Jenna Bush Hager got candid about her marriage to husband Henry Hager during a touching moment on Today With Jenna & Friends.
Jenna, 43, was joined by guest cohost Kelsea Ballerini in a segment where they talked about their relationships on Monday, January 27. Kelsea, 31, is currently dating Outer Banks’ Chase Stokes.
“In my relationship what I have learned the most is the way that you can mirror someone,” the “Penthouse” singer said. “Like when you really allow yourself to be fully yourself with your partner it really is a mirror system and you can help each other know each other better.”
Jenna then praised Chase, 32, for being “so supportive” of Kelsey, something the former first daughter deems a “secret” to a healthy relationship.
“Part of it is choosing the right person because they make you feel — they’re supportive, but they also make you feel like you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing because then you can do it well,” Jenna said about having a successful marriage.
The Sisters First author has been married to Henry, 46, since 2008. They share three children: Mila, Poppy and Hal.
“We always say, I want to make him feel like a superhero and vice versa,” Kelsea chimed in.
Jenna pointed out that the sentiment was rather emotional, saying, “OK everybody is crying.”
Kelsea was just one of the celebrity cohosts joining Jenna for Today’s fourth hour over the past few weeks following Hoda Kotb’s departure from the show. Others who have slid into the seat next to Jenna so far have included Eva Longoria, Keke Palmer, Taraji P. Henson, Scarlett Johansson and more.
That same day, the TV host shared a montage of romantic photos from a vacation with her hubby on Instagram.
“Cold day in NYC… dreaming about the Cayman cookout!” Jenna captioned the series of photos.
The happy duo wore their best vacation looks as they spent time together in paradise.
“Magical moments in paradise!” one person wrote, while another said, “Such great memories. I could use a sunny vacation right about now.”
In May 2024, Jenna shared a similar photo dump on Instagram to celebrate Henry’s birthday.
“Happiest birthday to the best who never took to social media! Henry Hager we [heart emoji] you with all we are! Been together for 20 birthdays…..(still feel 26!!)” she wrote alongside the series of pictures.
In the past, Jenna remarked that one of the reasons why her marriage with Henry is so strong is because of some advice he received.
“Somebody gave Henry really good advice,” she said during an October 2024 episode of Today. “Honestly, I know the reason why we’re married. There’s many [reasons], I don’t want to downplay all of his great qualities, but one of them was he knew how to play hard to get.”
After Hoda, 60, questioned how exactly Henry played “hard to get” at the early stages of their relationship, Jenna said, “Well, he would not call everyday, yet I knew he was into me. I was like, this man knows how to play it real well.”
“I kept it real tight, too. I know the rules,” she said.
Ultimately, the tactic proved to be successful for the pair, who tied the knot at Jenna’s family’s Crawford, Texas, ranch in front of 200 guests more than a decade ago.
“He wasn’t being anybody but himself,” Jenna said about Henry. “But he just would not write everyday or call everyday, he was busy. But, every once in a while, he’d have his Blackberry and he’d be like, ‘Miss you,’ ‘Thinking of you.’”
