Jim Delahunt’s tips on Celtic at Hibs, Rangers v St Mirren, all this weekend’s football fixtures plus his big £330 acca

AYR UNITED couldn’t hold on to a 2-0 lead at Falkirk last week but Scott Brown’s men can get all three points at home to Livingston today at 13/10.

Jay Henderson’s penalty and a second from George Oakley looked to have Ayr on course for a famous victory but Liam Henderson got the Bairns back to 2-1 at half time and Scott Arfield secured a point for the league leaders.

Wycombe Wanderers are also part of our betting expert’s five-team acca[/caption]

That was still an excellent point for the Somerset side as they bounced back from their Scottish Cup exit to Hibs and they can’t afford to drop the tempo with third placed Livingston heading down the M77.

Both games between the pair this have gone to the away side by a one goal margin this season but Ayr are playing even better than when they won at Livingston just before Christmas and Davie Martindale’s side disappointed last week at home to Dunfermline.

That 0-0 draw kept them in the three-way title race as the top two drew at the Falkirk stadium but Ayr look a constant goal threat in every game at the moment and the home win gets my vote despite plenty of money for the draw down to 2/1.

RAITH had a 3-0 win over Partick after their Scottish Cup trip to Celtic and Barry Robson’s new side have a great chance to rubber-stamp that performance with another home win over Hamilton at 8/13.

Third-bottom Accies lost 2-0 at Morton midweek after last week’s surprise win at giant-killing Queens Park and Robson now has the play-offs on the radar with two games in hand over currently managerless Partick who host resurgent bottom club Airdrie.

I tipped SPURS to beat Manchester United at 6/4 last weekend and I’m backing Ange Postecoglou‘s mood to improve even further with another three points away to Ipswich at 10/11.

Tottenham lost at home to the Tractor Boys back in November but they’ve now won back-to-back league games either side of those cup defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa and Ipswich have only won once and scored nine goals at Portman Road all season.

BLACKBURN have recorded back-to-back wins since David Lowe took interim charge and the Ewood Park caretaker can make it three on the spin against fellow stand-in Alan Sheehan at Swansea.

The Swans parted company with Luke Williams last week after another defeat away to Stoke, but Rovers have barely blinked since John Eustace left for Derby and 7/4 looks a fair price to get another three points.

Leeds, Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland are head and shoulders above the rest in the Championship but fifth placed Rovers top a group of nine clubs chasing a likely two play-off spots and Lowe appears to have the backing of his players.

Birmingham should be nine points clear at the top of League One before second placed WYCOMBE kick-off at home to Wigan but the Chairboys have to keep on winning their own games and look good for another three points.

New boss Mike Dodds had lost to Preston on penalties (FA Cup) and drawn at Crawley since taking over from the Luton-bound Matt Bloomfield but he bagged a 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday and now faces Shaun Maloney‘s Wigan.

The visitors haven’t won any of their last five games and this looks an excellent chance for Wycombe to keep at least five points clear of third top Wrexham by recording a second home win in five days at a general 8/11.

The top three in League Two are all away from home this weekend but fourth placed NOTTS COUNTY can beat poor travellers Tranmere at 4/7 and BROMLEY should see off Harrogate at 19/20.

Saturday SINGLE

Elgin’s home record reads 8-2-1 but EDINBURGH CITY are level with their hosts on points and Michael McIndoe’s side look the Borough Briggs value at 13/5.

Weekend ACCA

Three homes and two away this week with the five 3pm kick-offs paying out at 32/1.

Ayr 13/10

Raith 8/13

Spurs 10/11

Blackburn 7/4

Wycombe 8/11

HIBERNIAN V CELTIC   12.30pm  Sky Sports

I tipped Celtic to win to nil against Dundee United here last Saturday and the champions’ 3-0 success ensured a return of 10/11 with the home win priced up at best odds of 2/11.

Brendan Rogers’ players were superb in Munich’s Allianz Arena on Tuesday but it’s back to league business in Leith and David Gray’s Hibs are unbeaten in TWELVE games since losing at Celtic Park in early December.

The champions are 4/9 to move 16 points clear before Rangers kick-off against St Mirren but Hibs have only lost one goal in five games and the draw’s a sporting bet here at an average 7/2.

