It was apparently a very hectic holiday at Jenna Bush Hager‘s house, as she revealed she accidentally threw away Hoda Kotb‘s Christmas gift.
The admission came as the ladies were playing a round of “We Listen and We Don’t Judge” on the Tuesday, January 7, hour of Today With Hoda and Jenna.
Hoda, 60, went first, telling Jenna, 43, “I borrowed your pink blazer a long time ago and now I own it. It’s mine,” as the former first daughter responded, “I was wondering,” what happened to the item.
Next, Jenna confessed, “You gave me a beautiful Christmas present this year, and I think it somehow got thrown out,” which sent her cohost into hysterics. Jenna too began laughing, sharing, “I can’t find it anywhere. I’ve been searching and searching and searching.”
The Instagram post made fans get sentimental that Hoda and Jenna’s time together is coming to an end, as the veteran broadcaster’s last day on their hour as well as cohosting Today is Friday, January 10.
“I’m gonna miss their banter and love. It is so evident how much they mean to each other,” one person commented, while another wrote, “Darn I’m going to miss these two ladies working together!! They’re SO funny, unique!! I LOVE THEM!!”
Several other curious fans asked, “What was the gift?”
Hoda announced on September 26, 2024, that she was leaving Today, after joining the show’s fourth hour in 2007 and rising to the cohost position alongside Savannah Guthrie in January 2018.
“I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new,” she told the members of her Today team on the air. “I remembered standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, ‘This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.’ And I thought it can’t get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on.”
Hoda also explained how adopting her daughters Haley in 2017 and Hope in 2019 played a part in her decision.
“Obviously I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have,” she said. “I feel like we only have a finite amount of time. And so, with all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world.”
After Hoda’s announcement, Jenna told her, “It’s not over. I’m going to be showing up at your house like the stalker you are to Zac Brown. I will be there on your doorstep, and we are your friends forever.”
Until a permanent cohost is named for the fourth hour of Today, the show has been renamed Today With Jenna & Friends! and will feature various celebrities rotating into the cohost chair alongside the Texas native.
Jenna announced on Monday, January 6, that her first set of guest cohosts includes Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria and Keke Palmer.
“It’s going to be our month of wonder women,” Jenna said revealing that the guest cohosts will be joining her for episodes during the week of January 13.
“We love these women, we’ve said we love these women,” Jenna continued. “I feel like Hoda helped me manifest this. Nobody will ever fill this chair, but the three of them sure can try.”
