The 32-year-old, known to fans as “The Hurricane”, described hearing a “pop” whilst pressing a 172kg weight – and immediately rushed to hospital.

Kane was told that his adductor tendon in his leg had severed, and he would need surgery within three weeks to have any chance at a full recovery.

“I went to the gym on 30 December – there weren’t any warning signs, or any telltale signs that something was wrong,” said Kane.

“I was training the log press, and I lifted 172kg – and as I pressed it over my head, I extended my leg and hips forward and felt this huge pop in my leg.

“I instantly knew that something bad had happened, because there was no pain. That made me instantly think it was a tendon, so I went to the hospital.”

The professional athlete was taken to hospital with his career in the balance.

Kane was told it would be several weeks before he would be able to receive an MRI to begin the treatment plan on the NHS, and felt that his only option was to seek private treatment as soon as possible.

Former Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reveals dream career after football and is already taking private lessons

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG is already preparing for life post-football – and dreaming of the silver screen.

The former Arsenal striker has scored goals for fun since joining Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah.

Aubameyang linked up with the Saudi title challengers over the summer after leaving Marseille.

The 35-year-old has refound his scoring touch, netting 7 times in just 12 games.

Aubameyang knows his football career is moving towards its final stages.

But the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker has revealed he is already in training for a new profession.

The Gabon international has taken acting lessons as he looks to become a film star post-retirement.

When asked his favourite acting genre, Aubameyang told The Athletic: “Comedy, for sure!

“If you see me in a film that’s too serious then nah, you will not believe it.

“If it’s comedy, yes, you’re going to believe it.”

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

Aubameyang is “taking private lessons to master the art” of achieving his “dream” job.

But the ex-Prem ace also revealed he would be open to staying in football.

He prefers the idea of club ownership or becoming a sporting director over coaching.

A spell in Ligue 1 with Marseille helped Aubameyang fall back in love with football after a miserable spell with Chelsea.

He told the outlet: “I never had that connection [with the Chelsea fans].

“No connections at all. The fans wanted the Auba they saw with Arsenal.

“It was a chaotic year but it was good for me because I needed a break and, at the same time, they didn’t want to play me.”

The striker’s family are also piecing their life back together after a terrifying home robbery during his time at Barcelona.

Auba and his family were burgled at gunpoint in August 2022, leaving kids Curtys and Pierre terrified to sleep in their own beds.

He continued: “After that, the kids told me, ‘Papa, I don’t want to go to school, I’m scared something is going to happen there’.

“For a year my little one said, ‘I cannot sleep alone’. It was a big struggle. You have it always in the mind.”

The Traitors hunk Freddie breaks down in tears after being targeted by co-stars in most brutal episode yet

THE Traitors’ Freddie was left sobbing into a tissue after he was targeted by his co-stars in a very brutal Round Table.

The Faithful, 20, had to be comforted by his fellow contestants as he broke down in tears following the tense exchange.

Freddie said his fellow contestants voting for him was like ‘a dagger to the heart’[/caption]

The politics student had found a number of fingers pointing at him for being a Traitor – and one, he said, was “a dagger to the heart”.

Four of Freddie’s opponents wrongly voted for him at the Round Table after accusing him of ‘murdering’ full-time mum Maia, 25.

And although he escaped being sent home, with Faithful Kas being give the boot, Freddie was left devastated.

He said: “I feel like I’m getting set up here, but of course I’m going to say that.

“You guys can just believe what you want. I’m not going to beg for anyone.

As he left the Round Table room, Freddie burst into tears and had to be comforted by Linda, 70.

The retired opera singer put her arm around him and exclaimed: “Oh, babe!”

Frankie blubbed: “Now everyone’s just making this… [inaudible]…up.”

Linda led him to the bar and told him: “Bless you. Have a drink. Come on.”

Although he is an innocent Faithful, Freddie received votes from Livi, Kasim (Kas), Frankie (Francesca) and Leanne during Wednesday night’s episode of the BBC show.

Frankie, 44, was quick to comfort Freddie when she saw him crying as he entered the bar, despite her accusation minutes earlier that he was a Traitor.

Speaking off camera, Freddie said: “Seeing Frankie vote for me… that one felt like a knife through the heart.

“Frankie’s like a mum to me in here, so it was really upsetting.”