RANGERS V ST MIRREN

I tipped Saints to bank a point against Hibs at 11/5  last Saturday and that ultimately goalless draw ensured Stephen Robinson‘s 14/1 Paisley side travel to Ibrox today as a top six club.

Rangers are 2/11 after putting the Queen’s Park debacle behind them with a 3-1 win at in-form Hearts and Ibrox should be buzzing for the players’ return given this week’s news of a prospective takeover.

St Mirren beat Rangers on Boxing Day and the Buddies have scored the same amount of goals on the road (15) as they have at home so Rangers to win and BTTS is my idea of the bet here at a general 13/8.

ABERDEEN V KILMARNOCK

The Dons ended their 98 day wait for a league win with last week’s 2-1 success at Dundee and Jimmy Thelin’s players can surely be fancied to keep the feelgood factor going at home to Kilmarnock.

Goals from Kevin Nisbet and Top Keskinen were enough to see off last week’s hosts but Killie arrive in the Granite City chasing a third straight league win and sniffing a top six spot if St Mirren lose at Ibrox.

Both games between the two have gone to the home side this season and while toe Dons have been coupon busters supreme for many a punter since their superb start to the season, I’ll take them to win here at 23/20.

DUNDEE UNITED V MOTHERWELL

United could have the influential Craig Sibbald back on the field at some point in this game and Tannadice boss Jim Goodwin says he’s been searching back to see how new visiting boss Michael Wimmer likes to set his teams up.

Motherwell badly need a shake-up after last week’s fifth straight defeat at home to Ross County but the fourth placed Terrors could do with a win themselves and I’ll take them to get it at a general 4/6.

United have failed to even score at Kilmarnock or Celtic and haven’t won in four since success at St Mirren but this looks a great opportunity to get back to winning form as the new ‘Well boss settles in.

MK Dons to change badge as supporters make ‘unanimous decision’ following two-decade backlash to move from Wimbledon

MK DONS are set to change their crest – and fans were given the chance to vote for the club’s new badge.

The club were formed in 2004 after Wimbledon FC sensationally upped sticks to Milton Keynes in an unprecedented move.

Dons supporters have been given a choice of three new crests for the team[/caption]

The first season for the club was the 2004-05 League One campaign, in which they were relegated.

And over 20 years later, the Dons brass have allowed fans to choose the team’s new crest.

An excerpt of a club statement: “After 20 years of football in Milton Keynes, MK Dons are pleased to reveal three new crest designs for supporter consultation as we look to evolve our club identity ahead of the 25/26 season.

“Following initial consultation with the MK Dons Supporters’ Board, it became apparent there was a clear desire for an evolution of the club’s identity.

“From the crest on our kits to the branding around Stadium MK and branding across all digital platforms.

“After extensive work behind the scenes, we’re now delighted to be able to offer all season ticket holders (including Club Red, Club Gold, Club Platinum, and Club Black hospitality seasonal members) and business stakeholders the chance to have your say in helping to choose our new club crest.”

Supporters had up until midnight on February 20 to choose from three new crests.

Dons CEO Neil Hart said of the revamping of the badge: “When the new ownership group acquired the club last summer, one of the many things we wanted to learn more about was the club’s identity and branding.

“This started with informal conversations among staff before the possibility of a brand evolution was brought to the MK Dons Supporters’ Board last month.

“Their reaction was one of unanimous enthusiasm, as we look to celebrate the past 20 years of football in Milton Keynes while also paving the way for a new era at the football club.

“This feels like an important milestone in the club’s history and an opportunity for us all to review our brand identity.

“As we continue to be focused on improving every aspect of our football club we want our supporters to be at the heart of any important decision-making affecting the club.

“So, take your time, review the designs and let us have your feedback.

“We can assure supporters we will only evolve the club’s brand and identity with the full support of our loyal fan base and key partners.”

The Dons are currently 16th in the League Two table and will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, travelling to Valley Parade to take on Bradford.

Cheapest NEW cars in Britain revealed – from top-model Dacia flying off the shelves to re-designed Citroen

THE cheapest new cars in Britain have been revealed from a top-model Dacia flying off the shelves to a re-designed Citroen.

