The Friday Night Lights reunion between Connie Britton and Jesse Plemons for Zero Day was nothing short of a dream.

“It was so wonderful,” Britton, 57, told Us Weekly exclusively at the limited series’ premiere in New York City on Tuesday, February 18. “When you get onto a set like this — a big show like this where it can feel pretty daunting — to have people there that you’ve worked with before, that you know and love and trust, it’s the best thing in the world.”

Britton starred as Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights from 2006 to 2011 alongside Plemons, 36, who played Landry Clarke.

While speaking with Us at The Plaza Hotel, Britton said she and Plemons “went right back” to how they were on the FNL set.

“It’s like we have our own language in a way,” she added. “It was just a real treat.”

Despite his widespread success in Hollywood, Britton noted that Plemons hasn’t changed from when they acted together all those years ago.

“He still seems exactly the same to me,” she gushed. “He seems like Landry Clarke to me, except for while we’re shooting, he wins Best Actor at Cannes.” (Plemons took home the award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Yorgos Lanthimos‘ film Kinds of Kindness.)

Zero Day is set to air via Netflix on Friday, February 20, starring Robert De Niro and Lizzy Caplan as George and Alexandra Mullen, respectively. Plemons will star as Roger Carlson, while Britton is set to appear as Valerie Whitesell. (Joan Allen, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Angela Bassett, Matthew Modine and McKinley Belcher III also star.)

Us also spoke to Modine, 65, on the carpet and he was quick to gush over one of his Zero Day costars as well.

The Stranger Things star explained that he “moved to New York City” as a teenager because of De Niro, 81, among other famed actors — and how they’re working together.

“I wanted to come to New York City because that’s where they had grown up and gone to school,” the actor said. “So, this is what I did.”

Allen, 68, felt similarly about De Niro.

“It was just the best,” she told Us on Tuesday’s red carpet. “It was a dream to be able to do it. … He’s just so talented and so present, and so open and very kind and a great acting partner. You can’t ask for anything more than that.”
