Moment 100-year-old building COLLAPSES in 60mph Storm Eowyn winds as debris lands just inches from terrified onlookers

SHOCKING footage shows the moment a 100-year-old building collapsed after being battered by 60mph winds during Storm Eowyn.

The red-bricked property which dates from the 1900s, stood on Ashley Road in Hale, Manchester.

But it was reduced to rubble after high winds whipped up by Storm Eowyn over the past few days buffeted the historic building.

Gales of an unprecedented strength left carnage and a tail of destruction in their wake across the country.

Trees were ripped up and roof tiles torn as many were forced to take shelter inside.

And the scenes in Hale were no different to the chaos witnessed in other parts of the UK and Ireland.

Cracks had already appeared on the historic property’s walls late last week as the structure slowly weakened.

The three-storey building, which has been empty for about two years, was last occupied by Atticus bar.

Michael Haworth, joint owner of nearby Porters hairdressers, caught the dramatic moment it collapsed on camera.

In the footage, a wall of red-brick can be seen peeling away from one end as gales from the storm swirled around.

Debris is then seen crashing to the ground causing a cloud of dust as shocked bystanders watched on.

Michael said: “I am one of the proprietors of Porters which is next door but one, and there is an Indian restaurant which is in between.

“My fire escape allowed me to get into a little alleyway from where I could get the footage.

“The building was condemned on Thursday. I believe the hairdressers next door, called The Knot, were complaining that their floor was cracking so building regulations were called in.”

Trafford council officers ordered the closure of The Knot Hair Studio and another nearby business, the Mouse House Print Shop, as a precaution.

On Friday morning a cordon was erected and the plan was for a controlled demolition.

Michael said the person who bought the building “was going to turn it into a private medical practice”.

He added: “It is an historic building and there is quite interesting architecture on the front of it.

“It was quite edgy watching it come down, especially being so close to it. I did wonder if it was going to come straight at me. Apparently the building has been creaking since yesterday.

“Quite possibly the situation with the building has worsened because of the storm.”

A design statement on the Trafford Council planning application site states that the work being carried out before the collapse would “retain the existing shop front main entrance and provide a separate staff entrance & fire exit on the side elevation facing onto Bath Place”.

STORM CHAOS

Storm Eowyn might have passed, but the damage it left in its wake is still very much here.

Some 1070 flights were cancelled and 50 supermarkets were forced to close.

And thousands of properties remain without power in the UK following Storm Eowyn.

The brutal storm damaged buildings, uproot trees and caused power cuts as it wreaked havoc over the past few days.

Ireland was hit hard by Storm Eowyn, with a record-breaking wind speed of 183kmh (114mph) being measured in Mace Head, Co Galway on Friday morning, Met Eireann said.

One person, Kacper Dudek, was killed when his car was crushed by the tree, which was uprooted in last night’s record-breaking winds.

The 20-year-old was understood to be driving in convoy with a friend before the tragedy.

A resident in Belfast dodged falling slabs as he tried to secure his trampoline in his garden.

Elsewhere a mum and daughter were only seconds away from being crushed by a flying metal shed.

Kate Moss’ very basic beauty tips – from using cheap makeup brand to veg hack, after being named ‘most beautiful woman’

GLOBAL supermodel Kate Moss has recently been confirmed as the world’s ‘most beautiful woman’ – but despite the star’s luxury taste, she’s got some surprisingly affordable beauty tips.

Kate, 51, was found to be 94.14 per cent accurate to the Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi – a measure of physical perfection.

She topped the charts, where she was joined by the likes of stunners Cindy Crawford and Gisele Bundchen.

And you’d be excused for thinking this is in part thanks to a super expensive and unattainable celeb beauty regime.

But now you can give yourself the beauty boost Kate uses – thanks to her most budget-friendly and basic beauty tips.

1. Kate’s juice cleanse boost

Moss is a mindfulness master, and uses this approach to all aspects of her life, including when thinking about her diet.

In 2022, she told Vogue  her go-to juice cleanse is the “Master Detox”, a week-long cleanse created by London-based nutritional coach and best-selling author Amanda Hamilton.

The cleanse requires you to eat no solid food, and instead consume only juice – supposedly giving your digestive system a breather.

2. Staying out of the sun

Despite being frequently spotted with a dazzling glow, Moss revealed she was once told by Charlotte Tilbury to avoid the UV rays.

“It’s because she’s a redhead, so she knows. I kind of ignored her, but now I’m taking no risks!” Moss told W Magazine.

And it’s no surprise that Tilbury had Moss’ best interests at heart – the queen of the catwalk has been the beauty mogul’s “forever beauty muse” for years, starring in campaigns such as her November 2024 Holiday campaign.

