Hidden sign Meg is ‘returning to life before Harry’ – as PR pro claims cringey mood board was STAGED by Netflix

MEGHAN Markle’s mood board shows hidden signs she is returning to life before Harry, a branding expert has slammed.

The Duchess, 43, posted what appeared to be a vision board for her new lifestyle business, As Ever, with handwritten notes and never before seen pics.

Meghan released information about her latest rebrand earlier this week[/caption]

The mum-of-two shared the image with her Instagram followers last night under the caption: “From memory lane to the memories I’m making today…”.

But PR expert Nick Ede labelled the move “cringey” and all “about Meghan” – and thinks it was staged by Netflix.

I don’t know how many people remember the Tig…she did create this brand, which was quite similar to the early days of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, but never really got to as big as that

Nick EdePR expert

He also believed the Duchess’ aim is to resurrect her original lifestyle blog The Tig – and pull in fans along with it.

The Tig was wildly successful when Meghan launched it in 2014 during her Suits era.

She garnered thousands of loyal readers with her beauty, food, travel, and fashion tips – but shut down the site in 2017 ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry.

Mr Ede told The Sun: “Memory Lane to her is not being part of the royal family.

“It’s not actually about her own family. It’s about the Tig which was her blog, which she did when she was doing Suits.

“She’s referencing that, she even has a little bit from the Tig on that mood board.

“There’s nothing to do with even a reference to Suits, her old job.

“Her memory Lane is pictures of her and Harry and their dog that sadly passed away. But it’s very much about her life, her life with Harry, and referencing a past life when she had a brand and I think that’s really what this is about.

“This is trying to sort of almost get, engage all the people who used to read the take to hopefully come back and be a part of the new Meghan brand.”

There was one drawing on the mood board titled ‘Signature Tig Cup’.

It has images of what appears to be mint, cucumber, grapefruit, lime and ice.

“Some of the little notices she’s put on there about love and my bum being bigger than my heart, they’re all references back to when she was on the Tig, because that’s got a Tig little motif on it,” Mr Ede added.

He continued: “This is sort of like an edit that she’s created of her moving forward, and what she wants people to sort of associate her with.

“It’s very sanitized. It’s not really about Harry. It’s not really about the royal family. It’s not really about her family, it’s about Meghan.”

But he added: “I don’t know how many people remember the Tig. To be honest it was something that she was very, very passionate about, and she did create this brand, which was quite similar to the early days of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, but never really got to as big as that.

“And I think Megan has always wanted to really do that. So you know, when we talk about authenticity, this is what she’s trying to do.”

Speaking of Meghan moving forward with As Ever, and how she wants to be perceived, the PR expert said “Netflix are very clever” in staging the marketing.

He continued: “I think Netflix are very clever in what they’re doing. I think they know that food is actually pretty well on their channel.

“They know that people enjoy watching lifestyle programs. But this is going to be really different.”

But, Mr Ede highlighted how fans have been hearing about the brand ever since hints were dropped under the previous name American Riviera Orchard.

Meg to be axed by Netflix in heartbeat if she can’t deliver

By Ryan Merrifield

MEGHAN Markle will be axed by Netflix in a heartbeat if she can’t deliver – as she finally stops using the royals to cash in, an expert has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex’s new cookery show With Love, Meghan is set to launch on the streaming service next month – coinciding with her new lifestyle brand As Ever.

Royal author Hugo Vickers said the reaction to the recent trademarking issues and plagiarism row sparked by the last minute re-brand from American Riviera Orchard exemplify the “hostility” Meghan attracts.

It comes after the mayor of Porreres in Majorca said she is considering legal action over the duchess’ new logo apparently copying the town’s centuries’ old coat of arms.

And the owner of family-run New York-based clothing brand As Ever appealed to Meg to change the name to avoid him losing business.

Mr Vickers said many new brands experience teething issues, adding that “there’s almost nothing in the world that’s new”.

But said the reaction to Meg’s U-turn highlights how polarising she can be.

He said: “She’s bound to be just being attacked because people want to attack her, and maybe actually, they’re also jumping on the bandwagon.”

Mr Vickers said such bad publicity isn’t likely to upset Netflix because it will “presumably like any amount of publicity that this engenders, because it’ll get people to watch the show”.

“A company like Netflix wants value for money… they have to deliver,” he continued.

“I suspect that if it doesn’t work, then it’ll get axed like everything else, because that’s what happens in the commercial world. You sink or swim. It’s a tough world out there.

