A MAJOR probe has been launched after a PSNI officer was “kicked multiple times in the head”.
The assault occurred as part of two separate incidents on Wednesday that left seven officers injured.

Two people have been charged with assaults on police arising from the two separate incidents
The PSNI team shared an images of the injuries sustained by the officer who was kicked in the head during the two incidents.
Blood can be see in the officer’s hairline and forehead in the gruesome snap.
In the first incident a man, 25, has been charged with three counts of assault on police and one count of disorderly behaviour.
The charges relate to an incident that occurred in Waterside on Wednesday.
He will appear in court on March 12.
In the second incident 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with multiple counts of assault and attempted assault after an incident in Cityside, Derry.
The incident also occurred on Wednesday morning.
She has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault on police and criminal damage.
She is due to appear in court this morning in relation to the charges.
The pair were charged before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court.
In a statement the PSNI said all charges will be reviewed by Public Prosecution Service.
The statement, issued yesterday, read: “Two people have been charged to appear before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court with offences, including assault on police, following two separate incidents in the city during the early hours of Wednesday, 19 February which left seven officers injured.
“A man, aged 25 years old, has been charged with three counts of assault on police and one count of disorderly behaviour in relation to an incident in the Waterside.
“He is scheduled to appear before the court on 12 March.
“In a separate, unrelated incident in the Cityside, also on Wednesday morning, 19 February, a 33-year-old woman has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault on police and criminal damage.
“She is scheduled to appear before the court tomorrow, Thursday 20 February.
“As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”
