A BRITISH holidaymaker has been found dead in a Costa del Sol hotel.
Police are investigating after being alerted by staff at the hotel in the popular resort of Fuengirola.

The man, aged 60, had been due to check out of the room at the unnamed hotel yesterday.
Emergency responders including medical staff were sent to the scene but all they could do was confirm his death.
A post-mortem is due to take place in the coming hours and will determine how the police investigation proceeds.
The results of the autopsy will be sent to a judge placed in charge of the probe.
Well-placed sources said no signs of violence were found in the room or on the dead man’s body signalling a crime had taken place.
The tourist is thought to have been staying in the room alone.
Earlier this week it emerged a British woman and her son had been found dead at their home in Alhaurin el Grande a half-hour drive inland from Fuengirola.
Police believe the 90-year-old starved to death after her 63-year-old son died of natural causes.
Their bodies were discovered after local social services raised the alarm days after an ambulance was called to their home to assist the unnamed woman.
Her son is understood to have been her registered carer.
Last Thursday two British pensioners were found dead at their Costa Blanca home.
Firefighters discovered the bodies of the man and woman, who police sources described as friends that lived together, at the residential property near the small town of San Fulgencio a 45-minute drive south of Alicante.
Staff at a local council social services department had raised the alarm.
There were no signs of violence at the scene and a subsequent post-mortem reinforced indicators the pair died of natural causes.
The man was 82 and the woman 74. Both are believed to have suffered chronic illnesses and had been categorised by social services as “vulnerable.”
The area where they were living is on a residential estate which is extremely popular with foreign pensioners.

THE phone of missing Brit journalist Charlotte Peet is still active but calls are going unanswered, Brazilian cops have said.
Investigators have also confirmed that while she purchased a ticket from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, she never used it, deepening the mystery surrounding her disappearance.
FacebookCharlotte Peet went missing in Brazil on February 8[/caption]
Social MediaCops say her mobile phone is still active but calls are going unanswered[/caption]
The 32-year-old, who reported from Brazil for major international outlets, was last heard from on February 8.
That day, she messaged a friend via WhatsApp saying she she was in São Paulo and looking for a place to stay in Rio.
The friend told her that her house was full, and the pair did not speak ever since.
The Special Tourist Assistance Unit in Rio de Janeiro confirmed that Charlotte’s phone remains on, but all calls go unanswered, Folha de Sao Paulo reports.
Investigators made several calls to the Brit’s device on Monday but were unable to get hold of her.
This led authorities to expand the search, checking hospitals and morgues in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, so far without success.
The case has now been transferred to São Paulo’s State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), as it was the last place she was known to be.
One of the biggest clues so far is that Peet bought a ticket from São Paulo to Rio but never used it.
Police are now investigating why she didn’t board and are working to track down security camera footage that could provide insights into her movements before she vanished.
Adding to the puzzle is her last activity on social media.
She wrote: “Hello. I’m looking for a double room in South West/East London: East Dulwich, Brixton, Herne Hill, Clapham, Balham, Streatham, Camberwell etc or would consider venturing east to the right place.
“I’m a 32-year-old journalist, friendly, respectful and organised. I love reading, keeping active and chatting to friends.
“Let me know if I sound like a good fit! Thanks!”
Peet, who has been working as a journalist in Brazil since 2020, briefly returned to London at the end of 2023 after her family expressed concerns about what they described as her “party life” in Brazil.
But she decided to return to the country in November.
He said that his daughter flew to Brazil where she had worked as a freelance journalist without telling her family.
Mr Peet said: “I wouldn’t say that it was normal, there was something on her mind obviously otherwise she would have let us know.”
“She was then traced to Gatwick Airport and was found to have boarded a plane to Sao Paulo and then the trail went cold.
“It’s very worrying but I don’t have any more to say, I’m very concerned but I just don’t know what’s going on, we’re just trying to pick up the pieces really.”
While police have not ruled out the possibility that Peet voluntarily cut contact with her loved ones, her family remains deeply concerned.
They have provided investigators with her bank account details, IMEI tracking information for her phone, and a copy of her passport in the hopes of finding her.
The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in Brazil has issued a statement urging authorities to intensify their search.
Meanwhile, Peet’s family has created an email address to collect any information about her whereabouts.

EASTENDERS legend Patsy Palmer has broken her silence on Martin’s death as she paid tribute to actor James Bye saying ‘you’ll be missed so much’.