“I think in the end you have to come up with substance, and it’ll be interesting to see what sort of substance is produced by this programme.”

Since stepping down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020, Meg and Prince Harry have been criticised for monetising their regal ties.

However, the duchess’ latest Instagram post, a mood board alluding to the new cookery show, ignores the royals completely – despite her adding: “From memory lane to the memories I’m making today…”

Instead it features old quotes from her now-defunct blog The Tig, as well as a drawing of her, Prince Harry and her late dog Guy.

Referring to the lack of mentions of the royals and Meg’s own family or childhood, Mr Vickers said it was “rather wise of her to do that”, because it could have “backfired”.

“We know perfectly well that she doesn’t get on with her own family…” he continued.

“As for the royal family, well, she has to be very careful about using them.

“We know that she has that connection, and she’s very wise not to push it any further, because I think that’s backfired.

“So you know, to be fair to her, she’s starting to branch out in a new direction.”

Mr Vickers added: “It’s reinventing herself. And that’s what people do, and that’s in a way, I suppose what you you have to do if you’re going to be a celebrity.”

The name triggered a litany of stumbling blocks for the Duchess and her team so was ultimately scrapped.

Meghan has been revealing snippets of products, such as jam and dog biscuits, for nearly a year – but with no concrete items available on the market.

“It’s interesting to see if people are going to be fatigued by it already before it’s even out,” said Mr Ede.

“That’s one of the biggest issues with all of this.”

Meghan’s collage posted yesterday included sweet messages, inspirational quotes and a water colour painting of Harry and herself walking their late pooch Guy.

The investment here from Netflix and from herself, I think will prove that it will be, hopefully a big hit

Mr Ede

The Duchess previously shared a heartfelt tribute to her beloved dog early last month after his passing.

But fans were delighted to be shown the latest insight into Meg’s new venture – which she announced this week.

As Ever labels which appear to read ‘Raspberry Spread’ could also be seen pinned to the white framed corkboard.

There were four orange post-it notes scattered between professional photographs and sketches.

Another product hint could be luxury napkins, as fans spotted material cuttings embroidered with the As Ever logo.

There’s also a collection of artistic shots, from roses, to fruit, as well as some of black and white shots of Meghan herself.

She can be seen posing while taking a photograph in another image.

Some of her inspirational messages read: “Stay close to people who feel like sunshine”.

“I love you with all my butt. I would say heart but my butt is bigger,” read another.

A third said: “You cannot make everyone happy, you are not a jar of Nutella.”

“Not to spoil the ending for you, but everything is going to be okay,” and “Happiness looks gorgeous on you”, were also pinned up.

Other collage additions included a California 33 symbol, a smiley pancake face and a gift certificate to Chez Panisse Restaurant and Cafe in Berkley.

‘STAGED’

But Mr Ede believed the whole mood board was “staged” by Netflix as part of “a huge marketing plan”.

“I doubt whether Megan’s actually had very much to do with this,” he added and claimed it was “curated by a team of marketeers”.

“She’s becoming a proper influencer.”

“This is a way of marketing her brand. And it’s very interesting. You know, Megan’s got this personal Instagram site but she’s going to be using that to promote everything that she’s going to be doing, moving forward,” He added.

“This really is her shop window. So she’s going to be using this for those candid, inverted commas moments that she has talking about the change of name.

“But she’s also going to be using it with to promote her show. And so this is a prime example of that of this kind of cryptic mood board with little Easter eggs in there to get people excited to find out what’s more, what more is going to be on this show, and what Megan’s going to be bringing to market.

“But this is definitely, you know Meghan Markle, using her Instagram as a means of marketing.”

But Mr Ede told how he believes there is a lot pinned on As Ever and With Love, Meghan.

“There’s lots of things that she’s tried and tested, but they haven’t worked,” he continued.

“This is a prime example of a lot of people investing a lot of time and energy to make something work, and I think they all hope that this will be her saving grace.”

‘A BIG HIT’

However, the PR expert was confident Meghan’s show would attract excellent viewing ratings, and has the potential to do very well.

“I think Netflix know that all eyes are going to be on this show, and we’ve seen this with the increase of followers on Meghan’s Instagram,” he explained.

“So if you can equate that to eyeballs and viewers, then it’s going to have a lot of viewers when it first launches.

