EastEnders fans convinced ‘wild card’ suspect attacked Cindy Beale ahead of big 40th anniversary reveal

EASTENDERS fans are certain a ‘wild card’ suspect attacked Cindy Beale ahead of the huge 40th anniversary reveal.

An unidentified assailant left Cindy (Michelle Collins) for dead at Christmas – after hitting her over the head with a shovel.

With various theories flying around, fans reckon a ‘wild card’ will be unmasked as the mystery villain.

One viewer wrote on X: “Whoever is holding the locket will not be revealed until the live episode, mark my words!

“Wild card predictions though, Cindy Jr or Jane.”

Another added: “It could be lots of people but I’m going Cindy Jr, Jane, Bobby or Kathy.”

While a third penned: “It’s either Bobby, Jane or Cindy Jr.”

Cindy’s daughter Cindy Williams (Mimi Keene) last appeared in Walford a decade ago.

However, fans have predicted she could return after being mentioned on-screen.

Elsewhere, Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) is half-brother to Cindy’s daughter Lucy – and her killer.

Cindy was not fond of Bobby although he ultimately left the Square last year.

Viewers know he previously dated Cindy’s daughter Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) – until she cheated on him.

Key to Bobby’s departure was his adoptive mum Jane (Laurie Brett), who returned briefly last year.

She and Cindy finally came face-to-face and soon established a frosty relationship.

Could any of these familiar faces be responsible for the attack?

In Monday’s episode, viewers saw Cindy finally come face-to-face with her attacker.

Having armed herself with Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) gun, she went to No.45 – firmly believing Ian is the culprit.

Cindy then found someone holding her missing locket – which had been stolen in the attack.

Fans weren’t shown this person’s face, meaning the mystery continued on.

Who attacked Cindy Beale: The suspects

Cindy Beale was dramatically attacked at the end of the highly-anticipated Christmas Day special.

But there is question on the lips of every fan, who exactly was behind it?

Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe): She blackmailed Cindy to get out of Walford before kicking her husband George out following his surprise reaction to the public revelation about the affair. Cindy also called her ‘withered’ in her long rant.

George Knight (Colin Salmon): He claimed he was not interested in reigniting things with his ex-wife. But he was left enraged by his son’s behaviour, leaving his relationship with Elaine in ruins.

Junior Knight (Micah Balfour): He was caught suspiciously lurking in the shadows by Denise in the aftermath of the attack. He was hurt by Cindy because she claimed their affair only happened because he reminded her of his father George.

Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt): After finding out about the affair, hew kicked Cindy out in anger. He then trashed his living room, he stormed out the house and appeared to be unreachable at the time of the attack and in the aftermath.

Kojo Asare (Oludayo Koleosho): After finding out about Cindy’s affair, she put him into a coma when she pushed him off a raised platform. Could he want revenge?

Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth): She was the one to find Cindy on the pavement in the Square gardens after she was attacked with the snow shovel. Kathy always remained suspicious of Cindy because of her past and was devastated at the destruction of her family.

Anna Knight (Molly Rainford): Was seen looking out of the upstairs window with a birds eye view of the square at the time Cindy went to get her cab.

Gina Knight (Francesca Henry): Recovering addict Gina snuck out of the Vic with her coat to go on a ‘walk’, just before the attack took place.

Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa): Cindy got Lauren addicted to smack and revealed her addiction to her family, leaving Peter devastated and her family destroyed. Just before Cindy was attacked, Lauren was contemplating taking more pills in the car lot.

Peter Beale (Thomas Law): Cindy destroyed the family unit they all shared by her actions. She then called him ‘stupid’ in her extensive monologue in the Vic which left his drowning his tears.

Official suspects include Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), George Knight (Colin Salmon) and Junior Knight (Micah Balfour).

Also in the frame are Cindy’s children – Anna, Peter Beale (Thomas Law) and Gina Knight (Francesca Henry).

Rounding out the list are Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Elaine Knight (Harriet Peacock).

EastEnders continues on BBC One and iPlayer.

During his time on the show, he had fans in stitches with his hilarious antics including wetting himself in the Clansman.

And his co-stars have rushed online to share their fond memories of the much-loved star.

Still Game creator and co-star Greg Hemphill, who played larger-than-life pensioner Victor McDade, hailed his “amazing” pal.

The 55-year-old said: “Very sad to hear that the wonderful Jimmy Martin has passed away.

“He really was an amazing fella and a joy to be around.

“Full of great stories about cutting about Byres Road in the 60’s, about his time in the Navy, and of course, the only genuine auld yin amongst us. We will miss you, Jimmy.”

Still Game director Michael Hines broke the news and wrote: “Just to let all the fans out there know that Jimmy Martin ‘Eric’ passed away today.

“He was a wonderful actor and I was honoured to call him a pal.”

And Jane McCarry, 54, who played Craiglang gossip Isa Drennan in Still Game, was among the first to lead the tributes.

She said: “Jimmy was a fantastic character, full of stories and fun.

“I’m so glad he received the British Empire Medal last year.

“That meant so much to him. He will be dearly missed but what a life he has had. Farewell auld pal.”

Jimmy enjoyed an acting career spanning 40 years, appearing in the likes of Taggart and Take the High Road.

But he made his name as a part of the Craiglang gang.

Fans of the show flocked to pay tribute to remember the “absolute legend”.

One wrote: “Met him on a couple of occasions, absolute gentleman!”

Another said: “An integral part of an amazing show.”

Comedy icon Jimmy served time in the Royal Navy and was recognised for his dedication to the country last year.

The grandad of two signed up to serve his country with pride at age 17.

Jimmy received the British Empire Medal in November, which is awarded for “meritorious civil or military service worthy of recognition by the Crown.”

