Of all the projects Johnny Depp has starred in to date, his most remarkable role has unarguably been that of Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean universe. However, his chances of returning to the franchise are as bleak as ever after all the Disney abandoning him drama that ensued when he was caught in that messy divorce with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Nonetheless, while his return to the screens through Pirates of the Caribbean 6 seems more unlikely than otherwise, his fans are still as excited for him as ever. This is because the 61-year-old actor already has five other projects in line through which he would be gracing his presence on the big screens, not to mention those untitled ones he is all set to direct!
Johnny Depp is all set to grace the screens with these 5 projects
While the domestic abuse case launched by Amber Heard on him followed by his launching a defamatory case against his ex-wife pretty much stirred quite a bit of controversy around him, Depp seems to finally be getting back on track as it was before. This is because he already has a list of projects awaiting release over the course of the next few years.

As shared by @TehranKnight on X, The Tourist actor reportedly has five upcoming projects, scheduled for release between 2025 to 2027. While the X handle included Pirates of the Caribbean 6 in the list as well, that one might as well be taken with a pinch of salt and put on the backseat as of now until official reports confirm it.
The first of these five projects is The Carnival at the End of Days, which is currently said to be in development and will reportedly star him in the role of Satan, though the scarce details available about the same make it hard to pinpoint how exactly he would be breathing life to this reported character (as confirmed by ScreenRant).

Then there’s Day Drinker, an upcoming thriller from director Marc Webb in which Depp will be reuniting with Penelope Cruz. Per PEOPLE‘s reporting of a statement from Lionsgate, this flick will reportedly follow “a cruise ship bartender” and “a mysterious day drinker” who “find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly, and connected in unexpected ways.”
Next on the list of films the mastermind Johnny Depp is all set to star in is Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires – a documentary about the formation of the band Hollywood Vampires that explores their profound impact on their devoted fanbase (as per their official website. See the documentary’s trailer here).
Apart from these, Depp is also reported to have two untitled projects on his bucket list for him to direct during this time period. On an unofficial note, he will also reportedly be working on an upcoming project with Allen Hughes, though this one is yet to be officially announced. All of these projects reportedly have a 2025-27 release window.
Besides these, he was also reported to have starred in Charlie Chaplin‘s documentary, Charlie Chaplin: The Spirit of the Tramp (via IMDb), which premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival, and filmmaker Tim Burton‘s Untitled Tim Burton Documentary, a four-part docuseries that premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival.
Fans react to these reported projects Johnny Depp has in line

While the source reported Johnny Depp to return as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 as well, citing a reliable inside source for the same, it is yet to be officially confirmed by the actor and his agents themselves. Nonetheless, fans are still as excited about that as well as his other projects, as they have been reacting in the comment section:
Johnny Depp wore the costume last year. Bruno wore it too. He also visited a Pirates of the Caribbean orchestra and hung out with Jerry Bruckheimer. I think it might be true.

Just as his folks denied he had a girlfriend, or is opening a jewelry store in Russia, I won’t believe the POTC 6 until he/they confirm it. Hope it is true, we’ll see. ❤️🎶

I don’t believe the pirates thing for a second. That rumour resurfaces every few weeks.
If his team verifies it then I’ll stand corrected.
In the meantime he has tonnes of projects which is fantastic. Booked, busy and happy. 😊— Boo 🏴☠️🐝 (@BooChilling) February 17, 2025

To say the least, after a tumultuous few years, Depp’s fans are really excited as he seems reportedly poised to make a triumphant return to the big screen. With a slew of exciting projects in the works, he is proving that he’s still a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. But while rumors of a Pirates of the Caribbean return continue to swirl, one thing is certain: Johnny Depp is back, and he’s ready to take on the world.