“All of us are going to be watching it, whether we like her or not, because we want to see this. As a you know, it’s probably the biggest clickbait we’ll get since the previous Meghan Markle documentary, so I think all eyes will be on it.

“I think it’s going to be further down the line when we work out, whether people want to carry on watching that show, whether people are watching more than one episode, whether they’re fatigued by it, and that’s where Netflix will have to work out whether their products that they’re going to be selling are going to sell.”

He added: “The investment here from Netflix and from herself, I think will prove that it will be, hopefully a big hit.”

But despite the marketing on her Instagram, Meghan hasn’t appeared on any TV interviews promoting her new venture.

The expert said you would expect to see a celebrity in her position on an evening talk show in the States, or perhaps on the Graham Norton sofa.

He suggested her PR team have kept her away from the screen because she is “such a polarizing character”.

“I was expecting her to be on things like Jennifer Hudson Show, etc. Kelly Clarkson Show, which are really safe spaces for anybody wanted to go on them, it’d be a really good way of her promoting what she’s doing. But maybe we’ll see that in the future,” he said,

Mr Ede added: “Megan is extremely careful, especially by switching on her Instagram and us seeing what she’s doing now.

“All of it is extremely well thought out. None of it is spontaneous, as she wants you to think it is, but none of it is.

“It feels like we don’t really get too much of her personality, only the one that we she wants us to see.”

Meghan Markle accused of copying logo for new lifestyle brand, As Ever

It has been claimed the Duchess of Sussex may have “copyright issues” after she announced her latest venture, As Ever.

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted similarities between her logo and the Coat of Arms of Porreres in Majorca.

Reddit users were quick to post the two designs side-by-side, showing both contain a palm tree and two birds.

Nick Ede, a brand and culture expert, told The Sun: “Yes the logo that she has used for the new brand As Ever is clearly very similar to the coat of arms for an area of Majorca.

“This is another brand set back as it looks like its been copied rather than a whole new brand identity created.

“This may potentially create copyright issues and a further headache for Meghan and her team.”

Woman sexually assaulted by predator postman killed herself while on phone to Royal Mail

A WOMAN who was sexually assaulted by a predator postman killed herself while on the phone to Royal Mail.

Carly Wealleans was groped by Michael Stewart, 63, who kissed her and exposed himself three times.

Michael Stewart has been jailed for his sick crimes[/caption]

The ex-Olympic boxing hopeful called Royal Mail on March 11, 2022, in a “distressed” state and blamed her torment on the company’s failure to death with Stewart’s offending.

While on the phone with a manager, Carly sadly took her own life.

In a double tragedy, her brother Sam died last September while competing in the Great North Run in his sister’s memory.

Stewart has now been jailed for six-and-a-half years after he was convicted of sexual assault, harassment and exposure against five victims.

Judge Robert Spragg said Carly’s death was a “direct result” of Stewart’s “disgusting” actions.

He added: “Had you not behaved in this manner towards her, it is clear she would not have suffered the severe psychological harm she did leading to the loss of her life.”

The judge also blamed Carly’s state of mind on Royal Mail’s inadequate response to her complaint about Stewart.

In December 2021, she had made a statement to police saying she felt suicidal due to the assault and Royal Mail’s inadequate response to it.

Carly was referred to mental health services but struggled to eat and sleep.

In January 2022, she told police that she had taken an overdose.

Two months later, she made the phone call to Royal Mail where she took her own life.

Newcastle Crown Court heard “calculating and dangerous predator” Stewart used his position as a postman of 22 years to carry out his vile crimes.

Royal Mail had received several complaints about his behaviour but no proper steps were taken to against him and he continued to work.

The firm has since apologised and launched a “high-level” review into the case.

In a victim impact statement, Carly’s mum said the family’s lives had been had been “destroyed” by her death.

One of Stewart’s victims told how he went from a “nice guy who delivered the post” to someone she “had to hide from because I was scared”.

She said she complained to Royal Mail when he sexually assaulted her but, after initially being moved, he was soon put back on her round.

Another said Stewart walked into her home one day while delivering a package and grabbed her breasts.

The woman told him to “get off” but he was “not even bothered by what he’d done”.

She added: “He said that I wanted it. I didn’t. I didn’t encourage it.

“That’s the bit that upsets me.”

The woman said she complained to Royal Mail but they failed to inform police and just “swept it under a rock”.

Another victim, who has also since died, previously said Stewart ogled her chest like a “kid in a sweetshop”.