His daughter Jennifer joked at the time: “We are wondering if they maybe have a translator at Buckingham Palace because I can’t image Camilla and Charles are very fluent in Craiglang.

“But dad is totally delighted and so are we. It’s absolutely great for him to be recognised like this.”

A representative for celeb management group Red Shoe Entertainment said: “We are deeply saddened to share the news that Jimmy Martin, the beloved actor known for playing Eric in Still Game, has passed away.

“His warmth, humour, and unforgettable performances brought joy to so many, and his legacy will live on through the laughter he shared with the world.

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who loved him. Rest in peace, Jimmy.”

Iconic Xbox game worth up to £650 if you still have it – and you don’t even need the box to cash in

Xbox console and controller with a price tag of £647.89.

A CLASSIC Xbox game with a very familiar title could be worth nearly £650 if you still have it.

In fact, even the loose disc without its box might fetch over £100.

The Futurama game landed on Xbox in 2003 and received middling reviews – but is now a prized collectible[/caption]

If you owned an original Xbox, dive into those cupboards or head up into the loft immediately.

The smash-hit console was home to some iconic titles like Halo and Fable – but there’s a TV-inspired game that is now worth serious cash.

Futurama came out on the Xbox in August 2003, inspired by the iconic TV show of the same name.

And video game collectibles tracker PriceCharting says that a sealed copy of the game is now worth as much as £648.

Better still, a professionally graded copy of Futurama for the original Xbox could go for as much as £936.

PriceCharting keeps track of online sales of old games and consoles, creating a rolling list of their values.

As these classic games become harder to find, their prices can increase steeply.

And that’s the case for Futurama, which is generally considered to be one of the Xbox’s rarer titles.

That means that even a loose Futurama disc can still fetch decent money, with the website listing its value as £132.

If you have a complete packed that’s been opened, you could get £179.

The box on its own is said to be worth £52, while the manual is listed with a value of £71.

What you need to keep in mind is that these are simply estimates based on previous sales of the games.

So there’s no guarantee that your own copy can be traded for these amounts.

However, you could be in luck and find that your Futurama game goes for even more money than the prices listed here. You just have to sell to the right collector at the right time.

LOOK TO THE FUTURE

If you do have a copy, it might be worth hanging onto it – as the price could rise even higher in the future.

Futurama is a 3D platformer inspired by the hit sci-fi cartoon created by The Simpsons mastermind Matt Groening.

It was released for both Xbox and PlayStation 2, and is now a prized collectible.

For a start, the game contains cutscenes that are considered to be a “lost episode” of Futurama.

Sadly, the game received middling reviews and didn’t sell particularly well.

That meant that the supply of the game ended up being limited.

The TV show was also cancelled on August 10, just nine days after the game’s release in the UK.

These reasons combined explain why some collectors are willing to hand over hundreds of pounds for a decent copy of the game.

Government accused of breaking pre-election promise to kids needing spinal surgeries as 37 still waiting over 6 months

THE Government has been accused of breaking a pre-election promise to children in need of spinal surgeries as 37 kids remain waiting over 6 months for operations.

In the weeks before the general election, former Health Minister Stephen Donnelly briefed the Cabinet on the latest waiting list figures for children in need of surgeries for conditions such as scoliosis and spina bifida.

A series of measures had been taken to reduce the waiting list, including adding capacity to our children’s hospitals, using adult hospitals, and flying children to London and New York for their operations.

Donnelly – who was not re-elected – claimed that the number of children waiting longer than four months for their surgeries would fall from 72 to below 20 by the end of 2024.

However, the latest figures from Children’s Health Ireland show that there are still 37 kids waiting over six months for spinal surgeries.

Three children have been on the waiting list for surgery for over two years.

The latest figures from the end of January show that there are 230 children currently waiting for spinal surgeries.

The total number of children waiting for surgery has fallen marginally every month for the past six months since July last year when 287 kids were waiting for operations.

Sinn Fein health spokesman David Cullinane has accused the Government of breaking yet another promise to children in need of spinal surgeries.

In 2017, then-Health Minister Simon Harris vowed that no child would wait longer than four months for these surgeries – a promise that was broken.

Deputy Cullinane said: “When the government was under pressure in the lead into the general election, promises were made that no more than 20 children would still be waiting longer than four months by the end of 2024.

“This did not happen, and it is another target missed.

“Parents and advocates were sceptical of the last Minister’s half-baked plans and promises, and sadly they have once again been proven right.

“Children’s Health Ireland has been the subject of intense scrutiny over the last few years, with several reviews and investigations by HIQA and the HSE still ongoing.

“These reviews have dragged on for far longer than initially stated, and the regular updates which were promised never materialised.

“There are still no answers to any of the questions which are being asked of CHI’s governance and safety arrangements, and they continue to miss their targets for spinal surgery waiting lists.”

Our Kids Can't Wait Campaign

WAITING lists in Ireland have long been a national disgrace.

More than 106,000 children are on hospital waiting lists for all treatments. However, a new source of shame has emerged as 327 children wait for life changing spinal surgeries.

Their conditions are getting worse while they languish on waiting lists.

Such are the delays, many child patients will be outside the therapeutic window when their treatments are approved.

Earlier this month, the Seanad heard how at least one child has become permanently paralysed since the issue was raised publicly before Christmas.

Their plight has been spearheaded by campaigning Senator Tom Clonan, who himself has a child with a disability.

Former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has even admitted that the health service is failing these kids.

Children are being allowed to deteriorate due to mismanagement, which has allowed the waiting lists to grow.

The Irish Sun’s Kids Can’t Wait campaign aims to shine a light on how the State is failing sick children and give their families a voice.

It will also force the Government to do something to clear the backlog of operations and give these children a chance of living a normal life.