Taking to Instagram afterwards, Patsy, 52, who plays Bianca Jackson, shared a grab from the installment, with a subtitle reading: “It’s only a nunny!”
The comedic line had come from Natalie Cassidy’s Sonia Fowler, who was giving birth within the derelict.
Heaping praise on James Bye, 40, for his performance, she wrote in her caption: “I can honestly say hand on heart that I loved every second of tonight.
“Doing a live episode of Eastenders again after so many years was spectacular. I loved how we had the comedy too amongst so much heartbreak. It was a beautiful mix of emotions.
“@jimmybye I just want to say you will be missed so much by everyone but you will go on to be the leading man that you deserve to be.
“Your performance was amazing tonight and just gorgeous for all the years as Martin Fowler.
“As for the rest of you and you all know who you are I think you are all such a beautiful bunch of actors and friends .
“Teamwork is always dreamwork and it certainly felt like a dream.
“@bbceastenders Thanks for including me in this journey, very honored. Congratulations to the writer and to @lancekneeshaw for directing.”
He had been crushed under a falling steel beam after rescuing Stacey from the wreckage of an explosion in the Queen Vic pub.
In heartbreaking scenes, he proposed and planned the next 40 years of their lives before the paramedics told Stacey that he would likely not survive his injuries.
Speaking on his dramatic exit, James said: “Saying goodbye is not easy, but after 10 years at EastEnders and on the night of the shows epic 40th anniversary – the time felt right.
“It’s an honour to leave on a story of this magnitude.
“A huge thank you to all the fans of the show – EastEnders wouldn’t be what it is without you – and to the BBC and EastEnders team for trusting me with this role for so many years.
“This fruit and veg man will always hold a special place in my heart.
“It’s time to look forward, and I’m incredibly excited for what the future holds. RIP Martin Fowler.”
Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw added: “It’s incredibly sad to say goodbye to James, who has been a much loved loyal company member for 10 years.
“James’ performance in tonight’s live episode was nothing short of outstanding and one that I know will touch so many of you watching at home due to his loveable portrayal of Martin Fowler, which has made him a firm favourite amongst the viewers.
“When discussing James’ exit, we knew that we needed to give Martin Fowler the big explosive storyline that his character deserved.
“To leave the show in such an emotional storyline, during a live episode is something incredibly courageous to do as an actor, and one that I’m sure will cement itself in EastEnders’ history.
“I would like to thank James for everything he’s given to EastEnders, and although we will all miss him here at Elstree, he will always remain a member of the EastEnders family and we wish him the best for the future.”

Katie Price's love life
We take a look back at the highs and lows of Katie Price's relationship history.
1996-1998: Katie got engaged to Gladiators star Warren Furman – aka Ace – with a £3,000 ring. But their relationship didn’t make it as far as ‘I do’.
1998-2000: Katie described Dane Bowers as ‘the love of her life’ but she broke up with the singer when he allegedly cheated on her.
2001: Footballer Dwight Yorke is the father of Katie’s eldest child Harvey. He has had very little to do with Harvey throughout his life.
2002: Rebounding from Dwight, Katie famously had one night of passion with Pop Idol star Gareth Gates, allegedly taking his virginity.
2002-2004: Katie was dating Scott Sullivan when she entered the jungle for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!. He threatened to “punch Peter’s lights out” when chemistry blossomed between her and Peter Andre.
2004-2009: The jungle romance resulted in Katie marrying Aussie pop star Peter. They had two kids, Junior and Princess, before their bitter split in 2009.
2010-2011: Fresh from her break-up with Peter, Katie enjoyed a whirlwind relationship and marriage with cage fighter Alex Reid. They split 20 months after their Las Vegas wedding.
2011: Katie briefly dated model Danny Cipriani… but it ended as quickly as it begun.

2019: Katie was linked to Charles Drury during her on-off relationship with Kris. Charles, who also dated Lauren Goodger, has always denied being in “official relationship” with her.
2020-2023: Car salesman Carl Woods took a shining to Katie in 2020. Their relationship was up and down for three years. They broke up for a final time last year.
2024-present: After weeks of rumours, Katie confirmed her relationship with Married At First Sight star JJ Slater in February this year.
“So as soon as Harvey is back living near me, I’m going to get him on Cameo and doing club PAs.”
Harvey, who has Prader-Willi Syndrome, autism, and partial blindness, had been preparing to move to a new residentical care placement in just four-and-a-half weeks when Katie was suddenly told the facility could no longer cater for him.
“They’ve changed management and said they won’t be able to cater for Harv because he’s too difficult,” she explained on her podcast.
“So now I’ve got to find another placement for him… so yeah, more drama to deal with.”

EASTENDERS fans are convinced they have worked out the next major return to Albert Square – and it could be happening pretty soon.

