BBC drops bombshell report into Russell Brand & apologises to staff after star accused of rape and sex assault
THE BBC has apologised to staff members after dropping a bombshell report into Russell Brand’s behaviour.
The Beeb published the findings of an investigation into his time as a presenter for BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music.
The internal review looked at eight complaints between 2006 and 2008 with two made while he still worked for the BBC.
It found a number of people “felt unable to raise” concerns about the presenter and believed he “would always get his way and therefore they stayed silent”.
The corporation admitted an incident relating to him urinating into a cup during a Radio 2 show was “not dealt with effectively”.
In September 2023, a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches revealed four women had accused him of sexual assaults between 2006 and 2013.
Brand denies any wrongdoing and said all his sexual relationships were “absolutely always consensual”.
In response to the report, the BBC said: “When allegations were raised about Russell Brand in 2023, relating to his work at the BBC, it was important that this was looked into methodically.
“This work has been conducted with the greatest care.
“We want to thank the individuals who have participated, as we know that it has not been easy to speak out about some of the issues the review addresses.
“The review considered eight complaints of misconduct about Russell Brand, only two of which were made while he was engaged by the BBC, one formally and one informally.
“It is of great concern that some of these individuals felt unable to raise concerns about Russell Brand’s behaviour at the time, and the BBC has apologised to them as part of this review.
“It is also clear that there were compliance inadequacies on some of Russell Brand’s Radio 2 shows which led to content being aired that would not be broadcast today.
“Russell Brand left the BBC in 2008 following a high-profile editorial breach.
“As has been reported, there is an ongoing police investigation into Russell Brand.
“The BBC has been in contact with the Metropolitan police throughout the review and they have seen the report.
“The BBC acknowledges that Russell Brand categorically denies all public allegations made against him.”
Brand has strongly denied all allegations, which date from the height of his fame between 2006 and 2016.
Four women accused comedian and Hollywood star Brand of sexual offences including rape.
Brand’s YouTube account was suspended when the allegations emerged.

The new route to Rabat will begin operation on March 31 and will fly twice a week from Dublin Airport.
The journey to Rabat from Ireland’s capital is roughly four hours but can vary depending on specific flights.
Anyone planning a holiday to Rabat and other Moroccan destinations should keep in mind that the country is in Africa.

James Haskell slams ITV for ‘villain’ edit on ex Chloe Madeley’s reality show as admits reason for marriage breakdown
JAMES Haskell has suggested that his marriage to Chloe Madeley began to break down after they had a child.
The former professional rugby payer spoke out about his ex-wife who he split with shortly after filming an ITV documentary, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair.
The series shone a spotlight on the couple clashing as they navigated life as new parents – but James has criticised ITV for casting him as a “villain”.
Speaking on Spooning with Mark Wogan about co-parenting Bodhi with his ex, James said: “Chloe is an amazing woman, extremely talented. She’s made me a much better person being with her.
“Now we’re separated. We did that essentially because you want to make sure your daughter has the best possible life.
“I think when you have a child, you have a responsibility and everything your other wishes go out the window.
“As you grow in relationships, marriage is a really interesting thing, because a lot of people change, elements change, careers change, and you kind of, the confines of it mean that everything else grows but it doesn’t grow.
“So now the ability for us to co-parent is so important.”
Host Mark Wogan said: “The other thing that a lot of people don’t talk about, and they feel like they shouldn’t, is how much your relationship changed when they were a child.
“That puts an enormous strain on any relationship.”
James agreed, adding: “Of course. I think that’s why it’s interesting.
“We were very considered actually because we always looked at ourselves and were like, look, if you’re lucky enough to have children, and you should never take that for granted, but there’s a better time to have it. It’s not a perfect time, it’s not the right time, but there is a better time.
“When you’re financially stable, sensible, a relationship you’re working on.
“We want to make sure that our daughter has the best possible life.”
After James revealed the divorce rate is “52 per cent and climbing”, Mark added: “But 80 per cent of people who get divorced, if you ask them five years later, ‘was it the right thing to do?’, would say no.
“You two might end up back together.”
James laughed: “I mean, who knows? Chloe, I learn stuff from her every day.
“She’s incredibly beautiful, incredibly talented, incredibly good mum. And our life dynamic works really well. She supports me.”
However, reflecting on filming the documentary series, James said producers created a narrative to make him look like an absent dad.
“The thing about that was I was never meant to be in it. I never got paid to do it. It was something that Chloe got asked to do and then I sort of got halfway through, go, ‘oh, I see there’s the narratives being built here about being absentee or not being around or traveling or choosing music’.
“And it just wasn’t true. I am most hands on dad, I do everything. There’s no pink jobs, blue jobs, I’m onto everything.”