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “These crimes were abhorrent and had significant, and in cases tragic, consequences for the victims.

“Stewart abused his position of trust. This verdict reflects the seriousness of his offences. We would like to publicly apologise to the victims, their families and to others who were targeted.

“The protection of our colleagues and customers is our utmost priority. Following this case, we commissioned an independent review.

“In line with its recommendations, we implemented changes across the organisation, including a multi-year campaign on sexual harassment and culture in the workplace, new internal reporting tools and clearer codes of conduct and expected behaviours.”

‘Lack of respect’, cry fans as chart-topping star reschedules Scots show TWICE at the last-minute

FANS of an up-and-coming music star have been left fuming after shifting the date of her Glasgow gig – for a SECOND time.

Singer-songwriter Lola Young, 24, was due to perform at the The Garage on Monday night.

Young posted an update on social media about her rescheduled shows[/caption]

But the rising star has relocated her show to the city’s O2 Academy.

The gig will instead take place a month later on March 26, leaving scores of fans angry.

She previously rescheduled her planned Garage slot from December 6 last year.

Young posted on social media this afternoon: “Hey guys. My Manchester and Glasgow shows have moved to bigger venues, and more tickets are on sale now.”

The update didn’t go down well with her followers, with some claiming to have been left hundreds of pounds out of pocket.

One wrote: “I’m now gonna have to book a new hotel and new travel can’t swap dates on the hotel twice so that’s 250 quid I’m out of pocket. Was looking forward to the small Garage gig.

“Skint struggling musician myself. Boooo!”

Another commented: “Bought these tickets in July and you’ve cancelled twice, f**ked up my plans on both occasions now to add insult to injury it’s at the Academy, a big venue with no heart or soul. P**d off doesn’t cover how I’m feeling about this.”

A third fumed: “We’re on fourth change of date booking in Bristol. Constant changes.

“Same in Manchester. Furious is an understatement.”

A fourth complained: “I’ve lost two days’ pay, two hotel bookings, two train bookings, and now we’re back at square one over £500 down.

“I’m absolutely furious, if this is how we treat fans I’d rather not be a fan at all. Total lack of respect for everyone who’s booked.”

Young, from Croydon, London, shot to fame after covering the 1984 hit Together in Electric Dreams for the 2021 John Lewis Christmas advert.

Her song Messy, released last year, was her first tune to reach top spot in the UK singles chart.

Jim Delahunt’s tips on Celtic at Hibs, Rangers v St Mirren, all this weekend’s football fixtures plus his big £330 acca

AYR UNITED couldn’t hold on to a 2-0 lead at Falkirk last week but Scott Brown’s men can get all three points at home to Livingston today at 13/10.

Jay Henderson’s penalty and a second from George Oakley looked to have Ayr on course for a famous victory but Liam Henderson got the Bairns back to 2-1 at half time and Scott Arfield secured a point for the league leaders.

Wycombe Wanderers are also part of our betting expert’s five-team acca[/caption]

That was still an excellent point for the Somerset side as they bounced back from their Scottish Cup exit to Hibs and they can’t afford to drop the tempo with third placed Livingston heading down the M77.

Both games between the pair this have gone to the away side by a one goal margin this season but Ayr are playing even better than when they won at Livingston just before Christmas and Davie Martindale’s side disappointed last week at home to Dunfermline.

That 0-0 draw kept them in the three-way title race as the top two drew at the Falkirk stadium but Ayr look a constant goal threat in every game at the moment and the home win gets my vote despite plenty of money for the draw down to 2/1.

RAITH had a 3-0 win over Partick after their Scottish Cup trip to Celtic and Barry Robson’s new side have a great chance to rubber-stamp that performance with another home win over Hamilton at 8/13.

Third-bottom Accies lost 2-0 at Morton midweek after last week’s surprise win at giant-killing Queens Park and Robson now has the play-offs on the radar with two games in hand over currently managerless Partick who host resurgent bottom club Airdrie.

I tipped SPURS to beat Manchester United at 6/4 last weekend and I’m backing Ange Postecoglou‘s mood to improve even further with another three points away to Ipswich at 10/11.

Tottenham lost at home to the Tractor Boys back in November but they’ve now won back-to-back league games either side of those cup defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa and Ipswich have only won once and scored nine goals at Portman Road all season.

BLACKBURN have recorded back-to-back wins since David Lowe took interim charge and the Ewood Park caretaker can make it three on the spin against fellow stand-in Alan Sheehan at Swansea.

