It’s the second lover of Stacey’s to die on the same day – after Bradley Branning died during the 2010 live episode[/caption]
The fruit and veg trader saved Stacey Slater after the explosion at The Vic.
However, as they attempted to leave the wreckage, a steal beam crushed Martin’s legs, trapping him.
During the emotional scenes he proposed to her, declaring that he loved her – all of her.
Cornering the paramedic, Stacey then demanded to know what was going on.
He told her that Martin was in a bad way and once the beam was lifted, his body would be flooded with toxins and that she should say what she wants to say.
Stacey couldn’t bring herself to tell Martin what was happening, but he realised.
She begged him to hold on and they shared a kiss before the emergency services began to lift the beam.
And tragically Martin died leaving Stacey screaming in devastation for all the Square to hear.
However, EastEnders fans at home have hit out at bosses for killing another one of Stacey’s lovers on the exact same day.
During the show’s 25th anniversary in 2010, Bradley Branning died after falling from the roof of The Vic.
Taking to social media, one fan said: “15 years since Stacey lost the last love of her life Bradley Branning now she’s lost the 2nd man she truly loved Martin Fowler. This show is so cruel – now we’ll never see Stacey & Martin get married.”
A second wrote: “I never thought I’d be so sad about a character dying in EastEnders, I never saw this coming. This was just cruel.”
“They did it again to ar Stacey, first Bradley now Martin,” fumed a third.
A fourth said: “Bradley Branning and Martin Fowler were Stacey’s true loves, and to kill them both off on the same date is nasty nasty work.”
While a fifth vented: “Killing off Martin Fowler 10 years later to the day when Bradley died is shocking.”