Moss has also been vocal about her love for Tilbury’s products, telling The Standard she uses Beautiful Skin Concealer to even out her skin and Charlotte’s Icon Baby warm nude rose on her lips.

3. No sunbathing

Although Kate admits she doesn’t avoid the sun completely, she says she’s stopped laying out in it for too long while sunbathing.

She said to W magazine: “Before it was like, ‘Lets just get as brown as we can!’ Now, well, I’d look ridiculous anyway.”

4. Always use a good SPF

Kate says the SPF works well underneath her makeup.

The supermodel’s go-to SPF is Invisible Fluid by La Roche-Posay, which is well known for its benefits to sensitive skin.

Kate described the product as “lovely and lightweight”, telling The Standard “it works well under make-up”.

5. Kate’s reminder to remove makeup gently

As a frequent in the beauty chair, Kate’s used to having all sorts of products applied and removed from her face.

But she says she’s always extra careful not to be too harsh when taking her own makeup off after being told by an artist at a Saint Laurent shoot.

“The makeup artist was like, ‘Don’t do that to your skin! Don’t pull it like that!’ And I’m like, ‘Really?’” she told W.

6. Tips from daughter Lila Grace

Kate’s close relationship with her daughter Lila has been well documented, with the pair frequently spotted together having fun.

But Kate said her now grown-up daughter “knows more” than her.

Clearly following in her mother’s mindful footsteps, Kate said Lila is “into natural, organic” products.

7. Don’t disregard old-school methods

Although her wildest partying days are behind her, Kate still sometimes wakes up with the same puffy undereyes as the rest of us.

She says the old school methods to banish undereye bags are the best – and insists they really do work.

The catwalk icon said she uses cucumber slices on her face when she’s working an early morning and “still asleep” – and for just 60p, anyone can give Kate’s nifty hack a try.

8. What are her fave products?

Kate’s perfect pout doesn’t come easily – the star says she makes sure she always has a lip balm to hand, to ensure she’s pucker-ready at all times.

As a Kerastase brand ambassador, it will comes as no surprise that Kate is vocal about her love of the brand’s range of hair care products – she even goes so far as to call them her favourite hair products.

In 2013 she was named the new face of the brand, and appeared all over their advertising with her iconic smouldering stare.

I’m addicted to sex with my boss, I thought I was in trouble when she shut her office door but she ripped my clothes off

A MAN has revealed that he is addicted to cheating on his wife with his boss.

Not only does the 42-year-old married man have email codes with his colleague, but they also rip each other’s clothes off and have sex in the office.

The 42-year-old explained that he and his ‘very attractive’ colleague rip each other’s clothes off and have ‘amazing sex’[/caption]

Unsure on what to do, the man, who is sleeping with his 38-year-old female boss, who is also married, took to social media to share all, leaving many open-mouthed.

Posting on Reddit, on the r/confession thread, the anonymous man, who writes under the username @badphilander, titled his post ‘I have been banging my boss for months at work’.

He then gave some context to the situation and explained: “I transferred to this office a little more than two years ago.

“We got along very well from the start, had a little flirtatious talk, eye contact, etc but nothing serious.

“We started going for coffee every couple days or so and it became a habit.

“Then we started talking more about personal lives and eventually were relating all kinds of personal stuff – marriages, kids, frustrations.”

But things quickly went to the next level when his boss asked him to go to her office at the end of the day.

He added: “I go in and she says, ‘can you close the door, please’. I’m thinking ‘uh-oh, what did I do’.

“Then she starts [talking] about she’s been thinking about something for weeks, asks me not to be offended, but she’s been thinking more and more about me and is very attracted to me and is there any chance I feel the same way?

“She’s extremely embarrassed and nervous and I am somewhat shocked, but I walk closer – I was thinking I would maybe pat her on the shoulder or hand and tell her to calm down, it’s no big deal.

“And before I know it we’re in each other’s arms kissing, then ripping each other’s clothes off.”

He confessed: “We did it on the couch in her office right then and there.

Four red flags your partner is cheating

Private Investigator Aaron Bond from BondRees revealed four warning signs your partner might be cheating.

They start to take their phone everywhere with them

In close relationships, it’s normal to know each other’s passwords and use each other’s phones, if their phone habits change then they may be hiding something.

Aaron says: “If your partner starts changing their passwords, starts taking their phone everywhere with them, even around the house or they become defensive when you ask to use their phone it could be a sign of them not being faithful.”

“You should also look at how they place their phone down when not in use. If they face the phone with the screen facing down, then they could be hiding something.”

