shared how the legal drama was actually taking away the message of the film. He shared that he did the movie because he personally knew someone who went through what Lily Bloom experienced in the movie. However, he shared that it was unfortunate how the story got convoluted after the legal drama between Lively and Baldoni. He shared:
I just want people to remember why we made the movie in the first place and what it stands for, and just keeping the focus on that. I have someone very close to me who’s gone through what [Lively’s character Lily is] going through for a long time, and I’ve been on the front lines helping her navigate that space, so that movie meant a lot to me and it means a lot to her.
It was one of the reasons that me doing the movie gave her the strength to change her life. It’s unfortunate that things get taken away from what the ethos of that thing is and it gets convoluted
While Sklenar took a neutral stand, many fans accused him of slowly pulling away from the controversy after initially supporting Lively. Candace Owens, who has been covering the drama for a long time now, slammed Sklenar for his new neutral stance.
Candace Owens calls Brandon Sklenar a coward
Candace Owens was infuriated with Brandon Sklenar’s “I’m Team It Ends With Us” comment on CBS Mornings. In her YouTube video, she accused Sklenar of taking Lively’s side initially due to all the love-bombing from Ryan Reynolds and Lively. She claimed that Lively and Reynolds lured Sklenar with a WME membership and more projects in Hollywood.
While Owens appreciated that Sklenar is jumping ship on the legal drama, she is not a fan of how he is doing it. Owens shared it would’ve been respectful if he publicly acknowledged that Lively and Reynolds tricked him into taking their sides. She called him a coward for subtly changing his stance to a more neutral one. She shared in her video:
No Brandon, you’re a coward. You’re a coward because you are still being controlled by power. I suppose somewhere deep down there’s a good person in there. […] What Brandon is doing is not respectable. […] He is afraid of [Ari Emanuel] because WME is his agency. So he’s got to now remain neutral. If you stayed neutral from the beginning that would be fine. You weren’t ‘Team It Ends With Us’, you were ‘Team Put Baldoni in the Basement’.
So I’m not a fan of what you’re doing. Like I said I suppose you’re probably a good person behind the scenes. I’ve seen some of your red-carpet interviews you don’t seem to be like super wokey and annoying. But what you did was wrong and when you make a mistake the best thing you can do is have the humility to admit it.
Sklenar returned to his role as Spencer Dutton in the Yellowstone spin-off, 1923. His association with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in the series proves that he was already a rising star before his association with It Ends With Us. Sklenar’s best move to continue on that track would be to avoid the controversy entirely.
A trial in the legal case between Lively and Baldoni is set for March 9, 2026.
