ITV in major schedule shakeup as Coronation Street is pulled off air AGAIN

ITV has thrown Coronation Street fans into turmoil once again with yet another schedule shake-up – leaving viewers fuming as the soap is pulled from the air.

With major sporting events taking priority, ITV has continually ripped up the schedules which has seen Corrie booted from its usual timeslots.

No episode will be broadcast this Friday evening at 8pm with coverage of the FA Cup live Aston Villa vs Cardiff City.

However, Corrie fans won’t have lost out on the episode altogether as they will be able to watch the next dramatic instalment from the cobbles a day earlier instead.

An additional trip to Weatherfield will be screened on Thursday this week to make up for Friday’s missing episode.

This week, fans of Coronation Street will see the truth about Daisy Midgley’s baby daddy as she makes a jaw-dropping confession.

And Ken Barlow is rushed to hospital in shocking scenes after collapsing in agony – but what’s behind his sudden health scare?

As the iconic character faces a life-threatening crisis, could this be the turning point that uncovers Cassie’s web of lies?

Meanwhile, Kevin Webster lashes out after receiving devastating health news.

His harrowing new storyline has seen the mechanic diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Having found a lump on his testicles, Kevin got himself tested after a pep talk from his best mate Tim Metcalfe.

Things appear to be getting worse, as the soap legend is set to receive more bad news in scenes yet to air.

His wife Abi offers to cancel her therapy session, in order to spend the afternoon with him – but Kevin won’t allow it.

Tim later finds Kevin in the garage and after offering support, Kevin’s hurt becomes anger.

In another heartbreaking storyline, Kevin’s sister Debbie is set to be diagnosed with dementia.

Viewers were left stunned when it was revealed last year how the legendary character was being killed off.

Most complained about soap storylines

Over the years, all three of the main soaps have featured plots that have had even die-hard fans reaching for their phones and laptops so they can get in touch with Ofcom and complain. Here are just some of the most scandalous…

  • EastEnders baby theft: 13,400 Ofcom complaints – Back in 2011, EastEnders was flooded with complaints when Ronnie Branning (RIP) swapped her baby for the dead son of Kat Moon. The storyline drew the most number of objections in the soap’s long history and saw it roundly criticised by campaigners – with 13,400 flying in over the course of the storyline. Some viewers called it “distressing” and “horrific” but Ofcom ruled the scenes were not “unduly disturbing”.
  • Emmerdale dog-napping: 550 Ofcom complaints – Back in 2016, Ross Barton and Charity Dingle came up with a plan to steal a dog and hold it ransom – but viewers didn’t like it one bit. The nation’s pet owners rose up, insisting the storyline would encourage copycats (not to mention copydogs). Complaints over two episodes totalled a staggering 550 and soap writers quickly learnt you don’t mess with animal-lovers.
  • Coronation Street double murder: 546 Ofcom complaints – Marginally less people complained about a gruesome double murder than objected to a dog-napping plot when Pat Phelan was at the centre of a spate of killings. First he forced Andy Carver to shoot dead Vinny Ashford – and then Pat killed Andy. All the bloodshed back in 2017 proved to be too much for some viewers, who lodged complaints in vast numbers about the “violent scenes”.
  • This arc will mark the end of actress Sue Devaney’s time in the ITV soap.

A source told Metro “It’s one of the show’s biggest storylines of the year and a real chance for Sue to finally get her time in the spotlight.

“It will just be devastating for fans that it will effectively be her final storyline.”

Coronation Street continues on ITV1 and ITVX.

RTE GAA pundit Joe Canning cracks self-deprecating gag while hailing Offaly ace Dan Ravenhill’s monster winner

DAN Ravenhill sent the game’s last puck over from 100 yards to beat Dublin – sparking wild celebrations as well as Joe Canning’s memory.

Offaly were aided by a red card to Conor Burke as they reeled in the Dubs at Croke Park by 0-27 to 1-23.

A 45-year wait hinging on one strike. Eight minutes of injury time are called, Galway fight back like true championsto trail by just a point, and at the death Joe Canning standsoer a free with the chance of drawing his team level. However, the distance proves too great and Limerick are the 2018 All-Ireland champions.

