Royal author Hugo Vickers said the reaction to the recent trademarking issues and plagiarism row sparked by the last minute re-brand from American Riviera Orchard exemplify the “hostility” Meghan attracts.

It comes after the mayor of Porreres in Majorca said she is considering legal action over the duchess’ new logo apparently copying the town’s centuries’ old coat of arms.

And the owner of family-run New York-based clothing brand As Ever appealed to Meg to change the name to avoid him losing business.

Mr Vickers said many new brands experience teething issues, adding that “there’s almost nothing in the world that’s new”.

But said the reaction to Meg’s U-turn highlights how polarising she can be.

He said: “She’s bound to be just being attacked because people want to attack her, and maybe actually, they’re also jumping on the bandwagon.”

Mr Vickers said such bad publicity isn’t likely to upset Netflix because it will “presumably like any amount of publicity that this engenders, because it’ll get people to watch the show”.

“A company like Netflix wants value for money… they have to deliver,” he continued.

“I suspect that if it doesn’t work, then it’ll get axed like everything else, because that’s what happens in the commercial world. You sink or swim. It’s a tough world out there.

“I think in the end you have to come up with substance, and it’ll be interesting to see what sort of substance is produced by this programme.”

Since stepping down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020, Meg and Prince Harry have been criticised for monetising their regal ties.

However, the duchess’ latest Instagram post, a mood board alluding to the new cookery show, ignores the royals completely – despite her adding: “From memory lane to the memories I’m making today…”

Instead it features old quotes from her now-defunct blog The Tig, as well as a drawing of her, Prince Harry and her late dog Guy.

Referring to the lack of mentions of the royals and Meg’s own family or childhood, Mr Vickers said it was “rather wise of her to do that”, because it could have “backfired”.

“We know perfectly well that she doesn’t get on with her own family…” he continued.

“As for the royal family, well, she has to be very careful about using them.

“We know that she has that connection, and she’s very wise not to push it any further, because I think that’s backfired.

“So you know, to be fair to her, she’s starting to branch out in a new direction.”

Mr Vickers added: “It’s reinventing herself. And that’s what people do, and that’s in a way, I suppose what you you have to do if you’re going to be a celebrity.”

The arm of the body was wearing a bracelet identical to that of Nate Robinson’s that was made for him by daughter Frankie.

Last night viewers saw the body at the bottom of the lake wrapped in a tarpaulin and weighed down with chains.

Eagle-eyed fans are convinced there John Sugden murdered Nate after they spotted a very similar-looking tarpaulin used when he disposed of Anthony Fox’s body.

One viewer wrote: “Okay anyone thinking John had something to do with Nate? That tarp wrapping has got me thinking. Might have to go back and watch to see if I can spot the connection.”

A second pointed to this theory: “Nate was telling Mac to lay off and give him.a chance etc. Nate left when Moira trapped Ruby in the barn. Before those scenes that was the last we ever saw of Nate, because I remember thinking Nate was going to be found injured somewhere. Now hes been murdered and wrapped up and weighted down.”

This viewer said: “John was and he was the one who said Nate had left without saying goodbye. Hope we don’t just leave Nate there now.”

A fourth said: “Oh it’s going to get very interesting isn’t it. I mean John knew what to do with Anthony and I can’t remember if he used tarpe to cover him but I think the clues will be in how he dealt with Anthony.”

“It was John he’s not who he says he is and is a serial killer,” this viewer predicted.

Someone else suggested: “John is not actually John he killed the real John and is impersonating him.”

While another echoed: “I think John has a dark side to him and he’s a serial killer.”

During one shocking scene, viewers saw Amy Wyatt plunge through the ice as she attempted to move from the limo to safety.

Her body shot down into the icy waters as the lake above began to re-solidify meaning she was trapped.

In a spine-chilling moment, as Amy turned in the water she clapped eyes on a dead body below the water.

The arm of the body was wearing a very similar bracelet that daughter Frankie gave him.

Later in the episode, having been rescued by Tracy, Amy could be seen staring at Tracy’s matching bracelet but unable to speak from the cold, she was left trapped with her thoughts.

With speculation mounting that Nate has been secretly murdered and his body plunged into the lake, the star who played him, Jurell Carter, has now added even more fuel to the fire.

In the wake of the episodes, Jurell took to Instagram to share a shirtless snap and accompanied it with a very cryptic quote.

The actor made reference to his “weird job” before adding the Italian pinched hands emoji after all eyes were on his character’s arm and bracelet.

Jurell’s caption read: “A weird job but I wouldn’t have it any other way [pinched hands emoji].”

Nate hasn’t been seen in the Dales since September last year, with his sudden and swift exit never quite sitting right with fans.

Since leaving the village, supposedly for Shetland, he has had little to no contact with his loved ones, only sending text messages.

He was last seen speaking to John Sugden, after being falsely accused of sleeping with Cain Dingle’s wife, Moira.

With the true fallout from the limo smash set to be uncovered later this week – only time will tell if the body really is Nate and questions are sure to be raised about just how his body ended up there.

So far, two deaths have been confirmed: Suzy died almost instantly, as well as another victim of the limo crash en route to hospital.

A LIFEBOAT station which was once home to a “cannibal” sailor who ate his dead crewmates has gone on sale for £95k.

