“I wonder if it will ever get made”: Alan Ritchson Needs to Get Jack Reacher’s Favorite Book Adapted As ‘Reacher’ Season 4

Alan Ritchson’s smashed, crashed, and powered his way through Reacher, but there’s one thing even he couldn’t muscle into reality: his favorite ‘Jack Reacher’ book making it to the screen. As Reacher’s about to storm into Season 4, Ritchson found himself wondering if his top pick would ever get adapted.

The series had nailed the action, the attitude, and the sheer brute force of Lee Child’s novels, but this one story? Still untouched.

Alan Ritchson pushes for Reacher season 4 to adapt Jack Reacher’s most personal story

Alan Ritchson might be breaking bones as Jack Reacher, but there’s one thing he can’t seem to crack – getting his favorite Jack Reacher book adapted. As Reacher powers through Season 3 with Persuader, author Lee Child is already eyeing the future, hoping Amazon will take on The Midnight Line.

Child, who created the towering action hero in 1997, called the 22nd novel one of his personal favorites. The reason? It tackles the opioid crisis but from the addict’s perspective. Explaining how he wanted to make their struggles “sympathetic” and “human,” Child admitted,

I’m addicted to numerous things myself and so I wanted to show it from the addicts point of view – make it sympathetic, make it human – and I’m proud of that book.

It’s a fresh take for a franchise built on brute force.

But will it ever get made? Even Child isn’t sure. He said,

I wonder if it will ever get made. We have to see whether we ever choose that one, but I’d love to see how it comes out.

The Reacher series has already proven it doesn’t need to follow the books in order – Season 1 covered Killing Floor, Season 2 jumped to Bad Luck and Trouble, and Season 3 picked Persuader from the middle of the pack.

With Ritchson fully settled into the role, the show’s been a massive hit for Prime Video. The big question now: Whether it will take on The Midnight Line – or if, as Child optimistically hopes, the opioid crisis will be “over” by then.

For now, Reacher fans are just waiting to see what’s next. One thing’s for sure: no matter which book gets adapted, there will be plenty of action, plenty of attitude, and, hopefully, some well-earned justice.

Alan Ritchson takes aim at former classmate Matt Gaetz

Alan Ritchson isn’t holding back when it comes to his old classmate, Matt Gaetz. The Reacher star, who went to school with the former congressman in Niceville, Florida, had some choice words in a new GQ interview:

That motherf—er. We are adversaries. It’s shocking to me that the panhandle of Florida continues to vote for somebody — knowing everything we know about him and the promises that he’s made behind closed doors about pardoning certain criminals — he’s just not a good dude!

Ritchson slammed Gaetz for his political history, calling out his track record of backdoor promises and controversial pardon requests. The actor even admitted that his frustration makes him consider running for office – just to “outdo somebody like him for good.”

While Ritchson isn’t sure politics is for him, he’s clear on one thing: Gaetz is “just not a good dude.” One might say the Reacher star is ready to take his justice-seeking ways offscreen.

Reacher is available to watch on Prime Video and Apple TV.