BBC Pictures' Digital PictureBex left EastEnders to go travelling but viewers think the sad news will bring her home[/caption]
Fans of the soap have taken to X to share their theories about the potential comeback.
One wrote: “She’s definitely coming back.”
Another asked: “Are they gonna bring Bex back for Martin’s funeral?”
A third added: “I would love to see Bex on my screen again. I loved herrr.”
And a fourth said: “With Martin sadly gone, I hope we see Bex make an appearance for his funeral.”
Bex (Jasmine Armfield) was last seen in Walford in 2020 when she made the decision to leave for a fresh start, heading off to travel the world after a difficult few years.
She had struggled with her mental health and attempted to take her own life before making the choice to leave Walford behind.
Her departure was emotional, and her parents Sonia and Martin were initially against her plans, but they ultimately gave her their blessing.
At the time of her exit, the soap’s Executive Producer Jon Sen praised Jasmine’s portrayal of Bex, saying: “She’s brought something incredibly special to the role of Bex and we will all miss her – both as a friend and colleague.”
Jasmine also shared her feelings on leaving the show, saying: “I’ve had such a fantastic time playing Bex Fowler and loved being part of EastEnders, but now feels like the right time to try something new.”
With Martin now gone, fans believe the character could make a dramatic return to pay tribute to her father – and possibly even stick around for longer.
EastEnders has been making a habit of bringing back former stars recently, with the soap’s 40th anniversary featuring a shocking return for Queen Vic legend Angie Watts.
The secret cameo left both viewers and cast members stunned.
Anita Dobson, who plays Angie, triumphantly declared that she managed to keep her lips sealed about the surprise comeback.
The actress only informed her husband about the scene, keeping friends and even other EastEnders co-stars in the dark.

CORONATION Street fans have noticed a huge blunder with Julie Carp’s return as she made a grand comeback after 10 years on the show.
Played by Katy Cavanagh, the sister of Eileen Grimshaw, was at Chariot Square Hotel at the same time as her nephew, Todd.
ITVJulie Carp has made a grand return to Coronation Street[/caption]
ITVGeorge Shuttleworth failed to recognise her despite a huge photo hanging in the living room[/caption]
Julie can be seen prominently in the top right corner of the frameITV
Spotting his aunt in the hotel for the singles Tea Dance, Todd exclaimed: “I don’t believe it, Julie!”
“Todd! Look at you!” she replied, adding: “I still can’t believe you’re here.”
Whilst the reunion between Julie and Todd was rather rosy, for Eileen’s boyfriend George Shuttleworth, it didn’t quite go to plan.
George seemed bemused as to who Julie was and appeared to not recognise her face at all.
However, baffled Coronation Street viewers have pointed out a huge blunder as they figured out how George must either be totally oblivious or pretending to not know who Julie is after a ‘giveaway clue’.
Eileen has long had a picture frame with all of her family members hanging proudly in the home of the Grimshaw’s.
As well as her children, one of the most prominent people in the photo frame is Julie herself.
It left fans baffled as to how George would fail to recognise her given he lives in a house where her photo hangs on the wall.
Moreover, it left fans questioning how George would never have even encountered a photo of Julie throughout his relationship with Eileen.
Reacting in utter bemusement, one fan penned: “Hang on, George doesn’t even recognise Julie Carp as Eileen’s sister….yet there’s a photo of her in Eileen’s house????”
It left another fan quipping: “It’s Gone ridiculous.”
Before a third went on to joke: “Yep thought that straight away!
“Mind you he’s only lived there a couple of years and there’s so many people crammed into the house there’s probably someone stood in front of the picture!”
Whilst viewers were delighted to see Julie make her comeback, it was clear that she was harbouring a huge secret as she reacted cagey at the thought of coming into contact with her sister Eileen.

