Chris Brown and Rihanna’s relationship is one of the most infamous Hollywood stories. While many celebrity relationships become well-known because of scandals here and there, the timeline of the two musicians’ relationship is heartbreaking in a completely different way.
Rumors of their entanglement started in 2007; however, things turned very sour in 2009 after they got involved in a domestic violence case. While many know about this controversy, the actual details are quite gruesome.
Chris Brown and Rihanna’s argument turned very sour very quickly
Chris Brown has been in a lot of controversies throughout his career. From past partners filing restraining orders against him to being accused of r*ping someone, he has had a questionable public image for years. So much so, that it prompted Investigation Discovery to create a documentary called Chris Brown: A History of Violence (via UsWeekly).
In this, his court case with Rihanna was also talked about in detail, and it is safe to say that things got quite dark. Starting off, it would seem that Rihanna Fenty and Brown were in a car together when they started having an argument about Brown being unfaithful to her.
It states that Rihanna and Chris were driving in his car around town. [She] had seen something on his phone that made her think he was dealing with another female. And by his own admission, when she confronted him in the car he got a little annoyed with her. The nerve of her to have the temerity to ask him a question about whatever it is that he is doing.
It would seem that this conversation was very frustrating for the rapper, who did not want to be questioned on such things by his girlfriend. Soon, he was trying to push Fenty out of his car. After this was unsuccessful, he started punching the singer in her left eye.
Chris tried to shove her out of the car by opening the door and throwing her out. She had her seatbelt on so that didn’t work. Then he punched her in the eye. He kept punching her and her mouth was filling up with blood.
This was not a one-time thing, as he continued to punch her for several blocks, to the point where blood was starting to fill her mouth.
Chris Brown took things way too far
As if Chris Brown punching Rihanna wasn’t enough, things got a lot worse from this point onwards. After telling her, ‘I am going to beat the s— out of you,’ when they got home, the singer ended up calling her assistant for help.
Although the call did not reach her assistant, Fenty ended up pretending like she was on the call and asked her to make sure the cops were at their home when they arrived.
Although the singer was bluffing to help Brown get back to his senses, the possibility of the police being called on him seemed to only make his anger worse. He ended up telling her that she should not have that and threatened to kill her.
She called her assistant — who didn’t pick up — but [she] pretended to be on the phone with her. Likely she was hoping this would get Chris to calm down and come to his senses. But then he said, ‘Now I am really going to kill you!’ He then put her in a chokehold so tight that she began to lose consciousness.
He then put Fenty into a chokehold and held her there for quite some time, making it very difficult for her to fight back. After some time and some very loud screaming, the singer got the opportunity to get the keys to the car and pretended like she had thrown them out.
Upon not finding the keys, Brown left the scene. He was soon arrested for domestic violence and pleaded guilty to the same. For the felony charge, he served five years of probation, had to do community service, and even had to attend domestic violence counseling.