They start telling you less about their day

When partners cheat they can start to avoid you, this could be down to them feeling guilty or because it makes it easier for them to lie to you.

“If you feel like your partner has suddenly begun to avoid you and they don’t want to do things with you any more or they stop telling you about their day then this is another red flag.”

“Partners often avoid their spouses or tell them less about their day because cheating can be tough, remembering all of your lies is impossible and it’s an easy way to get caught out,” says Aaron.

Their libido changes

Your partner’s libido can change for a range of reasons so it may not be a sure sign of cheating but it can be a red flag according to Aaron.

Aaron says: “Cheaters often have less sex at home because they are cheating, but on occasions, they may also have more sex at home, this is because they feel guilty and use this increase in sex to hide their cheating.  You may also find that your partner will start to introduce new things into your sex life that weren’t there before.”

They become negative towards you

Cheaters know that cheating is wrong and to them, it will feel good, this can cause tension and anxiety within themselves which they will need to justify.

“To get rid of the tension they feel inside they will try to convince themselves that you are the problem and they will become critical of you out of nowhere.  Maybe you haven’t walked the dog that day, put the dishes away or read a book to your children before bedtime.  A small problem like this can now feel like a big deal and if you experience this your partner could be cheating,” warns Aaron.

“We have now been doing this once or twice a week, always in her office (I don’t have one) – except for once in a server room – and either early in the morning or late in the day.

“One or the other of us will email a code phrase asking if it’s doable.”

Both of us feel awful about it. But we also apparently are addicted

Reddit poster

Whilst the pair know what they are doing is wrong, they are both ‘addicted’ to the ‘amazing sex’.

He admitted: “We are constantly saying we should stop, that each time will be the last.

“Both of us feel awful about it. But we also apparently are addicted

Which generation is having the most sex?

A new report has lifted the lid on bedroom antics.

The research, conducted by experts at Kinsey Institute at Indiana University, revealed the average number of times people of different generations have sex per month.

  • Gen Z – three times a month
  • Millennials – five times a month
  • Gen X – five times a month
  • Boomers – three times a month

“And I must also confess that the sex is amazing. A lot of it has to do with the illicit nature of it and the location I’m sure.

“I know it has to end and I know it’s very wrong but I can’t seem to help myself.

“She is very attractive and very uninhibited, not to mention a good boss in other (strictly business) ways. I feel lost.”

Reddit users react

Reddit users were left stunned by the man’s confession and eagerly flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person said: “This is an HR nightmare.”

Come clean with your wife. She probably already knows/suspects

Reddit user

Another added: “Hope you have other job options out there because you’ll be looking for them soon. Your poor wife.”

A third commented: “Man up and cut it out. You’re married, you have kids, and you have commitments you made to those things before this.

“If you can’t deal with those commitments then it’s time to get out. There is NO WAY this ends well -you get that, right?”

Whilst someone else advised: “Come clean with your wife. She probably already knows/suspects. Tell her you love her, and you’re sorry.”

Trump insists America WILL ‘get Greenland’ after fiery 45-minute call with Denmark’s PM as Danes now ‘in crisis mode’

PRESIDENT Trump has insisted the US will take over Greenland as he continues his land grabbing plans, reportedly sending the Danes into “crisis mode”.

His determined statement about the autonomous Danish territory came just days after a fiery phone call between him and Denmark’s Prime Minister.

Trump boasted that the people of Greenland wanted to be part of the US, he told reporters in Air Force One on Saturday.

The President said: “I think the people want to be with us.”

Trump has been putting the pressure on PM Mette Frederiksen as he floated the takeover plans before his second go at The White House.

Despite reportedly being told to “f*** off” by the Danes, the President continued his claims on the ice island.

He added on Saturday: “I don’t really know what claim Denmark has to it, but it would be a very unfriendly act if they didn’t allow that to happen because it’s for the protection of the free world.

“I think Greenland we’ll get because it has to do with freedom of the world.

“It has nothing to do with the United States other than that we’re the one that can provide the freedom. They can’t.”

Despite Trump’s determination PM Frederiksen insisted Greenland was not for sale or up for grabs.

The pair reportedly had an explosive and aggressive 45-minute phone call last week, according to the Financial Times.

Conversations between the leaders have turned sour despite Frederiksen agreeing to be more co-operative with army bases and mining.

Several European officials revealed the reported hostility in last week’s phone call.

One official said: “The intent was very clear. They want it.

“The Danes are now in crisis mode.”

“The Danes are utterly freaked out by this.”

Another revealed: “He was very firm. It was a cold shower.

“Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”

Prime Minister Frederiksen’s office however said it did “not recognise the interpretation of the conversation given by anonymous sources”.

