Parents of boy, 4, who died of sepsis after doctors told them to give him Calpol win compo claim

Daniel Klosi, four, was repeatedly sent away from hospital despite his family’s desperate pleas for blood tests.
The parents of Daniel Klosi, a boy who died of sepsis after doctors told them to give him Calpol, have received an apology and compensation[/caption]Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust has now agreed to pay the family an undisclosed out-of-court settlement and has apologised.
Mum Lindita Alushi, 44, said: “We take some comfort from finally having an apology from the trust, but remain hurt at the length of time it has taken.”
She and Daniel’s dad Kastriot Klosi, 51, took their son to the North London hospital four times during the week before his death.
On two of those occasions they were sent home with instructions to give him Calpol and ibuprofen.
Only after the family visited hospital twice in a day and waited four hours in A&E was he admitted in April 2023.
But Daniel, from Kentish Town, died a few hours later.
Investigators found staff did not read his medical records on one visit.
An inquest heard they did not order blood tests or give intravenous antibiotics.
The hospital said: “We are deeply sorry that Daniel died while under our care.”

SMART CASUAL (2.20 Plumpton, nap)
Sporting the famous green and gold silks of JP McManus, he has gone close on both spins over fences including when second at Lingfield last time. He travelled well there and was just run out of it in the closing stages. He goes on any ground and looks ready to get off the mark.
CITY CYLONE (7.00 Wolverhampton, nb)
He is looking for a hat-trick of wins at Dunstall Park and had lots left in the tank when scoring 16 days ago. He has been getting his head in front over 7f but has loads of pace so this drop in distance holds no fears.
INVINCIBLE NAO (3.50 Plumpton, treble)
He has been knocking on the door and followed a promising comeback run at Sandown with a second at Leicester last month. The handicapper has been more than fair with a 1lb rise in the weights and he looks capable of improving for this step up in distance. Soft ground holds no fears and he should go very close.
JJ MOON (2.00 Hereford, Lucky 15)
He put in much his best effort over hurdles when touched off at Wincanton last time. He saw out 2m4f strongly there so this extra furlong should be fine. Emma Lavelle is in top form and she can saddle another winner here.

Football host Jeff Stelling opens up about daughter’s battle with anorexia
FOOTBALL host Jeff Stelling has opened up about his daughter’s battle with anorexia.
He said Olivia, 21, got “skeletal” from the mental health condition and spent months in hospital.
Jeff said he faced the “heartbreaking” sight of girls in wheelchairs with no energy to walk.
In 2023 Jeff, 69, told how “a friend” was struggling, and his comments went viral.
He said Olivia was now happy for him to say it was her, and is doing well as a student.
Dad-of-three Jeff has spoken to Parliament on the issue and said: “The reaction was astonishing.”
He said the numbers who relapse is “horrific”, adding: “If they relapse two, three or four times . . . they say they’re going to provide a pathway, in other words we’re not going to try and save you we’re going to try and help you die.”
Last year Stelling promised go one step further than Gary Lineker if his beloved Hartlepool get to the Championship.
The departed host memorably presented Match of the Day in his PANTS after Leicester won the Prem in 2015-2016.
But that is nothing compared to the lengths talkSPORT host Stelling is prepared to go.
Asked whether he would emulate Lineker: “I would host talkSPORT breakfast without my pants in order for Hartlepool to get into the Championship.
“League Two would be fine, never mind the Championship.”