The Swans parted company with Luke Williams last week after another defeat away to Stoke, but Rovers have barely blinked since John Eustace left for Derby and 7/4 looks a fair price to get another three points.

Leeds, Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland are head and shoulders above the rest in the Championship but fifth placed Rovers top a group of nine clubs chasing a likely two play-off spots and Lowe appears to have the backing of his players.

Birmingham should be nine points clear at the top of League One before second placed WYCOMBE kick-off at home to Wigan but the Chairboys have to keep on winning their own games and look good for another three points.

New boss Mike Dodds had lost to Preston on penalties (FA Cup) and drawn at Crawley since taking over from the Luton-bound Matt Bloomfield but he bagged a 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday and now faces Shaun Maloney‘s Wigan.

The visitors haven’t won any of their last five games and this looks an excellent chance for Wycombe to keep at least five points clear of third top Wrexham by recording a second home win in five days at a general 8/11.

The top three in League Two are all away from home this weekend but fourth placed NOTTS COUNTY can beat poor travellers Tranmere at 4/7 and BROMLEY should see off Harrogate at 19/20.

Saturday SINGLE

Elgin’s home record reads 8-2-1 but EDINBURGH CITY are level with their hosts on points and Michael McIndoe’s side look the Borough Briggs value at 13/5.

Weekend ACCA

Three homes and two away this week with the five 3pm kick-offs paying out at 32/1.

Ayr 13/10

Raith 8/13

Spurs 10/11

Blackburn 7/4

Wycombe 8/11

HIBERNIAN V CELTIC   12.30pm  Sky Sports

I tipped Celtic to win to nil against Dundee United here last Saturday and the champions’ 3-0 success ensured a return of 10/11 with the home win priced up at best odds of 2/11.

Brendan Rogers’ players were superb in Munich’s Allianz Arena on Tuesday but it’s back to league business in Leith and David Gray’s Hibs are unbeaten in TWELVE games since losing at Celtic Park in early December.

The champions are 4/9 to move 16 points clear before Rangers kick-off against St Mirren but Hibs have only lost one goal in five games and the draw’s a sporting bet here at an average 7/2.

RANGERS V ST MIRREN

I tipped Saints to bank a point against Hibs at 11/5  last Saturday and that ultimately goalless draw ensured Stephen Robinson‘s 14/1 Paisley side travel to Ibrox today as a top six club.

Rangers are 2/11 after putting the Queen’s Park debacle behind them with a 3-1 win at in-form Hearts and Ibrox should be buzzing for the players’ return given this week’s news of a prospective takeover.

St Mirren beat Rangers on Boxing Day and the Buddies have scored the same amount of goals on the road (15) as they have at home so Rangers to win and BTTS is my idea of the bet here at a general 13/8.

ABERDEEN V KILMARNOCK

The Dons ended their 98 day wait for a league win with last week’s 2-1 success at Dundee and Jimmy Thelin’s players can surely be fancied to keep the feelgood factor going at home to Kilmarnock.

Goals from Kevin Nisbet and Top Keskinen were enough to see off last week’s hosts but Killie arrive in the Granite City chasing a third straight league win and sniffing a top six spot if St Mirren lose at Ibrox.

Both games between the two have gone to the home side this season and while toe Dons have been coupon busters supreme for many a punter since their superb start to the season, I’ll take them to win here at 23/20.

DUNDEE UNITED V MOTHERWELL

United could have the influential Craig Sibbald back on the field at some point in this game and Tannadice boss Jim Goodwin says he’s been searching back to see how new visiting boss Michael Wimmer likes to set his teams up.

Motherwell badly need a shake-up after last week’s fifth straight defeat at home to Ross County but the fourth placed Terrors could do with a win themselves and I’ll take them to get it at a general 4/6.

United have failed to even score at Kilmarnock or Celtic and haven’t won in four since success at St Mirren but this looks a great opportunity to get back to winning form as the new ‘Well boss settles in.

MK Dons to change badge as supporters make ‘unanimous decision’ following two-decade backlash to move from Wimbledon

MK DONS are set to change their crest – and fans were given the chance to vote for the club’s new badge.

The club were formed in 2004 after Wimbledon FC sensationally upped sticks to Milton Keynes in an unprecedented move.

Dons supporters have been given a choice of three new crests for the team[/caption]

The first season for the club was the 2004-05 League One campaign, in which they were relegated.