Experts at AutoCar complied their top 10 best value for money, latest model motors, available on the market at the moment.

The Dacia Sandero costs just £14,200[/caption]

First up we have the Dacia Sandero, which is on the market for just £14,200.

It became the second-best selling car in Europe last year, and the UK’s cheapest new motor.

It seats five and offers plenty of load space with a 328-litre boot.

While it may not be the smoothest drive, it still performs well – and can’t be beaten on value.

Experts were impressed with the Citroën C3 and its price tag[/caption]

The car experts also recommended the Citroën C3 which is marked up at £17,990.

It is the fourth-generation C3 and powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 99bhp.

A hybrid version is also set to be released soon which will cost around £20,000.

Meanwhile the Dacia Spring is slightly cheaper at £14,995 and the first EV to come in at such a low price.

The entry-level car only has 44bhp motor and its 26.8kWh battery has a max range of just 137 miles on full charge.

However, for the incredible price-tag, car gurus have still ranked it in the Top 10 as a worthwhile runaround car.

Next up is the Leapmotor T03, another electric car with a slightly further range and higher horsepower.

It boasts 165miles fully charged, with 94bhp and 117lb ft of torque.

For £15,995 it offers an 8in digital display behind the steering wheel and a 10in infotainment touchscreen with sat-nav.

This SUV made the top 10 list for it’s high design, performance and cost ratings.

Motor experts at Autocar said the £15,700 model was “ergonomically sound”, offered a “spacious cabin” and “frugal engines”.

However, it did not score so high on safety features, steering and amenities.

Kia Picanto

An entry level spec will set buyers back £15,845 for a very basic four-seater version.

It has been stripped back of any extras such as Apple CarPlay, but does come with a decent seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.

For a little bit of extra cash, the Hyundai i10 does offer slightly more on their lowest level spec.

Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available but it is essentially very similar to the Kia Picanto.

Car experts hailed it as cheap to run and easy to maneuver, although it is a little tight on space.

MG 3

MG3 Hybrid is a fun, comfy car that’s perfect for short journeys and city driving – but the best bit is the price[/caption]

The MG 3 will set buyers back £16,495, but boasts a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 113bhp.

The hatchback has been voted one of the best value for money on the market and described as “well worth considering” by Matt Saunders at AutoCar.

It also comes as a hybrid which offers a three-speed automatic gearbox, a 134bhp electric motor and a small battery.

Toyota Aygo X

The Toyota Aygo X only costs £16,515[/caption]

Motor whizzes described this car as a “grown up” version of the Aygo city car, as it now presents as more of a mini SUV.

It only costs £16,515 and there’s decent cargo space with 231litres available.

Although, while it scores positively on comfort and the way it drives, it isn’t the fastest.

“The 71bhp 1.0-litre three-pot is severely lacking in torque and feels treacle-like up until 6500rpm,” said the experts at AutoCar.

Renault Clio

Finally, the Renault Clio which is the most expensive on the list at £18,595.

“The Clio’s cabin design and perceived quality are all much higher than you might imagine if you haven’t sat in one for a few years, while its steering is intuitive and its chassis gives a sense of cornering balance. In other words, it’s good fun,” wrote AutoCar gurus.

Jack Warrick, Staff Writer, added: “The Clio is a conversation for supermini class leadership in which it hasn’t been involved for some time.”

This comes as the four best electric motors have been revealed including a spacious £22k supermini and family-friendly SUV with 372 miles of range.

My nine-month-old stopped breathing after I put her baby seat on the kitchen counter – don’t make the same mistake I did

A DISTRAUGHT mother has spoken out about a traumatising accident involving her child, saying she “still dreams about” the “worst day” of her life.

She urged others not to make the same mistake and told them never to put their baby’s seat “on any surface other than the floor.”

The traumatised mum shared her story

Her daughter was rushed to hospital after falling from her kitchen units[/caption]

Mum-of-three Ashley posted the clip to her TikTok page, @messybunmommy1, captioning it the “most vulnerable” post she’s ever made.

