Seamus Coleman handed unexpected new role at Everton HOURS before FA Cup clash after Sean Dyche sacked as manager
SEAMUS COLEMAN has been put in interim charge at Everton following Sean Dyche’s departure as manager.
Dyche was relieved of his duties on Thursday afternoon, just hours before the Blues face Peterborough in the FA Cup.
Sean Dyche was sacked as Everton boss on Thursday[/caption]The former Burnley boss replaced Frank Lampard as boss in January 2023 and guided them to safety.
However, a difficult 2024/25 campaign has left the Merseyside men in 16th place, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
In a statement, the Premier League club confirmed that the Republic of Ireland captain had been installed as interim head coach.
He will serve in the role alongside former teammate Leighton Baines as Everton look for a replacement.
A club statement read: “Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect.
“Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.
“The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course.
“Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.”
Already, several names have been linked to the job as Sean Dyche‘s replacement, including Jose Mourinho and David Moyes.
The latter was Everton manager for 11 years, a run which ended when he succeeded Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager in 2013.
The Scot brought Coleman to the club in 2009, famously signing the right-back from Sligo Rovers for just £60,000.
He has been out of work since leaving West Ham at the end of last season despite helping them win the Europa Conference League the year before.
Another shock name linked as Dyche’s successor is Jose Mourinho, with the ex-Man Utd and Chelsea gaffer rumoured to make a sensational return to England.
The Special One is rated odds-on to move to Merseyside with new owners The Friedkin Group having previously brought him in as manager of Roma.
The appointment of Mourinho could be seen as a spectacular coup – despite TFG billionaire owner Dan Friedin, also owner of Roma, sacking him a year ago.
The Portuguese was also twice axed by Chelsea as well as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Inter Milan but he described his dismissal by Friedkin as the “one that most hurt”.
He took over Fenerbache last summer but is at war with Turkish authorities over the way Turkey’s Super Lig is being run.
Despite being so upset by the way Friedkin got rid of him the 61-year-old would love a chance for another tilt at the Premier League.
Kim Jong-un unveils North Korea’s LARGEST warship ever with Russian-style destroyer to carry cruise missile system
TYRANT Kim Jong-un has unveiled North Korea’s largest naval destroyer that could house a vertical launchpad capable of firing guided cruise missiles.
The mighty vessel – said to be similar to Russia’s famed Admiral Grigorovich frigate – is expected to substantially boost North Korea’s naval capabilities.
Pictures released by the North Korean state media show the vessel under construction[/caption] A closeup picture of the bow shows an empty space that is expected to house various vertical launch missile systems[/caption] Kim Jong-un was seen at the shipbuilding facility inspecting the construction of the vessel[/caption]Pictures released by the state media – known to be Kim’s propaganda machine – show the mighty destroyer being built at a naval facility.
Analysts say, based on the images of the unfinished vessel, that the destroyer could be as large as 330ft from bow to stern and have a beam approximately 50ft wide.
At over 3,600 tonnes, the destroyer is set to become the largest warship in North Korea’s naval arsenal, surpassing the current largest vessel, a 1,360-tonne frigate.
A closeup picture of the bow shows an empty space that is expected to house various vertical launch missile systems.
These launchers will be capable of firing guided cruise missiles, alongside a mounted naval gun that is expected to be placed at the front.
Military experts believe the warship is currently being built at the Nampho Dockyard, located on the west coast of the country.
Kim Jong-un was seen at the shipbuilding facility inspecting the construction of the vessel.
It could take 10 years for the North Korean military to finish building the warship, according to analysts.
Joseph Dempsey, an analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, told Seoul-based NK News: “[The naval warship is] “likely a destroyer and the largest warship ever constructed in the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea].
“Weapons-wise, the large aperture immediately forward of the bridge would imply [plans to install a] possible vertical launching system [for missiles].”
Analysts noted that the new North Korean ship looked similar to the Russian Admiral Grigorovich-class, one of the most capable warships in Putin’s arsenal.
Hong Min, a senior researcher at the Korea Institute for National Unification, told South Korean media: “It could be an attempt by North Korea to significantly strengthen its conventional power, including its inferior naval power as well as nuclear and missile capabilities, through cooperation with Russia.”
Kim is said to have toured a Russian naval base and ships during a trip to the Russian far-east port of Vladivostok in September 2023.
Putin and Kim have been cosying up on the world stage – and insiders believe if their ties deepen, Pyongyang could be prepared to aid Vlad more.
Kim has already sent his Storm Corps, the country’s equivalent of special forces, to fight for Vlad.
The 11,000-strong are fighting Ukrainian soldiers as the Russian tyrant aims to retake Kursk, seized by Ukraine in August.
It is feared both the despotic rulers may strengthen their cooperation even more and gain military advantages in the coming days.
Meanwhile, dictator Kim also unveiled his latest war tank which he says is the “world’s most powerful”.
The North Korean leader allegedly drove the armoured vehicle as he joined his troops during drills designed as a show of strength in the face of US/South Korean military exercises.

