Demon’s Souls is the founding stone of the whole Souls genre, for which Hidetaka Miyazaki is known today. It has pioneered the core fundamentals of the very games that have allowed FromSoftware to thrive as one of the best game production houses out there.

To celebrate the legacy of this important title, gamers were gifted a remake version with better graphics and more elements of the game, which originally came out in 2009. However, the brains behind the remake purposefully skipped over refining this one part of the game that Miyazaki chose to gloss over during the original’s launch as well.
Demon’s Souls 6th realm: A hidden expansion that never came true

In the original game, five archstones led players to distinct realms. For years, Demon’s Souls players had speculated about the existence of a 6th broken archstone, an unfinished area in the Nexus that suggested a missing and unfinished realm that gamers could have explored and enjoyed.
Talking about how the production house purposefully glossed over this fact, Gavin Moore, who oversaw Demon’s Souls Remake‘s development on PlayStation, revealed the following in an interview via Polygon.
There are only five unbroken stones in the Nexus, And that’s the same now, as was in the original. So there’s no new archstone and there’s no new world.
Despite what the fans of the game would have wanted, the team with the creative liberty for the remake decided to respect the decision made by Hidetaka Miyazaki all those years ago, maintaining the suspense if a secret 6th realm was ever a reality in the world of Demon’s Souls.
Why there needs to be more remakes of FromSoftware titles

While the developers behind the Demon’s Souls Remake might have completely held back on bringing forth a hidden realm, they ultimately did work on making the game feel more fresh and up-to-date with the industry’s standards nowadays.
FromSoftware titles have always proved to be iconic. After Demon’s Souls, the Dark Souls trilogy, then Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and finally Elden Ring, all of them have popped off using the same simple yet effective formula of creating a punishing game that rewards the player with a feeling that cannot be easily replicated.
Unfortunately, some games out of this list might never receive a remaster or a remake, mainly Bloodborne. This is mainly because of the exclusivity deal with Sony, which has stopped the franchise in its track as a whole with no sequels and no updates since forever.
