‘Not married, just hungover’ Muireann O’Connell clarifies wedding confusion after boozy night out with Virgin Media Star
IRELAND AM host Muireann O’Connell has clarified she and her long-time housemate are not married despite fan speculation.
The popular presenter has been a mainstay host of the hit breakfast programme since 2021.
Muireann was joined by her ‘housemate’[/caption] Muireann shared snaps of her night out with Zara King[/caption]The 42-year-old has been in a ten-year-long relationship with her partner who she affectionately refers to as her “housemate”.
The pair got engaged to in 2021 and have since been looking for a house to buy.
Yesterday, Muireann and her “housemate” were due to head out for the night to meet friends for some drinks.
But, before heading out, Muireann spoke to her fans about the final episode of The Traitors.
She said: “Hi this is not a spoiler, but last night we were watching The Traitors and the housemate was on it, he was like, ‘OK it’s on half-an-hour earlier tomorrow night, we’ve got to be ready for it, wine in the fridge… that kind of stuff’.
“And then I broke the news that we actually have plans tonight and that we had to go out and he’s delighted and I won’t be looking at my phone until I get home later on.”
However, Muireann didn’t realise that Instagram’s auto captions had changed her referring to her “housemate” to Husband, which began a night long confusion for her fans.
As her night continued Muireann shared a sly snap of her partner and her sitting at a table at the Intercontinental in Dublin.
Later in their night the pair were joined by Virgin Media news reporter Zara King.
Muireann and Zara shared a stunning selfie, which she captioned: “She’s worth missing The Traitors.”
Muireann then posed for a quick snap in the five-star hotel toilets showing off her chic forest green top and midi skirt combo.
After her night out, Muireann took to Instagram this morning to address some questions she had gotten over the course of her night.
Still in bed and covering her face, she said: “Hiya, not married, just hungover. I must have used the word ‘Husband’ on a story and lots of questions.
‘MY HUSBAND’
“I do think of him as my husband. I’m just not spending stupid money for the privilege of saying it.
“We’re almost a decade in lads. We’re too lazy to look for something better.”
Recently, Muireann took to her Instagram to tell fans about her heartbreaking conversation with a builder as she hunts for a house with her partner.
The Limerick native spoke about the housing market and soaring prices over on her Instagram last night after watching the latest episode of RTE‘s Room To Improve.
Muireann shared a picture of her TV after watching the episode and said: “Ahh lads, you could feel the stress coming off Katie. So happy for them!”
The popular presenter was then flooded with messages from fans sharing their shock at the cost of the transformation.
Muireann took the opportunity to educate her followers on the high expenses it takes to buy/renovate a home.
She said: “A builder the other day was saying that building costs have gone up 40% in five years.
“Katie and Jason are based in Dublin and that is the reality they were handed with. You think they wouldn’t have wanted to spend €15k and be done with it. They would have had fine plastered walls and that’s it.”

PETER WRIGHT has got rid of all his trophies – as he looks for a major reset in his career.
Snakebite, 54, has taken inspiration from Luke Littler and Luke Humphries in a bid to challenge for another world crown.
Peter Wright is undergoing a radical rest on his darts career[/caption] The 54-year-old has been inspired by the rise of Luke Littler – and the way he plays[/caption]Wright enjoyed a mini resurgence at last month’s PDC World Championship after reaching the quarter-final stage.
The 54-year-old knocked out defending champion Humphries and looked back to his best at Ally Pally.
It came after a horror show at the Premier League of Darts, with Wright almost walking away from the game altogether.
The Scot endured a nightmare two-year run in the competition – winning two of 18 matches – and looked like a shell of his former self.
Wright has now vowed to have a total clearout of his prizes – and has hailed Littler, 18, and World No .1 Cool Hand as his inspiration.
Snakebite told the PDC: “I watched the World Championship after I got knocked out.
“Luke Littler and Luke Humphries inspired me with what they did.
“Especially Luke Humphries with what he’s won over the last four months.
“It proves what you can do and achieve if you put the hard work in.
“Luke Littler is the best thing I’ve ever seen on TV! That’s why he has inspired me to get my finger out.”

Wright decided to part with all his past trophies, built up over two decades.
He continued: “I have got rid of all my trophies, got rid of all my darts, so I can start afresh.
“I want new trophies this year. Last year was terrible and the year before that was terrible.
“But I’m looking forward to playing this year.
“I took time off last year and it didn’t work, we saw that in the Premier League.
“This year I am hitting everything again.”
