Shamed Conor McGregor refuses to scale back colossal gaff overhaul with indoor & outdoor pools as council decision looms

SHAMED MMA fighter Conor McGregor says his colossal new family home will not be an eyesore.

The convicted rapist wants to knock down his five-bed Co Kildare pad and replace it with a six-bedroom, two storey house.

It will have a 19.6m indoor swimming pool, a 21m outdoor pool and a cinema.

The proposed 32,692 sq ft gaff at The Paddocks, Castledillon, Straffan will have a fully sunken basement to include car parking, a bar, games area, and ancillary rooms.

McGregor paid out €3m for The Paddocks in 2019 and planning documentation shows that McGregor’s staff are to be housed in a nearby home at No 5 Castledillon “which is now also in the full ownership of the applicant”.

Records with the Residential Property Price Register show that No 5 Castledillon was purchased for €1.65m in June 2022, increasing his landholding from 5.8 acres to 10 acres.

In response to the proposal for the new home, council planners wrote to the brute last July telling him that the design and scale of the proposed home did not comply with the Kildare County Development Plan.

Now, in response to the council’s further information request, a submission on behalf of McGregor doesn’t include any proposals to reduce the scale of the home but says the subject site “has the capacity to comfortably absorb the proposed dwelling without resulting in any undue impacts or disamenity to surrounding residents”.

The submission also states that the planned home “is largely screened from the view from the adjacent public road and neighbouring properties, any intermittent views are further obscured to the presence of existing and proposed supplementary planting”.

McGregor previously secured planning permission to partly demolish and extend and renovate The Paddocks.

The design statement says that by prioritising harmony with the rural landscape, the new house design adheres to guidelines on scale, massing and sustainability, ensuring integration into the surrounding environment.

It adds that it balances modern architectural innovation with respect for local elements, offering a dwelling that complements its setting while addressing future need.

The council is due to make a decision on the planning application later this month.

‘Was there ever a doubt?’ jokes Shane Lowry after reaching hilarious TGL landmark as fans insist ‘had the house on you’

SHANE LOWRY made a unique piece of history on the opening night of the TGL – much to the chagrin of censors.

The new Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods backed indoor golf league kicked off in the early hours of Wednesday.

Billy Horschel poked fun at him for being the first to curse

Lowry was one of the feature players, and teamed up with Wyndham Clark and Ludvig Aberg against Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Xander Schauffele.

The Irishman was all-in at the purpose-built Sofi Arena, with Sky Sports capturing the action.

His enthusiasm led to a hilarious moment when he dropped an f-bomb, with fellow golfer Billy Horschel poking fun on social media.

He said: “For all the people in a pool of who would be first to cuss in TGL, @ShaneLowryGolf is your winner.

“Just said, ‘that’s so f***ing good after a Ludvig drive.”

Lowry was tongue-in-cheek with his response, joking: “Was there ever a doubt Billy?”

Fans on social media played up the idea of having put money on Lowry being the one to first drop a cuss.

One posted: “100% told the text group that a hot mic will catch one Shane f bomb

“Well done last night brother. The Players countdown is on”

Paul quipped: “I think there was a ‘I don’t know What The F*** I’m doing’ and they basically muted the whole audio lol”

Another said: “Better F***ing believe it Shane, had the house on you tbf !!”

Lowry and his Bay GC clinched victory on the tenth hole of the 15-hole match, which lasted just over two hours.

The Offaly man admitted: “It’s quite an intimidating place to play golf because it’s somewhere we’re not used to.”

Lowry reflected on it as a playing experience afterwards.

He noted: “It all happens quite quickly when you’re out there because it’s loud and you’re not kind of used to that.

“But yeah, I enjoyed it. I had an amazing two hours this evening. It’s a lot of fun out there and something we’re not used to. But it was good.”

“I’m about to set off into my 17th year as a pro or 17th season.

“And I think some weeks can be like monotonous and tough when it gets to that, but this is just something different and something fun,”

“I love the big weeks and I love playing in front of big crowds, and I really struggle to get up for certain events when the crowd is not so big and the energy is not there.

“But the energy is going to be here every night we play, and I’m really looking forward to that.”
