Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series is considered to be one of the most popular Shonen series that has grown immensely popular. Over the years, the franchise has released several popular shows to continue with Goku’s lore of being the strongest Saiyan in the world. However, Dragon Ball Z is the go-to choice of fans.
The series flaunts a perfect storyline that has a number of iconic arcs that have left a lasting impression on its viewers, from the Planet Namek Arc to the Majin Buu saga, each time the stakes have gone higher. Nevertheless, the Cell Saga featured that Earth was indeed in grave danger from the malicious clutches of the perfect villain.
Everything about the arc was perfect from the beginning to the epic conclusion that showcased Gohan’s potential as a Super Saiyan. However, fans still wonder if it was Vegeta’s fault for Cell achieving his perfect form.
31 Years Later, The Debate Rages on If Vegeta Was Responsible For Cell Achieving His Perfect Form
When it comes to featuring the most overlooked arc, none could come close to the storytelling in the Cell Saga. The plot was different from the others, where Akira Toriyama decided that it was finally time for Goku to pass the baton to his son, Gohan. While that was featured much later in the arc, what hooked the viewers was the introduction of Cell, who was an embodiment of pure evil.
While the Androids killed innocent people, Cell would even absorb the life energy as well. Later, he would even absorb the powers of the Z-Fighters, including the cells of Goku and Vegeta. Thus, leading to his arrogant personality and relentless drive to be a perfect organism.
To achieve this plan, he needed to absorb Android 17 and 18. After some struggle, he managed to absorb 17 and his power multiplied in folds, leaving every Z-Fighter in the dust. This made Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Gohan train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and perfect the Super Saiyan form.
Vegeta, along with Future Trunks, decided to focus more on strength and decided to face Cell in his imperfect form. He overwhelmed him with his newfound strength. However, instead of landing the finishing blow on the villain, his cocky side took over him and even helped him to absorb Android 18. Thus, Perfect Cell was born, and the greatest threat to Earth had arrived.
The Saiyan Prince’s foolish actions were followed by serious consequences, where the antagonist crushed his ego. Also, defeating Future Trunks without much effort. Following his victory over the two Saiyans, he took over a television broadcast, announcing that in ten days following this transmission, the Cell Games would commence.
Perfect Cell used his Minecraft skills and created the perfect arena, only to be defeated by Gohan, who obliterated his existence, giving the most epic conclusion to the saga.
Dragon Ball Z Fans Explain Why Vegeta Was a Menace For Letting Cell Achieve His Perfect Form
There’s no denying that Krillin was partly responsible for not pressing the button on the remote to destroy Android 18, but the fandom feels otherwise. Recently, a fan page (@dbs_10_10) decided to question the burning question, that is, “Who was at fault for Cell achieving his perfect form?”
The DBZ community came forward and strongly believed that it was only Vegeta and his Saiyan pride that led to the escalation of the situation. They even came up with a full-fledged explanation behind his irrational action. The fans commented,
Vegeta knocking out trunks who was gonna kill cell is the worst

Probably it’s Vegeta
Krillin tried to save android 18
But Vegeta’s useless pride made cell to achieve his perfect form

100% Vegeta. Here’s why:
Vegeta had the capacity not only to prevent Cell from becoming Perfect, but to Kill and Destroy him all together.
Krillin could only stop Cell from absorbing 18. Had he been successful, Cell could have pivoted to reviving her with the Dragonballs.

Lmao. This debate kills me.
It’s Vegeta. If he wasn’t so adamant about facing someone stronger he could have ended it.
Krillin is a moron that fell in love from a kiss.
Vegeta had multiple chances but his ego got in the way.

Vegeta 100%. Krillin tried at least saving 18 rather than murdering her outright. As much as I love the character, Vegeta did it so he could flex over Cell and found out fast that it was a terrible idea 🥲

Vegeta is responsible for not only the Cell Saga but also Buu.

While fans believe that the Saiyan Prince is solely responsible for putting Earth’s fate at risk, they can’t deny that it was due to his actions that Gohan could unlock his hidden potential. Thus, making him the strongest Saiyan in Universe 7.