MONEY TALKS

The determined commander-in-chief could have to echo his inner Don Corleone in The Godfather and make an offer they simply can’t refuse.

The issue of Greenland’s ownership was a major talking point at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Charles Gasparino from the New York Post said the general feeling at the event was that it would be a very hard move to pull off – but not impossible by any means.

Several Wall Street investment bankers claimed money could bring Trump’s seemingly outlandish plans to fruition.

They added that America was wealthy enough to make Greenland an offer it could not refuse – much like the iconic scene in The Godfather.

JOINT ATTACK

The President has not been the only member of his family to weigh in on a potential Greenland takeover.

His son, Don Jr, was dispatched to the ice island for an unofficial visit on 7 January.

ISLE TAKE THAT!

EXCLUSIVE by Patrick Harrington, Foreign News Reporter

Trump could storm Greenland and claim it within 24 hours in the “world’s shortest war”, analysts have revealed.

If Trump did invade, America’s military might would end the war in a day, politics professor Anthony Glees told The Sun.

Speaking to The Sun, Glees said Trump will be surrounded by “people who think he is great” – and it means he will be able to go ahead with any wild ideas he has.

Glees said: “In other words, we have to take him seriously.

“And if Trump wanted to take Greenland by force, he could do it in 24 hours.”

Ulrik Pram Gad, a senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies, told Politico that “there is no defensive capacity in Greenland”.

And it means it would be “the shortest war in the world”.

The conflict would present an “unchartered” situation after the US entered a pact with Denmark in 1951 to defend Greenland against any attack.

The US has a nuclear base on the island that is constantly manned by troops.

Kristian Søby Kristensen, a military researcher at the University of Copenhagen, said: “Who would the Americans be fighting? Their own military?”

Glees said it was likely that, in the event of a US invasion, “there would be no military response to it because it is unthinkable that any Nato member would attack the US”.

The younger Trump was pictured with some locals wearing MAGA hats in a hotel lobby.

Sources have reportedly claimed some of these people were homeless Nuuk locals who often find themselves outside a supermarket opposite the hotel, according to DR.

Local Tom Amtoft claimed: “It’s homeless and old people who can’t make ends meet who can suddenly eat at a restaurant they’ve never been to before.”

“All they have to do is put on a cap and be in the Trump staff’s videos. They are being bribed, and it is deeply distasteful.”

Despite this, Trump Snr could not resist hyping up his boy’s visit by uploading a glowing Truth Social post.

He wrote: “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA’

“My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights.

“Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation.”

X Factor star Cher Lloyd ‘takes swipe at Simon Cowell’ in new song saying she was ‘spat out’

CHER Lloyd appears to have taken a swipe at X Factor boss Simon Cowell in her new single after slamming the level of “control” over her music.

The popstar – often hailed an ITV show icon for her unique rendition of Turn My Swag On during her audition – finished fourth on the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010.

Malvern-born songstress Cher was then quickly signed to Simon’s Syco Music and hit the ground running with her debut single Swagger Jagger, which reached the number one spot in the UK charts in July 2011.

Yet just two years later, Cher revealed she had parted ways with Simon’s company and hit out at the music mogul, saying she couldn’t handle the level of “control.”

Now she has allegedly laid her feelings bare in brand new track Head Down.

The With Ur Love songstress – who released her new material eight days ago – can be heard singing the lyrics: “You sold me the dream, I was just seventeen.”

The Oath vocalist – who saw rocketing fame in America thanks to duets with stars including Becky G – was just 17 when she audionned for the reality TV show.

Cher added in the song: “All the tears I cried, you wasted my time and I still pay the price, I used to play your game and nothin’ seems to change.”

Previously, the mum of two took to TikTok to talk about her new release, which comes ahead of her performance at the Mighty Hoopla Festival this summer.

She said: “I wrote this song about when it feels like you’re the only one when it feels like you’ve hit a brick wall.

“The music industry can be dark at times.

“Some of the stories may never be told but mine is yours to hear.”

CHER’S POP STORY

Cher’s second single, With Ur Love reached number four in October 2011.

The singer’s version of Want U Back in February 2012 reached the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Yet in 2013, Cher revealed that she had parted company with Simon and his record label, saying she couldn’t handle the level of “control” they wanted.

She said at the time: “I don’t really speak to him anymore. I left his label a year and a half ago and I got my record deal here [America]…

“I have a specific thing I am reaching for, so I have my own idea of how I’m going to get it. We all have a specific thing in life that we want to get to and I don’t deal very well with people having [control].

“I think he found me – I wouldn’t say disobedient – but a little bit [difficult].”