He added: “It’s just horrible when you feel like everyone’s talking about you and everyone’s attacking you.

“It’s a bit upsetting but, I mean, it is what it is.”

How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?

The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.

Claudia Winkleman is the show’s host, and has now hosted all three series to date.

How does it work?

It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.

The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in “the ultimate game of truth and deception”.

The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.

While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).

Each night, the Traitors gather to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition

Meanwhile, the traitors can be “banished” if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.

The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.

The prize sees the winner could get £120K.

Interior designer Frankie was seen vigorously rubbing Freddie’s back as he cried in her arms in the bar.

However, she then told him: “It’s just a game.”

Meanwhile, Wednesday night’s instalment of The Traitors featured a shock twist.

Three former contestants made a dramatic comeback after initially being booted off within the opening moments of the series.

Fozia, Jack and Alexander had been sent packing after seemingly sacrificing themselves, but they reappeared in giant wooden crates suspended in the sky on Wednesday.

The current contestants had the chance to win two back with a coin-based game – and Fozia and Alexander were saved.

Jack was, once again, eliminated from The Traitors thanks to the savage twist.

The Traitors continues 9pm, BBC One, Tonight (January 9, 2025).

Huge boost for Eurostar as Prime Minister backs return to regional UK train station five years after it was scrapped

THE return of Eurostar to a UK train station has been backed by the Prime Minister.

The international rail operator previously stopped at Ashford in Kent back in 2020.

News Group Newspapers Limited
Ashford International launched Eurostar trains in 1996[/caption]

However, this was paused that year due to the pandemic and is yet to return.

A petition has already gathered more than 60,000 signatures calling for trains to once again stop at Ashford International.

And it has since been backed by Keir Starmer.

He said in parliament, in response to Ashford MP Sojan Joseph: “I know this is an issue of considerable frustration to his constituents, the decision in question is ultimately for Eurostar.

“But we are keen to see international services reinstated to Ashford as soon as possible.”

A Eurostar spokesperson confirmed that the return to Ashford would not happen this year, but would look into it again in 2026.

Currently, the Eurostar’s only UK stop is at London St Pancras, where it departs and terminates.

However, it previously stopped at both Ebbsfleet International, with the first train leaving the London station in 2007, and Ashford International, which started in 1996 following an £80million project.

This means people living in Kent must travel into London, only for the train to come back through Ashford – doubling the journey time.

A return to Ashford could also reduce the congestion currently seen at the London train station.

And with new entry rules being introduced this year, a second UK stop could be vital to avoid overcrowding.

When Eurostar stopped at Ashford, it meant Brits could be in France in just one hour, with three daily services to Lille.

There are even calls for the Eurostar to stop at Stratford International, which despite its name, has never had trains to Europe.

Having opened in 2009, it had hoped to launch routes to Paris, although never came into fruition – thought to be because of it’s proximity to London St Pancras just seven minutes away.

And when Eurostar first launched, it operated from London Waterloo Station although moved to London St Pancras in 2007 following the new HS1.

Current direct Eurostar routes from London include Paris, Lille, Brussels, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

A direct Disneyland Paris route was scrapped in 2023.

Sun Travel's favourite train journeys in the world

Sun Travel's journalists have taken their fare share of train journeys on their travels and here they share their most memorable rail experiences.

Davos to Geneva, Switzerland

“After a ski holiday in Davos, I took the scenic train back to Geneva Airport. The snow-covered mountains and tiny alpine villages that we passed were so beautiful that it felt like a moving picture was playing beyond the glass.” – Caroline McGuire

Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen

“Nothing quite beats the Shinkansen bullet train, one of the fastest in the world. It hardly feels like you’re whizzing along at speed until you look outside and see the trees a green blur. Make sure to book seat D or E too – as you’ll have the best view of Mount Fuji along the way.” Kara Godfrey

London to Paris by Eurostar

“Those who have never travelled on the Eurostar may wonder what’s so special about a seemingly ordinary train that takes you across the channel. You won’t have to waste a moment and can tick off all the top attractions from the Louvre to the Champs-Élysées which are both less than five kilometres from the Gare du Nord.” – Sophie Swietochowski

Glasgow to Fort William by Scotrail

“From mountain landscapes and serene lochs to the wistful moors, I spent my three-hour journey from Glasgow to Fort William gazing out the window. Sit on the left-hand side of the train for the best views overlooking Loch Lomond.” – Hope Brotherton

Beijing to Ulaanbatar

“The Trans-Mongolian Express is truly a train journey like no other. It starts amid the chaos of central Beijing before the city’s high-rises give way to crumbling ancient villages and eventually the vast vacant plains of Mongolia, via the Gobi desert. The deep orange sunset seen in the middle of the desert is among the best I’ve witnessed anywhere.” – Ryan Gray

The Sun Travel team have given their top recommendations for each city you can get to by Eurostar by train.

