EUROVISION legend Linda Martin has said she’s been approached by a political party to consider running to be the next President of Ireland.
And quizzed on whether she is considering a run for the Aras, the music icon said: ‘I’m mulling it over.”

President Michael D Higgins was inaugurated for his second term on November 11, 2018.
This means that the next presidential election is due to take place on or up to 60 days before November 11, 2025.
And it looks like the Why Me? star could be putting her name in the hat.
Speaking to Oliver Callan and Jason Byrne on RTE Radio 1 this morning, she said: “Listen you two, in future address me as ‘Lady President’.”
When asked if she’s running, Linda replied: “Now… I’m saying nothing, that’s all I’m saying.”
Oliver sounded taken back and questioned her further saying: “Is that real? Are you really doing that?”
Linda replied: “Aw you’ll have to wait and see now.”
Oliver asked: “As an independent or as a party?
The 72-year-old explained how she’d be running with a party but “couldn’t say” which one.
She added: “I was approached [by a party]. It sound’s bizarre but sure!”
A speechless Oliver asked again: “But you’re seriously considering this?”
Linda replied: “Let’s just say, I’m mulling it over.”
Linda’s Eurovision star pal Dana Rosemary Scallon ran for president in 1997 before winning a seat in the European Parliament in 1999.
A second failed bid for the presidency followed in 2011.
Speaking about Dana, Linda said: “She’s a good friend of mine so I’ll get all the advice from her.”
Linda was our 1992 Eurovision winner with her tune “Why Me?, which was the first of a record three consecutive wins for Ireland.
Norwegian singer EMMY was chosen to represent Ireland in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest this May in Switzerland with her song Laika Party.
But sadly Linda doesn’t think Ireland will be claiming back its title this year.
When asked what Linda thinks of this year’s Eurovision hopeful, she said: “I wouldn’t rate our chances very highly.
“I’m being honest with you and it sounds terrible but I just wouldn’t because I know what the opinions are coming in from Europe already and there’d be strong contenders there.
“But I wish her very well.”