A SAVVY mum shared her go-to recipes for stretching your grocery shop.
Her low-effort meals are created with fussy children in mind and will only set you back a quid per portion.
Instagram/@_myfirstmealsA savvy mum shared her go-to recipes that will stretch your grocery shop this half term[/caption]
Instagram/@_myfirstmealsHer meals included loaded potatoes, curry, fish finger sandwiches, a pasta bake, and soup[/caption]
In her viral video, Instagram user Grace Mortimer (@_myfirstmeals) talked her 638,000 followers through five recipes.
“I have got five delicious new recipes that come in under a pound per portion from Aldi to help you through this February half-term,” she told her audience.
“I don’t know about you but I find that school holidays can just be a lot, there’s a lot going on, there’s a lot more thinking, planning, cooking, and it can be quite expensive.”
Grace decided to lay out a meal plan that was aimed at keeping costs low so parents have more money to spend on activities during the break.
First, she showed her viewers a creaming broccoli soup, which she topped with parmesan croutons.
The Instagrammer broke down the cost of the simple dish, which amounted to just 87p per serving.
Next, she constructed a fish finger sandwich on a bap, with tartar sauce, lettuce, and a side of oven chips.
This handy dinner only take minutes to make and costs just 97p per serving.
She also recommended a roasted cauliflower curry, which she created using all Aldi ingredients.
Served over a bed of white rice, this dish breaks down to just 96p per serving.
For a wholesome comfort dish, Grace made pizza-inspired loaded jacket potatoes.
Heaped with red peppers, red onions, and mozzarella cheese, each potato will only cost you £1.01 to create.
And for her personal favourite, the busy mum demonstrated how to make her “incredibly easy no-cook pasta sauce”.
She explained how the handy recipe is “just a case of popping things in a blender and pouring it over cooked pasta”.
For this recipe, she used one tin of chopped tomatoes, one tin of sliced carrots, and one jar of grilled peppers.
How to cut the cost of your grocery shop
SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from comparison site Money.co.uk about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:
Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
Check the small print – It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards
She boiled 500 grams of pasta before draining it and setting it aside.
Next, Grace used a hand held blender to combine her three vegetables into a puree.
She then poured the pasta into an over dish and covered it in the homemade sauce.
After topping with mozzarella, she placed the pasta bake into the oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese began to bubble.
Grace revealed that she highly recommends trying out her pasta recipe.
Her personal favourite dish breaks down to just 89p per serving.
She explained that the portions are huge so they ensure “you’re getting quite a lot of bang for your buck”.

THE HISTORY OF DUNNES STORES
DUNNES Stores opened its first store on Patrick Street in Cork in 1944 - and it was an instant hit.
Shoppers from all over the city rushed to the store to snap up quality clothing at pre-war prices in Ireland’s first ‘shopping frenzy’.
During the excitement, a window was forced in and the police had to be called to help control the crowds hoping to bag founder Ben Dunne’s ‘Better Value’ bargains.
Dunnes later opened more stores in the 1950s and began to sell groceries in 1960 – starting with apples and oranges.
The retailer said: “Fruit was expensive at the time and Ben Dunne yet again offered Better Value than anyone else in town.
“Over time, our food selection has grown and that spirit of good value has remained strong.
“Now we offer a wide range of carefully-sourced foods from both local Irish suppliers and overseas.”
The retailer’s first Dublin store opened its doors in 1957 on Henry Street and a super store on South Great Georges Street was unveiled in 1960.
They added: “In 1971, our first Northern Irish store opened, and many others soon followed.
“Expansion continued in the 1980s in Spain, and later into Scotland and England.”
Dunnes now has 142 stores and employs 15,000 people.

And although the academy kids’ day out was due to an injury crisis, former star Jones reckons that the bench is a sign of a promising future coming through the ranks at Carrington.
Jones, who has been working with the academy at United, singled out 17-year-old striker Chido Obi as one of the youngsters with enough talent to pull the club out of the slump.
Comparing the striker to some of the established players at Old Trafford, Jones labelled Obi as “an animal”.
Speaking to the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, he said: “Working in and around the academy and helping those young players develop, United have some really good and talented young players coming through.
“The squad had a lot of injuries against Tottenham and the bench was full of kids, but there were some talented players on that bench.
“People might not know a lot about them now, but they certainly will in the next few years.
“I think you look at Kobbie Mainoo, top player, you look at Chido who we’ve just signed from Arsenal, who’s an animal.
“You look at Amad who had a couple of really good loans, and I remember watching him winning it against Liverpool in extra time last season, and I had said at that time he’d play a huge part in the next season.

“I played with Amad for a year or two and you could see then that the quality he had was really good and really strong.
“As I said there’s a great crop of young players ready to be given the chance and integrated into the team.”
Chido Obi was the only player to get off the bench for Ruben Amorim‘s side during the defeat to Spurs.
The Danish teenager didn’t actually manage to get a touch of the ball during his three minute cameo, but is tipped for big things inside the game.
Obi arrived in Manchester this summer after signing from rivals Arsenal where he had smashed youth records with his goalscoring exploits.
He managed an astonishing 32 goals in just 18 U18 Premier League appearances for the Gunners last season, and has scored nine in 11 for United’s youth ranks this term.
Amorim will be hoping that Obi can replicate that goalscoring prowess at senior level too, with both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund misfiring up top at the moment.
Zirkzee has scored just once in his last 13 appearances, while Hojlund has now gone 15 consecutive games without finding the back of the net.
United face Everton in the early kick-off at Goodison Park on Saturday and boss Amorim could call upon Obi to try and turn things around given the club’s dire situation at the moment.