And Eurostar’s January sale ends today, which has £35 tickets on sale.

Parenting expert issues a warning over a dangerous pram mistake in winter & five tips to keep your baby warm

DAILY walks in fresh air are essential – but how to keep your little one warm and safe, as the temperatures plummet in winter?

As Brits are warned to brace for a minus 16C cold snap today, one parenting expert has revealed how to make sure your baby is warm this chilly season – and a dangerous pram mistake to avoid at all costs.

A parenting expert has issued a stark warning over a common pram mistake that could put your little one at risk[/caption]

Kirsty Carroll, a parenting expert at Kiddies Kingdom, has listed five essential tips for keeping our little ones safe and toasty in their pushchairs during cold winter walks.

Sharing her advice, Kirsty highlighted one dangerous mistake that parents are often seen making in the winter months – covering the pram with a blanket.

While parents may think this will help keep their kid warm, it can actually be quite hazardous, potentially restricting airflow and making your baby uncomfortable.

Warning parents of the common error, Kirsty noted that this mistake could even put them at risk of overheating.

Keeping your baby warm

Kirsty said: “Layer up on clothes, as this traps the heat to keep your little one warm. A good rule of thumb is to give your baby one extra layer of clothing than what you’re wearing.

“A snug base layer, insulated mid-layer, and weatherproof outer layer are ideal to shield them from the cold. Babies lose the most heat through the top of their heads, so don’t forget a hat!” she told Daily Star.

She stressed that you should avoid covering the pram’s opening with a blanket, adding: “If tucking your baby in with a blanket, only ever go up to their chest, leaving their face exposed.

”A great alternative to a blanket is a foot muff, these are designed to fit into your pram or pushchair and sometimes have a harness for extra safety.”

Protection against the elements

A rain cover is also another essential to snap up for walks during the cold spell, as it will keep the little one dry and shielded from any harsh wind.

Keeping your baby dry and warm is a must in the winter season, as wet or damp clothes won’t dry out as quickly – and it can even put your baby at risk of hypothermia.

Reflective Accessories

If you pop outside for a stroll during the later hours when it’s already dark, then the evenings can pose a great deal of safety problems for parents with pushchairs and prams.

To ensure the safety of yourself and your child, Kirsty said: “Stick to main roads and avoid routes without streetlights.

“You can also add reflective tape or reflective patches to your pushchair to increase its visibility in low light.”

Sharing the tips with the publication, Kirsty reminded parents to not forget to also make yourself visible on poorly lit routes – and this is where a reflective vest or sash comes in handy for everyone’s safety.

More parenting hacks

IF you want to make your life easier as a first-time mum, here's nine hacks you won't want to miss.

1. Routine Charts

Create visual charts for daily routines. Use pictures and stickers to make them engaging for younger children.

2. Meal Planning

Plan meals a week in advance to save time and reduce stress. Involve your children in meal prep to teach them cooking skills.

3. Toy Rotation

Keep a portion of toys stored away and rotate them periodically. This keeps playtime fresh and exciting without the need for constant new purchases.

4. DIY Cleaning Solutions

Make child-safe cleaning solutions using vinegar and baking soda. It’s effective and keeps harsh chemicals away from little hands.

5. Time-Out Jar

Create a time-out jar filled with calming activities written on slips of paper. When emotions run high, children can pick an activity to help them settle down.

6. Educational Apps

Utilise educational apps and websites to make screen time productive. Look for ones that offer interactive learning in subjects your child is interested in.

7. Command Centre

Set up a family command centre with a calendar, key hooks, and a bulletin board. It helps keep everyone organised and aware of daily schedules.