He couldn’t quite nail a free from a similar distance if a much tougher angle to equalise the 2018 All-Ireland final

However, they still deserve huge credit as they continue their wider upswing as they sit atop Division 1B with seven points from their four outings.

While recapping the match’s dramatic finale, Galway icon Canning harked back to when he fell agonisingly short in a similar situation.

The RTE analyst quipped: “I could’ve done with him in 2018!”

The Portumna man was of course referring to when his late, late free to level things in the 2018 All-Ireland final against Limerick fell short.

In a further call back to bygone day it’s worth noting that seven years ago Offaly came to Croker for the first round of the Allianz Hurling League and recorded a momentous 13-point win.

That win had lots of Faithful County supporters hoping it would
mark the turning of a corner.

Instead it proved to be a false dawn as they were relegated from the Leinster championship that Summer, and relegated to Christy Ring Cup hurling a year later.

This time, it feels like the graph is very clearly on the up for the midlanders.

They are now within touching distance of promotion to Division 1A, after Ravenhill’s heroics in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

The Boys in Blue now face a trip to Waterford next weekend, needing a win to stay in the promotion hunt.

For the next seven days, they’ll have nightmares about how they failed to cash in on a winning position at half-time here.

There were some nice aspects to Offaly’s hurling for that opening 35 minutes, with Oisín Kelly in particular catching the eye with three excellent points from play.

However Dublin’s hurling was slick and precise, and while it was an open game that lacked some of the physicality that both sides might need in the Summer, their use of the ball was excellent.

Conor Burke, Donal Burke, Fergal Whitely and Diarmaid Ó Dúlaing picked off some sublime points to help the Dubs to lead by 0-14 to 0-10, and after shooting eight wides.

He missed one goal chances and hitting the post with another, it could have been so much more.

    https://twitter.com/Offaly_GAA/status/1893397227034292632

Speaking after the game, Offaly boss Johnny Kelly said: “We were lucky to be within the distance we were at half-time, given the way that Dublin had completely outperformed us.

“It was just a change of attitude after half-time. Every one of them lifted their performance after half-time.”

For the third quarter, it looked like it wouldn’t be enough.

The Faithful men were excellent defensively, but they weren’t getting the scores they needed, and there was still four in it when Burke fired over a free to make it 0-21 to 0-17 on the hour mark.

    TIDE TURNED

Then Oisín Kelly hit another excellent score, Conor Burke struck Donal Shirley off the ball to leave Dublin down a man, and as boss Kelly cited afterwards, Offaly didn’t waste their advantage.

He added: “You have to be able to use that numerical disadvantage.

“It’s very hard to get messages into the players here in Croke Park so the key thing is for the players to take ownership of the
stage, and they did that, getting the last three points”.

    It was a sensational finish.

Brian Duignan caught fire, nudging them in front in the 70th minute, only to watch in horror as Donal Shirley’s brilliant block on Ó Dúlaing only resulted in the sliotar falling to Brian Hayes for the game’s only goal.

The sides traded points before Duignan (twice) and then Ravenhill sealed a famous win.

The current stadium, which is 15 miles away from the iconic Bernabeu, holds 16,500 fans.

But Getafe are set to modernise it and increase the capacity by 3,000.

They have plans to add a huge screen on the exterior, install a new roof to cover every fan on the terraces and put in 69 new state-of-the-art VIP boxes.

The stunning project will take two years to build and cost £39million.

Getafe face having to play away from the Estadio Coliseum while the work is being done.

The Madrid-based side have not confirmed their temporary location – but club president Angel Torres has promised big things.

He said: “It will be beautiful, modern, a small Bernabeu.”

The build is set to begin at the end of the season but could be abandoned if Getafe are relegated from LaLiga.

They sit seven points above the drop zone and there is confidence they will maintain their top-flight status for an eighth successive year.

Getafe’s ground was known as the Coliseum Alfonso Perez from its opening in 1989 until 2023.

But the former Spain striker, who never actually played for Getafe, was stripped of the privilege after comments he made about women’s football.
