TODAY’S WEATHER
Today will start blustery here in the Republic paired with “squally rain”.
Those conditions will dissipate as the morning goes on turning into sunny spells with showers in the southwest.
By evening it should be mostly dry in 11C to 14C temperatures.
However, weather expert Alan O’ Reilly of Carlow weather warned one spot is set to be hit by “a lot” of lightening before winds pick back up tonight.
He said: “That was a noisy night and heavy rain crossing the country this morning but it’s very mild this morning.
“Good sunny spells developing with odd shower but stronger winds and more heavy rain arrives tonight. A lot of lightning strikes out to the Southwest of Ireland.”
Tonight night will see heavy rainfall move in from the south after a dry start to the night.
Spot flooding is a possibility amid these “heavy” falls.
Temperatures remaining mild overnight at 9C to 12C but paired with “fresh to strong” winds.
FRIDAY’S OUTLOOK
More “heavy” rain on Friday before brighter weather extends from the west as the morning progresses.
The last of the rain should clear from the east coast by morning leaving sunshine in 10C to 13C temperatures.
That sunshine on Friday will still be paired with “gusty” winds as they pick up ahead of the weekend.
Friday night will be cooler than previous nights in 4C to 7C temperatures but weather will remain clear.