Her video has racked up over 4.2 million views already, as grateful parents heed her advice.

Last June, Ashley was cooking with her partner in their kitchen.

Her nine-month-old baby was happily resting in her seat, which Ashley and her partner had placed on top of their kitchen counters.

Describing it as “convenient” and “easy,” they did so regularly, to allow their baby to see what they were doing.

And plenty of unknowing parents do the same thing everyday, unaware of the potential risk.

Horrifyingly, tragedy struck as Ashley said: “In the span of like five seconds my daughter kicked herself back and fell in the seat onto the floor.”

Rushing over to pick their baby up and check her for injury, the traumatised mum said initially her child seemed OK.

But as she held her closer, she felt her baby “tense up” and saw her “eyes roll back.”

Her daughter then began to have a “grand mal” seizure (which the NHS says is now known as a tonic-clonic seizure) and to her terror, stopped breathing.

Ashley had no idea what to do and called emergency services for help while her daughter seized for a full minute and a half.

Once her child’s seizures stopped, Ashley administered CPR until the emergency services arrived, who were initially concerned her tot could have a broken neck.

A CT scan at the hospital revealed her neck thankfully wasn’t broken, but the child had sustained a “skull fracture above her ear.”

Ashley said they were then let go as the hospital told them there was nothing more they could do to help, and that they were extremely lucky that their child hadn’t suffered a brain bleed.

She says: “Fast forward four months, she’s having seizures again, we don’t know what they’re from – I truly believe it’s from her fall.”

She said since the accident, seeing influencers and other people sit their kids on their counter tops has made her want to “scream from the roof tops.”

Struggling through tears, she told viewers: “I just want people to understand how dangerous it is, how truly your life can change in an instant from one decision – so please don’t let it be this decision.”

Grateful viewers react

Viewers in the comments were quick to praise her brave honesty, and thanked her for sharing her story.

“The bravest and most compassionate video I’ve ever seen. You’ve started a movement that will save lives,” said one person.

“We put our seven-month-old in seats like this all the time on our counter tops. THANK YOU for sharing. We will be making a change after hearing your story!” said another parent.

“As a paramedic and paediatric nurse, please tell your story again and again, because this happens a lot,” said someone else.

“As someone who works in an ER, THANK YOU for sharing this vulnerable post. It will save innocent babies lives. As a mother, I’m virtually hugging you to soothe your guilt. Prayers,” said somebody else.

“Watching this while feeding my nine-month-old in his up-seat on my kitchen island. Will never put him up there again,” commented another viewer.

How to baby-proof your house

IF you've got a baby coming very soon, here's our top tips on how to get your home ready for their arrival...

Secure Furniture and Appliances: Use brackets or straps to anchor heavy furniture and TVs to the wall. Ensure that large appliances like fridges and ovens are stable and cannot tip over.

Install Safety Gates: Place gates at the top and bottom of stairs. Use gates to block off rooms that are not baby-proofed.

Cover Electrical Outlets: Use outlet covers or plates to prevent little fingers from poking into sockets. Ensure that electrical cords are out of reach or secured.

Lock Cabinets and Drawers: Install child-proof locks on cabinets and drawers, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. Store hazardous substances, sharp objects, and small items that can be swallowed out of reach.

Use Corner and Edge Protectors: Attach soft corner and edge protectors to furniture with sharp edges. Consider using them on low tables, countertops, and fireplace hearths.

Secure Windows and Doors: Install window guards or locks to prevent windows from opening more than a few inches. Use door knob covers and door stoppers to prevent pinched fingers.

Maintain a Safe Sleep Environment: Use a firm mattress and avoid placing pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals in the cot. Ensure the cot meets current safety standards.

Keep Small Items Out of Reach: Regularly check the floor for small objects that could be choking hazards. Be mindful of items like coins, buttons, and small toys.

Adjust Water Heater Temperature: Set your water heater to a maximum of 49°C (120°F) to prevent scalding. Always test bath water temperature before placing your baby in.

Use Baby Monitors: Place baby monitors in the nursery to keep an eye on your little one. Ensure the monitor cords are out of reach to avoid strangulation hazards.

By taking these steps, you can create a safer environment for your baby.
