Alan Ritchson has become quite a beloved figure in the past few years. Although he has been a part of several iconic and beloved projects throughout his career, he was frequently on the sidelines until he was cast on Reacher. Being front and center on one of the most critically acclaimed projects in recent years, it is not surprising that he has become a beloved figure.

With fame also comes the conversations about the beliefs and ideologies of celebrities. Ritchson has been very vocal and proud of his religious beliefs as a Christian and the things he is passionate about along with that. Despite this, he is not very beloved among other Christians and it would seem that fans of Donald Trump are especially critical of him.
Alan Ritchson is not popular with Christians
With the release of the third season of Reacher having just begun, Alan Ritchson has been giving quite a lot of interviews for the promotion of the project. He recently gave quite an in-depth interview with GQ Magazine about various aspects of his life.

At one point in this, he talked about his public image and how many people confuse his character and him in real life in the most bizarre ways possible. Actors frequently do questionable things when in character. However, it is important to remember the distinction between the two. Unfortunately, some of Ritchson’s views find it difficult to make a difference.
People have this weird relationship with fictional characters, and sort of equate that to the real human being.
It would seem that the actor has been frequently told by Christians that he is not true to his faith because his characters are intimate before marriage. The actor pointed out that there is a very big distinction between fiction and reality, clearly finding the comments quite bizarre.
I don’t have that problem, making that distinction. I get criticized a lot by Christians who are like, ‘How dare you have an unmarried s*x scene on TV and then talk about Jesus?’ I’m sorry—I doubt that’s going to be part of the conversation when I’m standing at the pearly gates!

A majority of Donald Trump’s demographic is also Christian. Considering Ritchson’s beliefs, as well as his comments about the president, it is not surprising that they dislike him.
Alan Ritchson is not a fan of Donald Trump either
In an older interview with THR, Alan Ritchson elaborated on his faith and stated that he was a very devout Christian. His beliefs in the religion came from an appreciation of the message of Christ, as well as the teachings that he implemented into his personal life.

At the same time, he was quite critical of the image that Christianity has been getting in recent years, as well as the alignment of some Christians with Donald Trump and his messaging. He made it evidently clear that he was not a supporter of President Trump.
Trump is a r*pist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to be treat him like he’s their poster child and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it.
He then added that he did not agree with the blind faith that many had in his capabilities and influence. Outside of politics, he was even critical of the corruption that can frequently breed in organized religion. He mentioned things that are being brushed under the rug and conversations that are not being had within the community, making him critical of a religion that he holds close to his heart.
It’s worth saying that the atrocities that are happening in the church that are being actively covered up, even to this day with people not being held accountable, is repulsive. I can’t for one second support the Catholic Church while there are still cardinals, bishops and priests being passed around with known pedophilic tendencies.

Although his comments may make many Christians very upset, there is no denying that many of his fans would love him even more for his beliefs.
Reacher is available for streaming on Prime Video.
