HEARTBREAKING tributes have been paid to a “loving husband” and “adored daddy” who tragically died in a horror workplace accident.
Gareth Richardson tragically passed away this week from serious injuries he sustained in a workplace electrocution incident on Annvale Road in Keady, Co Armagh earlier this month.
Emergency services, including police, ambulance, and firefighters, rushed to the scene of the tragedy shortly before 10am on the morning of Friday, January 10.
Gareth was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital to seek treatment for his injuries.
He was placed in an induced coma following the horror accident but sadly passed away from his injuries on Wednesday, January 22.
A heartbreaking notice online described the father as a “loving and devoted husband of Sarah, adored daddy of Travis, Ella-Marie, Jorgie and Bradley, cherished son of Ann and the late George, treasured brother of Nigel (Julie) and Darren (Dorothy) also a much-loved uncle of Jake, Becky and Curtis.”
The family expressed their gratitude to the staff of Willowbank Surgery in Keady, the Ambulance Service, Rapid Response Team and the staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital ICU.
The funeral service is set to be held in Thomas Street Methodist Church on Monday at 1pm.
A committal followed in Kernan Cemetery will occur afterwards.
The family wishes to have no flowers but have urged people to instead donate to the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance.
Since the news of the tragic passing of Gareth, tributes have started to flood social media, with one old friend telling how he “will be sadly missed by so many but remembered as a true star shining bright.”
A spokesperson for Portadown Football Club said: “Everyone at Portadown FC is devastated to learn of the passing of Gareth Richardson.
“We pass on our heartfelt sympathies to Gareth‘s Wife, Children, Mother, Brothers and the whole Richardson family circle at this sad time and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”
The Hillhaven Flute Band paid tribute to Gareth, writing: “The officers and the members of Hillhaven Flute Band are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of our past members and good friend Gareth ‘Paddy’ Richardson.
“Paddy always had a good sense of humour and the best character to be around. He will be sorely missed by all.”
‘GREAT CHARACTER’
Gareth’s company, David Jameson Roofing Services Ltd wrote: “Thank you for your prayers for our colleague Gareth ‘Paddy’ Richardson but it is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Gareth has sadly passed away this evening.
“Paddy was a great character, very pleasant, thoughtful and took great pride in his work. He would never pass you when out or at the football. Simply put, a gentleman!
“Our thoughts are with Gareth’s wife Sarah, his children, family and friends.”
A close friend said: “Devastated to hear of the passing of Gareth Paddy Richardson.
“He was a character and like his dad loved Portadown fc. Many memories of him from Shamrock Park bumping into him in the town and always a good laugh and a conversation.
“Taking from his family far to soon in that tragic accident. I pray for Paddys wife Sarah and the little kids and to his brothers and the whole family circle.
“It will be strange not seeing him at games and again my deepest sympathies to all his family circle and may God comfort and guide you in the loneliness ahead when it all sinks in.”