8. Emergency Kit

Keep a small emergency kit in the car with essentials like snacks, water, first aid supplies, and a change of clothes. It’s a lifesaver for unexpected situations.

9. Label Everything

Use labels for clothes, school supplies, and lunch boxes. It makes it easier to keep track of belongings, especially in shared spaces like schools.

Reliable brakes

You must be able to brake your pushchair when needed. Kirsty advised to opt for a pram with practical brakes, recommending that you should best look for a model where both wheels lock.

Keep wheels clean and clear

The soggy weather conditions can quickly turn pram wheels into a muddy mess, making it a real struggle to steer your baby’s chariot.

To remove any wet mud, Kirsty said parents can use a hose or pressure washer, or a stiff brush with warm water and washing-up liquid to get rid of dry mud.

However, it’s not just the mud you have got to watch out for – the rock salt scattered on the roads and footpaths can also ruin your pushchair’s wheels with corrosion damage.

To tackle this, the parenting pro’s top tip is giving the wheels a regular scrub and spritzing them with a silicon-based spray to keep them spinning without a hitch.

Garnier have changed the game with their 36p spot patches that are TOTALLY invisible – even under make-up

They’re currently on offer on TikTok – and work out at just 22p a patch[/caption]

She began by asking if anyone could see the patches on her face, before turning her ring light on and asking again.

“Even with my light on, I still can’t see them. This is insane!” she said.

Victoria added that she’d worn the patches for the past eight hours, and struggled to even find them when it came to removing them.

“You can’t see them when you’ve got no make-up on,” she said.

“You can’t see them when you put make-up on top.

“They literally make your spots disappear. And they actually work!”

She then showed the “stuff” the patch had managed to pull out of the skin while she’d been wearing them.

“I literally love these things because one, they’re invisible,” she said.

“Two, they’re affordable.

“Three, they stop any more bacteria or make-up getting on my spot.”

And concluding her list, Victoria said that the other bonus of the patches is that they stop her from squeezing or picking at the spots.

“They are so good,” she said.

“I love these. I am obsessed!”

In the video caption, Victoria wrote: “I have never used a blemish patch that literally becomes invisible!!!

“@Garnier have literally changed the #skincare game.”

While the patches are on offer in Boots, they’re even cheaper on TikTok – coming in at just 22p a patch.

Biggest skincare trends for 2025

Face The Future’s Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025.

1. Exosomes

Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery. Whether in topical formulations or clinic-based treatments, they’re a gamechanger for targeting ageing and compromised skin barriers.

2. Streamlined Skincare

The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we’ll see a rise in hybrid products like CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF50  which combine active ingredients like ceramides with a broad-spectrum SPF50 for simplified, effective results.

3. Vegan Collagen

Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world in 2025, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums, designed to enhance elasticity and hydration whist catering to a more eco-conscious audience.

4. The Rise Of AI

AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level.

5. Hair Loss Solutions –

Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it’s no longer just something we’re talking about behind closed doors. In 2025, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health.

“Invisible and covers them! Wow,” one person commented on the video.

“These are such a great product to have for break outs,” another added.

“They’re the best!!” a third praised.

“Omg how amazing do they look!” someone else wrote.

As another commented: “Omg no one talks about the fact these stop you from touching your breakouts so no unnecessary bacteria gets in!

“That’s such a huge bonus in my opinion!”

“Literally a game changer,” Victoria replied.

“I swear by these! They are the best pimple patches,” someone else raved.

While another admitted they’d just “added three to the basket”.

The Traitors host, 52, has three children – and her skin always looks incredibly glowy.

And it turns out that she swears by a popular product for permanently dewy, hydrated and youthful-looking skin.

So if your skin is looking a bit lacklustre this winter, but you’re on a budget and can’t afford to break the bank on posh skincare – fear not, we’ve got you covered.

The brunette beauty, recognised for her iconic fringe, raved about a viral product that will ensure your skin looks glowy and youthful in no time at all – Skin Food by Weleda.

Claudia told Get the Gloss: “I am extremely keen on Skin Food by Weleda.”

She beamed: “It does what it promises. My skin inhales it.”

Not only is Claudia a fan, but pregnant Michelle Keegan, 37, and Posh Spice, 50, love it too.

Speaking to Women’s Health about her beauty routine, Michelle said: “I love Weleda Skin Food

“It’s heavier and I wear it at night, about three times a week.”