But despite being at the centre of countless lifesaving missions, it has a dark history linked to a Welshman who was left stranded in 1874. 

Thomas Lewis, who used to work at the lifeboat station, was forced to resort to cannibalism to survive a shipwreck while sailing to New Zealand.

A fire broke out on the vessel, known as the Cospatrick, killing all but three of the sailors including Lewis.

Without food, water and with broken oars, Lewis, Second Mate Henry MacDonald and Ordinary Seaman Edward Cotter, just 18, drifted for 10 days.

It was then the trio of survivors made the hard decision to drink the blood of their former shipmates and eat their livers to stave off starvation and certain death.

Now, the historic slate and stone property, which has undergone an incredible transformation, is available on the market.

The station comes with its own slipway to the sea and is up for auction with a guide price of £95,000.

Built in 1875, the historic stone and slate structure, which comes complete with a slipway, became a Lifeboat Station, which served the east coast of Anglesey for 34 years. 

Sellers Town and Country say the former station is a “landmark maritime building” and set in a “stunning coastal position.”

They added: “Built in 1875, this detached building and slipway served as the Lifeboat Station serving the east coast of Anglesey for many years.

“It has in recent years been privately used as a boat house and store. The internal accommodation extends to approximately 66 square meters.”

However, prospective buyers have been warned that access to the station is not for the faint-hearted.

They said: “Access to the property is on foot only and involves walking down a steep area. All viewings are to be accompanied and prospective viewers should proceed with caution.”

The station was retired in 1909 after a new lifeboat station was built nearby.

It has been used as a boathouse and storage facility in many of the years since.

The new boathouse and slipway were erected just 180 metres up the coast, and is still the home of Moelfre’s current station. It was rebuilt in 2015, costing around £10million. 

Around two centuries later and Moelfre’s volunteers have saved more than 1,000 lives. 

Volunteers have been awarded 37 medals, including four gold, seven silver and 26 bronze, in that time by the RNLI to reward “humane and intrepid exertions in saving life from shipwrecks on our coasts, deemed sufficiently conspicuous to merit honourable distinction”.

The medal can be awarded for saving life at sea in gold, silver and bronze.

Bidding on the former lifeboat station will take place on March 26.

RYANAIR bosses have announced a major Easter sale – with flights staring from €19.99.

But jetsetters need to act fast before all seats are snapped up.

Flight prices have been slashed to a number of exciting destinations from Dublin including London from €14.99, Brussels €16.99, Amsterdam €19.99, Paris €21.99 and Santiago from €32.64.

The Easter getaway sale kicks off tomorrow with fares from just €19.99 for April travel.

THREE of Britain’s busiest motorways will shut over the next few days amidst a string of weekend closures.

Motorists have been warned they face significant disruption as major works get underway on the M25, M6, and M62.

The Junction 10 gyratory on the M25, which provides access to the A3, will close from 9pm on Friday until 6am on Monday, February 24, meaning there will be no interchange between the two routes.

Despite the closure, it is only the slip roads and roundabout that will be affected, and drivers on the A3 will still be able to continue through journeys, as will those on the M25.

National Highways confirmed there are diversion routes in place, taking drivers on local routes including the A320, A245, and A243 to avoid the closed junction.

These routes will all be signposted and are specifically designed to avoid London’s ULEZ, meaning you won’t pick up any unwanted fines.

Local access will still be available via the A3 northbound off slip to Painshill Junction.

The work comes as part of a £317million project to add extra lanes at the junction, and will see the major motorway closed in both directions between March 7 and 10, and between March 21 and 24.

Elsewhere, the M62 westbound between Manchester and Warrington will be closed overnight and will also suffer from lane restrictions in the daytime over the weekend.

The busy route will close fully between Junction 12 at Eccles and Junction 11 at Birchwood at 9pm on Friday before reopening at 6am on Saturday.

This will not only take place on February 21 but next weekend also.

During the daytime on both Saturdays, two of the four westbound lanes will be shut until late evening.

Diversion routes have been put in place, taking motorists via the anti-clockwise M60, westbound M56, and northbound M6.

Travelling football fans heading to watch Manchester United play Everton in Liverpool on Saturday have been advised to consider using the M56 and M6 to avoid delays.

The M6 is also facing disruption from Monday as closures are put in place to allow a £4million drainage improvement project to begin.

From Monday until Saturday, March 29, there will be overnight lane closures on part of the motorway, starting just south of Junction 34 at Lancaster to Junction 35 at Carnforth.

The road will also see daytime closures beginning from Monday, March 31.

National Highways said the improvements were being done to repair drainage systems and central reservation safety barriers as well as to clear blockages and improve the southbound roadside verge.

Cameron Newsham, National highways project manager, said: “Doing the drainage and safety barrier work at the same time means reducing future roadworks in the area – minimising inconvenience for motorway users.

“In any case, the motorway will be open to drivers at all times as we’ll be carrying out all the work by only using lane closures both during the daytime and overnight.

“While we are not expecting this work to disrupt anyone’s journey we appreciate drivers like to know what work is going on when they come across traffic management and lane closures.”

The work will be carried out in three phases using lane closures, with the motorway remaining open throughout.

While a 50mph speed limit will be in place for some sections, the national speed limit will apply elsewhere.