CONOR McGregor refuses to back down in his battle to build a mega-mansion which is FIVE times the size of the building it will replace – despite local council complaints.
The MMA star hit back at Kildare County Council’s objections to his request to construct a six-bedroom luxury home with an outdoor pool in the rural area of Straffan, County Kildare.
Conor McGregor is in a battle with the council[/caption] The MMA fighter’s mega mansion has faced objections[/caption]McGregor’s mega-compound will be five times the size of the house which will be demolished.
It’ll cover a vast 3073 square metres compared to the existing 605 square metres.
The UFC star wants to construct two giant basements – one directly under the property with an indoor swimming pool, cinema, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and treatment room – plus one independent of the house with a games room, bar and car park.
Currently, the original property is partly demolished and has been a pile of rubble for the past two years.
Kildare County Council complained about the size and there were no clear plans on how he’d get rid of the home’s sewage.
In July, the council wrote to his team, Tyler Owens Architects, asking them to respond to a number of issues within six months.
With just six days to spare, they replied with new plans and reports.
While McGregor’s team conducted more field tests to address the wastewater issues – he’s refused to back down on the mammoth scale of the mansion.
The council had asked for mitigating reasons for such a huge development stating that the “design and scale of the proposed replacement dwellings by virtue of its proposed length, massing and scale in relation to surrounding rural development is inconsistent”.
In the new Design Statement, McGregor’s team haven’t reduced the project’s scale, stating that the development “reflects a meticulous response to the [council] requirements” and is “prioritising harmony with the rural landscape”.
McGregor was initially granted planning permission by Kildare County Council to partly demolish and extend the original home in 2021.
The demolition started, but then McGregor changed his mind and applied for permission for the whole of the present house to be torn down to meet his “growing family needs and wishes”.
Conor McGregor’s representatives and the council have been contacted for comment.

THE Traitors viewers have blasted Joe and branded him “toxic” after he prayed on the downfall of his co-star Kasim in ugly scenes.
Kas was banished last night in brutal scenes as many of his fellow players on the BBC series failed to believe him about his Faithful status.
Fans have hit out at ‘toxic’ Joe for isolating Kasim and banishing him from the castle[/caption] The popular star was booted off the game by his fellow players[/caption] Dan was shouted down by Kas[/caption]In one heart-wrenching scene, his co-stars even refused to include him in discussions, which forced him to leave the room and eat his dinner alone as they continued to isolate him from the group.
It led Kas to admit that it wasn’t the first time he had been “left out” in life as he reflected on his Traitors experience solemnly.
Joe, who many fans have credited as being largely responsible for his demise, appeared to encourage his co-stars to pick on Kas and vote him out of the Scottish castle.
He was left looking more than embarrassed when it was revealed he had been barking up the wrong tree the whole time after Kas confessed his faithful status.
In the end, Joe’s fellow players also began to turn on him for getting it so wrong – including a fiery confrontation with Dan.
Dan slammed how the group had gone off “assumptions” heavily influenced by Joe which led to Joe to quip back in nasty scenes.
Joe barked Dan down and shouted at him for taking it “personally” as the rest of the group begged for the tensions to simmer so they could process the exit.
Now, the BBC viewers have had their say and have slammed Joe for his “toxic” ways and belittlement of his fellow player.
Writing online, one said: “He has so much anger and hate for everyone especially Kas.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen him smiling on the show or actually being friendly and nice.
“Seems like he only speaks when he wants to trash talk someone.”
Another added of the player: “He is just toxic player.
“It was really ugly to watch.”
A third fumed: “The fact that Joe is a teacher makes it so much worse.”
Before a fourth theorised: “Honestly will be shocked if the group don’t turn on Joe for how he reacted to Kas exit.
“Straight away he was back s***e talking Kas instead of admitting he got it wrong.”
Taking the high road, Kas opted not to slam any of his fellow players upon his exit.
Speaking after he was banished, he said to his co-stars: “It’s been fantastic and you are all fantastic people.”
How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?
The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.
Claudia Winkleman is the show’s host, and has now hosted all three series to date.
How does it work?
It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.
The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in “the ultimate game of truth and deception”.
The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.
While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).
Each night, the Traitors gather to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition
Meanwhile, the traitors can be “banished” if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.
The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.
The prize sees the winner could get £120K.

Love Island All Stars boss reveals why it’s impossible for stars to FAKE relationships in the villa
A LOVE Island boss has revealed why it’s impossible for the Islanders to fake relationships in the villa.
The new series of Love Island All Stars kicks off on Monday, with some iconic show stars returning for a second chance at finding romance.
Couples formed in the villa have often faced speculation that some relationships aren’t genuine and are a way for the Islanders to make it to the final.
But executive producer Mike Spencer has insisted that it would be very hard for stars to play a game like that.
He said: “I think it’s very rare to see a fake Love Island couple, only because we’ve got 72 plus cameras and every day you’ve got a whole team of people watching their every move.
“When they go into the outside world things can get tough and challenges get put in front of them – it can fall away quite quickly. But I don’t think tons of people fake it.”
Mike pointed out that it’s been proven many times that the show can produce long-lasting relationships, with former stars going on to get married and have children.
Series two winners Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde tied the knot in 2019 and are parents to Freddie George and Delilah.
Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt – who starred in the 2017 series – went on to get married and have daughters Nell and Nora and son Brodie.
Mike continued: “It works. It is a dating show, tried and tested, and we’ve had marriages, kids, serious couples and engagements.”
Show host Maya Jama also hit back at claims Islanders project a fake image of relationship bliss on social media, saying nobody would be able to keep that up.
She said: “I don’t think anyone’s got time for that. Even if they were [faking it], I think it would run out. It wouldn’t be able to last for years.”
This year’s All Stars line-up includes the likes of Gabby Allen, Ronnie Vint, Elma Pazar and Luca Bish.
Fans are also set to witness a potentially awkward reunion between Gabby and her ex Marcel Someville, after they previously split when she accused him of cheating.
