According to the Press and Journal, the shutter has been pulled down.

The publication reports a notice has been placed on the door reading: “Important announcement. Subway Union Square is now permanently closed.

“We appreciate your support and loyalty over the years.

“While this location is no longer open, we look forward to welcoming you at our other city centre branches.

“Thank you for your continued support, and we can’t wait to serve you at our other locations.”

Elsewhere in the city, an exciting three-floor go-kart track is reportedly set to be installed in a former John Lewis store.

It’s understood plans have been lodged to transform the iconic store on George Street, Aberdeen.

But after lying empty and being used as a Covid vaccine centre, the retail unit could re-open as an entertainment venue.

Building owners EP Properties are hoping to gain planning permission to repurpose the 200,000 sq ft Norco House, according to the Press and Journal.

The publication also reports that the building could house an arcade, party area and lounge.

It’s thought the elevators will be ripped out to create lanes for drivers to access the different upper levels.

Also proposed is a pub, with a back-of-house section featuring a kitchen and bar area.

The plans are now being reviewed by council planning officers.

Meanwhile, a Glasgow restaurant is launching a pop-up chicken shop – but you’ll have to be quick.
