YOU may have noticed a few retailers drastically slashing prices of their sweet treats, eager to clear the shelves of left over Christmas stock.
And while some of will still be feeling sick from the overindulging of the festive period, others will be keen to get their hands on a yummy deal.
Sainsbury’s shoppers have been taking advantage of the store’s latest price reductions, including family favourites Quality Street and Celebrations.
The sweet snacks are being snapped up quickly by hungry buyers – so if you fancy a bargain you’ll need to be fast.
One eagle-eyed shopper has spotted an incredible deal on a classic British confectionery at another retail giant.
They posted the picture to Facebook group Extreme Bargains UK’s 57,000 followers.
The snap was captioned “50% off Quality Street fill your own at John Lewis.”
The picture showed a shelf stacked with the iconic purple and gold tins – all sat underneath a ‘reduced to clear 50% off’ sign.
The DIY tins were originally retailing for £17 each but have now been knocked down to just £8.50.
And even better – shoppers have full control over the contents, so no need to dodge the Coconut Eclairs or Toffee Fingers if you’re not a fan.
The pick and mix Quality Street stations are exclusive to John Lewis and only available in store.
Simply grab your tin and fill with your favourite flavours.
There are 12 delicious flavours to choose from – including ‘back by popular demand’ Coffee Crème.
The bargain hunter had spotted the deal at the Cribbs Causeway branch of John Lewis.
And fans were quick to flood the comments with praise.
One fan of the DIY tins wrote: “I may need to get more, this was my best present ever.”
Another person, clearly fond of the classic eye-catching branding, wrote: “I just want the tin.”
While someone else tagged a friend and wrote: “We need this!”
And someone else shared another money-saving tip, saying: “I think if you take your existing tin it’s cheaper too.”

How to save money on chocolate
We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…
Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.
Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.
They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.
So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