Coronation Street signs TikTok & Casualty stars as ‘nightmare neighbours’ set to ‘make life hell’ for Cobbles residents
CORONATION Street have signed a TikTok star as well as a Casualty actor to play the show’s new nightmare neigbours.
Amid exits galore, the ITV soap has snapped up two new faces to play brand new characters to fill the void left by the show’s string of high-profile quitters.
TikTok star Farrel Hagerty will be playing the role of Lou one-half of the nightmare neighbour duo set to throw Weatherfield into chaos.
She will be joined by co-star Joe Layton, who played Kayden in Casualty, in the role of Mick with the pair making their cobbles debut next month.
Mick and Lou Michaelis will make a living hell for their fellow Weatherfield residents but there will be one person who Lou takes a shine too straight away.
Lou will find herself bonding with Gemma Winter after the pair recognise each other from Bessie Street Primary School where Lou’s two youngest daughter currently attend along with Gemma’s quads.
However, their friendship may not remain so happy for long when Mick arrives on the 14th February and his true identity is uncovered.
Mick will turn out to be the ‘man with the van’ who has been harassing Chesney non-stop for the past few months.
Chesney has been left troubled by the mystery man who has been following him and seen outside the Winter-Brown home.
But, crucially, Chesney will be unaware that it is Mick who has been following him.
Speaking of her exciting new role as Lou, Farrel Hegarty said: “I’m delighted and so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street.
“I have genuinely been blown away by how ridiculously warm and nice everyone is.
“Lou is definitely an exciting character to play because she’s got good and bad parts to her, she’s a life force and full of beans. She’s a very colourful person who likes to make waves and try to cause chaos.
“But she also has that strong family loyalty, especially between Mick
and Lou, they are thick as thieves and will stick up for each other, even when they probably shouldn’t…”
Whilst co-star Joe Layton added: “Coronation Street is such an institute in British television and to get to walk down the
cobbles in Mick’s shoes is so exciting.
“To also do it alongside Farrel is awesome – we are having great fun together and connecting really well whilst developing our characters.
“It also gives the opportunity to get a look behind the curtain of this huge machine and be a small cog within the big picture of Coronation Street and to work alongside people who take
such pride in their work.
“It’s just a really happy place, friendly and welcoming. I’m going to
relish every moment of it.”

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.
This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.

The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.
Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw
After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.
Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe
Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.
Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster
In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.

It comes after a poll of 2,000 adults revealed the top frustrations driving people up the wall and how they try to mitigate these – even if they don’t have a butler.
With queue jumpers (50 per cent), spam calls (47 per cent) and spotty Wi-Fi (41per cent) featuring highly in the list of the daily annoyances.
Danny Dyer said: “Turns out, I know my profiteroles from my crumpets, and who would’ve thought I’d make a right proper butler.
“It’s all about serving up smiles and charm, which is what I’m all about.
“So, if your broadband provider is doing your head in, you need one that will be there night and day. Let’s ‘av it.”
The study also found 28 per cent claim connectivity issues, like disruption to their internet service, is also having a detrimental impact on their days.
With this rising to 51 per cent of Gen Z and Millennials.
But when it comes to frustrating connections, 36 per cent admit to sticking with a poor broadband contract, with 31 per cent of these citing process is too complicated.
However, 79 per cent went would find it useful having a 24/7 support system for switching your broadband provider.
Amber Pine, managing director of connectivity at Sky Broadband, said: “We know how busy life can be and it can feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day, which is why we offer our new customers a 24/7 switching support service, so you can get help whenever it suits you.”