And over 20 years later, the Dons brass have allowed fans to choose the team’s new crest.

An excerpt of a club statement: “After 20 years of football in Milton Keynes, MK Dons are pleased to reveal three new crest designs for supporter consultation as we look to evolve our club identity ahead of the 25/26 season.

“Following initial consultation with the MK Dons Supporters’ Board, it became apparent there was a clear desire for an evolution of the club’s identity.

“From the crest on our kits to the branding around Stadium MK and branding across all digital platforms.

“After extensive work behind the scenes, we’re now delighted to be able to offer all season ticket holders (including Club Red, Club Gold, Club Platinum, and Club Black hospitality seasonal members) and business stakeholders the chance to have your say in helping to choose our new club crest.”

Supporters had up until midnight on February 20 to choose from three new crests.

Dons CEO Neil Hart said of the revamping of the badge: “When the new ownership group acquired the club last summer, one of the many things we wanted to learn more about was the club’s identity and branding.

“This started with informal conversations among staff before the possibility of a brand evolution was brought to the MK Dons Supporters’ Board last month.

“Their reaction was one of unanimous enthusiasm, as we look to celebrate the past 20 years of football in Milton Keynes while also paving the way for a new era at the football club.

“This feels like an important milestone in the club’s history and an opportunity for us all to review our brand identity.

“As we continue to be focused on improving every aspect of our football club we want our supporters to be at the heart of any important decision-making affecting the club.

First up we have the Dacia Sandero, which is on the market for just £14,200.

It became the second-best selling car in Europe last year, and the UK’s cheapest new motor.

It seats five and offers plenty of load space with a 328-litre boot.

While it may not be the smoothest drive, it still performs well – and can’t be beaten on value.

The car experts also recommended the Citroën C3 which is marked up at £17,990.

It is the fourth-generation C3 and powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 99bhp.

A hybrid version is also set to be released soon which will cost around £20,000.

Meanwhile the Dacia Spring is slightly cheaper at £14,995 and the first EV to come in at such a low price.

The entry-level car only has 44bhp motor and its 26.8kWh battery has a max range of just 137 miles on full charge.

However, for the incredible price-tag, car gurus have still ranked it in the Top 10 as a worthwhile runaround car.

Next up is the Leapmotor T03, another electric car with a slightly further range and higher horsepower.

It boasts 165miles fully charged, with 94bhp and 117lb ft of torque.

For £15,995 it offers an 8in digital display behind the steering wheel and a 10in infotainment touchscreen with sat-nav.

This SUV made the top 10 list for it’s high design, performance and cost ratings.

Motor experts at Autocar said the £15,700 model was “ergonomically sound”, offered a “spacious cabin” and “frugal engines”.

However, it did not score so high on safety features, steering and amenities.

An entry level spec will set buyers back £15,845 for a very basic four-seater version.

It has been stripped back of any extras such as Apple CarPlay, but does come with a decent seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.

For a little bit of extra cash, the Hyundai i10 does offer slightly more on their lowest level spec.

Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available but it is essentially very similar to the Kia Picanto.

Car experts hailed it as cheap to run and easy to maneuver, although it is a little tight on space.

The MG 3 will set buyers back £16,495, but boasts a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 113bhp.

The hatchback has been voted one of the best value for money on the market and described as “well worth considering” by Matt Saunders at AutoCar.

It also comes as a hybrid which offers a three-speed automatic gearbox, a 134bhp electric motor and a small battery.

Motor whizzes described this car as a “grown up” version of the Aygo city car, as it now presents as more of a mini SUV.

It only costs £16,515 and there’s decent cargo space with 231litres available.

Although, while it scores positively on comfort and the way it drives, it isn’t the fastest.

“The 71bhp 1.0-litre three-pot is severely lacking in torque and feels treacle-like up until 6500rpm,” said the experts at AutoCar.

Renault Clio

Finally, the Renault Clio which is the most expensive on the list at £18,595.

“The Clio’s cabin design and perceived quality are all much higher than you might imagine if you haven’t sat in one for a few years, while its steering is intuitive and its chassis gives a sense of cornering balance. In other words, it’s good fun,” wrote AutoCar gurus.

Jack Warrick, Staff Writer, added: “The Clio is a conversation for supermini class leadership in which it hasn’t been involved for some time.”

This comes as the four best electric motors have been revealed including a spacious £22k supermini and family-friendly SUV with 372 miles of range.
