TRIBUTES are being paid to a dad-of-two who died in a farm accident in Co Kerry.
The man has been named locally as Garrett Dee of Carrig Island, Ballylongford.
The HSA are investigating after the incident, which occurred shortly before midnight on a farm in Carrig Island on Friday night.
It’s understand Mr Dee was assisting a cow in the calving of twins in a shed on his farm when it occurred.
Medical services and Gardai were called to the scene.
The married father-of-two was well known in the area and the family also run a B&B.
Sympathy was expressed at a meeting of Kerry County Council this morning.
Fine Gael councillor Michael Foley, also from Ballylongford, moved a motion at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council in Tralee on the need to have separate Eircodes for farm outbuildings for safety reasons to facilitate emergency services.
Mr Foley said it was “ironic” he was moving the motion given the tragic circumstances at the weekend and expressed his sympathy to the family of the deceased,
The motion that Kerry County Council would make contact with the Minister in charge of communication and request that all farmyards be allocated an Eircode, was seconded by Fianna Fail councillor Norma Moriarty, and received unanimous support.
In a death notice posted online, Mr Dee was remembered as a “beloved husband” who was “dearly loved” by his family.
