WITH budgets stretched after Christmas, now is the perfect time to cash in by selling gear you no longer want.

But you may also be able to flog things that you would normally chuck.

There is a healthy market for selling on empty candle jars[/caption]

Here are some of the surprising items that can become a nice littler earner.

EMPTY CANDLE JARS: When your favourite candle has come to an end, you probably pop the jar in recycling.

However, there is a healthy market for selling on empty candle jars — especially if they are from posh brands.

For example, an empty Diptyque jar recently sold for £8 on eBay. Next time your candle is finished, clean it out and try listing it.

BRANDED GIFT BAGS: Hang on to the packaging if you buy an item from an upmarket store, as you may find that you can sell gift boxes and bags for cash. A Jo Malone small gift bag sold for £4 on eBay this month.

TESTERS: If you got a couple of freebies when buying some nice toiletries, there may be demand from online buyers. A 2ml Aesop eau de parfum recently went for £7.95 on eBay while a Chanel No.5 body lotion sachet was bought for £4.

USED PERFUME: If you have changed your mind about a perfume and the bottle is half-full, you can sell it on. A less than half-empty container of Gucci Flora has sold for £16 this year.

Or if you’ve used up all your favourite scent, you may be able to make some money from the bottle by listing it online.

You can expect to fetch £5 for the likes of an empty Jean Paul Gaultier bottle or £9 for an Alien Goddess bottle.

CHOC TINS: If you scoffed Roses or Quality Street over Christmas from tins, you could sell the empries and make a sweet profit — especially if they are limited edition.

An empty Cath Kidston Roses tin from 2021 recently sold for £17.50 while two other limited-edition tins fetched £8.50.

Lowe was left laughing her socks off as the ex-WWE Champion caught Neville with his fly open and initiallty struggled to apply the maoevre as the pundit appeared to be a little heavier than expected.

But the Clover Leaf was ultimately applied and the former defender was left in agony.

Sheamus added insult to injury when he ordered Neville to say “Liverpool are going to win the league” and that Arne Slot’s side are “No1”.

Neville, though, showed some grit as he refused to submit and instead took a swipe at United‘s rivals twice.

The heavyweight grappler ultimately let the analyst go with Lowe left in stitches.

Sheamus is now gearing up for the Royal Rumble, which is an event that has seen him enjoy tremendous success as he won the esteemed 30-man over-the-top-rope battle royal in 2012.

The Rumble takes place on February 1 at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

PLASTIC willies and male strippers at hen dos are being ditched in favour of escape rooms and axe throwing.

Stags are also shunning booze and strip clubs, research reveals.

Party organisers Last Night of Freedom (LNOF), which arranges thousands of bashes a year, said not one male stripper was booked for any of its bridal events in 2024.

Group shows featuring hunky “Butlers in the buff” were also down nearly 70 per cent.

Yet bookings for immersive experiences such as escape rooms karaoke booths, cocktail making and mini-golf rocketed by 270 per cent.

LNOF’s Matt Mavir said: “Trends are changing. Hens and stags aren’t booking risqué activities as much.

“This could be in part due to platforms like OnlyFans where you can essentially connect with a person without leaving your house for £10.

“Perhaps the thought of an in-real life experience is too overwhelming.”

Married dad-of-two Matt has organised more than 50,000 stag and hen dos over 25 years.

He added: “People aren’t boozing as heavily and we’re down more than 50 per cent on purely alcohol related activities.”

Matt said stag parties have not completely ditched strip clubs — with grooms three times more likely to indulge in an adult show abroad than in the UK.