Victoria Beckham, who recently shut down surgery rumours, has also praised the cheap buy and admitted that she uses it on both her face and body.

Speaking to Into The Gloss, Victoria named Weleda Skin Food as one of her top beauty buys.

The pop star turned fashion icon described the product as “thick and buttery” and explained: “By the time I leave the house, I feel as if it’s really sunk in. Like my skin’s had a good drink.”

Claudia Winkleman

Not only this, but on Instagram, the beauty guru praised the buy as her “beauty secret” and wrote: “It keeps your skin so hydrated and moisturised.

“It’s really, really thick and I love how it feels all over the body. It’s a really great product.”

Top 3 beauty products every woman should be using

Hayley Walker, Beauty Expert at Justmylook shared the holy-grail products every woman needs to be using.

A cleanser, SPF, and hair oil are must-haves within beauty routines.

A cleanser is crucial for healthy skin as it removes dirt, oil, and other impurities for flawless skin. This skincare step not only cleanses the face and removes dirt, but also prevents breakouts and premature skin ageing, helping you maintain a healthy, youthful, and blemish-free complexion.

The Aveeno Face Calm+ Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser is a go-to of mine due to its gentle formula that soothes and restores the skin’s appearance and texture.

SPF is non-negotiable and should be in everyone’s daily skincare routine.

Even on cooler, cloudier days, our skin is exposed to the sun’s UV rays which can be harmful to unprotected skin and even lead to damage. These damages include sunburn, pigmentation changes, and wrinkles which can impact the skin’s texture and appearance. In some cases, prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause skin cancer.

Applying SPF daily prevents these damages and protects the skin from harmful rays. I recommend the Beauty Of Joseon Rice & Prebiotic Sunscreen PA++++ SPF50+ for its lightweight, non-clumping texture that absorbs quickly for a natural finish and maximum protection.

Hair oil has many benefits and should be regularly used. This treatment can strengthen and protect the hair from external stressors while improving its appearance and shine. Regularly applying hair oil can also reduce breakage and even encourage hair growth for longer, fuller locks. Hair oils also target the scalp, reducing dandruff and improving its health through exfoliation.

I recommend using this deeply nourishing treatment a couple of times a week or more depending on the hair’s moisture levels. The Hair Syrup Rapunzel Pre-Wash Oil Treatment is a nutrient-rich treatment that revitalises strands to promote a happy scalp and healthy-looking locks. Apply the syrup throughout damp hair before washing; massage from root to tip and allow the formula to penetrate strands before rinsing and styling.

The best-selling moisturiser, which you can buy from Amazon, Boots or even Waitrose, is designed with dry and dehydrated skin in mind but is suitable for all skin types.

It can be applied specifically to problem areas or all over the face and body too – and will leave skin feeling and looking great.

The formula is a blend of gentle, natural ingredients, including viola tricolor, calendula and chamomile.

It keeps your skin so hydrated and moisturised

Victoria Beckham

Not only can it be used as a daily moisturiser or an overnight treatment, but it can even be applied on dry hands too – making it perfect for winter.

And if you’re strapped for cash, fear not as little goes a long way with this product.

A 30ml tube will last you ages – and if you want to give it a go without breaking the bank, you’ll be thrilled to know that you can find a mini tube for just £2.99 from Holland & Barrett

Beauty fans beam

The affordable find has over 26,000 five-star ratings on Amazon, with shoppers loving its natural ingredients and ‘lovely glow’.

Several beauty enthusiasts claimed it’s the ‘best moisturiser’ on the market, whilst others called it the “holy grail of skincare”.

My beauty regime is incomplete without this product

Amazon shopper

One woman beamed: “I’m a woman in her 50’s going through menopause so as you can imagine my face gets extremely dry but this keeps it moisturised and goes under makeup lovely.

“I recommended it to my friends and they are all now buying this as it is very good value for money as you only require a small amount.”

Another happy shopper wrote: “This is the best I have ever had and from now on I won’t spare from it.”

Someone else added: “The more I use this the more I like it. I really like it for the backs of my hands and cuticles.

“Only a tiny dab is needed and leaves a lovely glow.”

Whilst another shopper expressed: “My beauty regime is incomplete without this product.”
