STEPHAN NEGRU has been recalled from his loan with Salford City by Oxford United.
Salford are playing Manchester City in the FA Cup this weekend but it is unlikely he would have been involved as he had sat out the two previous rounds of the competition.
Instead, he could be in third-round action for Oxford against Exeter City because of an injury concern over fellow defender Elliott Moore.
The ex-Shelbourne centre-half had made 22 appearances for the League Two promotion hopefuls and was due to spend the full season with them.
He will instead hope to impress Gary Rowett – appointed as Oxford manager three weeks ago – enough to become part of his plans.
The 22-year-old made 13 appearances in their League One promotion campaign last year but former boss Des Buckingham decided his career would be better served by gaining further experience elsewhere as they prepared for the second tier.
If Negru’s recall is to cover just a temporary injury absence, another loan move before the window closes could be on the cards.
