Ex-partner in court charged with murder of ‘kind-hearted’ gran-of-five found ‘attacked’ in street

THE former partner of a “kind-hearted” gran-of-five found “attacked” in the street has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Claire Chick, 48, was discovered seriously injured in Plymouth, Devon, on Wednesday evening.

Tragically she could not be saved and was declared dead in hospital the following morning.

Her ex-partner Paul Butler appeared at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today charged with her murder.

Claire’s family were in court as Butler, 53, was remanded into custody following a short hearing.

He has been ordered to appear before a crown court on January 28.

A further hearing has also been fixed for March 3.

District Judge Stuart Smith told Butler: “These matters are going to be sent to the crown court.

“You will be committed into custody. You will have a hearing tomorrow at the crown court where a crown court judge will consider your remand status further.”

Claire, previously known as Claire Butler, worked as a lecturer at the University of Plymouth.

She was found seriously injured in West Hoe Road, Plymouth, at around 8.55pm on Wednesday.

Claire was rushed to hospital from the scene, but died of her injuries in the early hours of the following morning.

In a moving tribute released by police, her family said they were “devastated and broken”.

They added: “She was the most beautiful lively soul and was there for everyone.

“Everyone who knew our mum had so much positive words to say about her. She was the life and soul of any place where she was.

“She loved to dance and sing, even though she was pretty bad at it; she had no shame in doing it in front of any audience.

“We will never get over this as a family, she was our glue and our go-to.

“We won’t ever get the justice our mum deserves for this, because no amount of justice will bring her back.”

Vice-chancellor Professor Richard Davies said the university was “shocked and saddened” by Claire’s death.

He said: “Having spoken with Claire’s colleagues, I know that her contribution to Plymouth was significant and deeply felt – she was a respected nurse, lecturer and personal tutor, ensuring students were supported academically and pastorally.

“As associate head of school for international in our school of nursing and midwifery, she was closely involved in developing nursing programmes, students and academics in Europe, Africa and Asia.

“As a colleague, Claire’s humour and warmth will be dearly missed by academic and support staff.”

‘I’m not quite sure what he was doing’ – Harry Kane and Eric Dier make Bundesliga history but striker confused by pal

BAYERN MUNICH star Harry Kane and Eric Dier made Bundesliga history by registering a famous goal.

Kane, 31, and Dier, 31, go way back as they burst onto the scene during their time at Tottenham where they played together for nine years.

Now the England duo are playing at Bayern and have proven that their chemistry is still very much alive and well.

So much so that the two pals made history on Saturday’s 2-1 win at Freiburg.

Kane and Dier became the first ever English players to combine for a goal in the Bundesliga since records began in the 2004-05 season.

The England captain opened the scoring after just 15 minutes when the defender collected the ball on the right flank and fed his former Tottenham team-mate.

The star striker poked fun at Dier during his post-match interview claiming he was confused to see him playing so far up the pitch.

Kane said: “I’m not quite sure what he was doing in that position in the first place.

“Me and Eric are really good friends and it’s good to see him on the pitch.

“He’s not played a lot this season but whenever he’s come in he’s done really well. Eric was rock solid again [against Freiburg].

“I’m delighted for him that he picked up an assist and it was nice that it fell to me.”

Kim Min-jae sealed the three points for Bayern just nine minutes into the second half.

Freiburg hit back with Matthias Ginter in the 68th minute but the visitors held on and are now top of the table with six points separating them from second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.

Sky customers rage over ‘very disappointing’ change to popular streaming app on their TVs that now has ads

SKY customers are raging after noticing a much-loved streaming app on their account now has ads – and there’s no way to skip them.

The broadcasting giant warned customers two weeks ago of a change to the service and the unpopular move has started appearing on screens.

Movies like Top Gun are on Paramount+ too[/caption]

Viewers who subscribe to Sky Movies get Paramount+ included at no extra cost.

Paramount+ is home to the US studio’s huge back catalogue of movies, as well as TV series from its channels such as MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.

The platform also has a growing list of originals, with huge favourites like Yellowstone and its spin-off series, as well as iconic franchise Star Trek.

Sky customers with access to Paramount+ via their box or TV have complained about the sudden arrival of ads.

“We watch it quite a lot and have never seen adverts interupting the content until last night,” one user wrote on Sky’s online forum.

“Looking at my account it says I have Paramount + Basic with ads.

“I’m 99% sure that wasnt the case before.

“Have I missed something as I’ve had no warning from Sky as to this change.

“Is there a way to upgrade to a ‘no ads’ tier. It’s doubly frustrating as I also pay for ad skipping.”

The user then uncovered a page on Sky’s website detailing the shake-up and described it as “very disappointing”.

Another wrote: “I’ve just discovered this while watching an episode of Tulsa King.

“3 ad breaks of 60-90 seconds each.

“Very surprising, as I watched an episode of Lioness last night with no ads. I had no previous knowledge of this change.”

The move comes after Paramount+ overhauled its subscription offering, creating three different tiers instead of one.

This includes a new cheaper ad tier at £4.99, a standard plan without ads at £7.99 and a premium option with 4K available at £10.99.

In Sky’s announcement about the changes recently it warned customers that they will get access to Paramount+ with the ad tier going forward.

But one further problem is that households don’t have the option to upgrade to a plan without ads either.

“We’re not able to offer other plans at the moment,” Sky’s website says.

“If you’re already a Paramount+ Customer paying with Sky Marketplace, then adding Sky Cinema onto your TV package, you’ll automatically be moved to the Paramount+ Basic (with ads).

“We’ll switch this over for you at the end of your current billing period (we can’t do it sooner and can’t refund you for any time left on your Paramount+ Standard subscription), so you don’t continue paying monthly with Sky Marketplace.

“You don’t have to do anything, and your login details will stay the same.”

Paramount+ basic with ads via Sky allows users to stream on 1 device at once or 2+ Sky devices.

Paramount+ new prices

In November, Paramount+ announced a new pricing structure was coming to the UK.

Before, there was just one standard plan costing £7.99.

Now there are three.

The cheapest is £4.99 with ads, the ability to watch on one device at a time and only full HD quality – you also don’t have the privilege to download shows offline.

Paramount+’s new standard plan is £6.99 per month, allowing up to two concurrent streams in full HD and you can download content to watch on the go.

The premium plan is £10.99 per month, with up to four devices allowed to watch at the same time, as well as 4K UHD, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on selected titles.

I almost died when I got surgery at 17 but it didn’t stop me – I’ve spent £168k & lost my pals as they’re jealous of me

A SURGERY enthusiast has revealed that she first went under the knife when she was just 17 – and has now spent £168,000 on cosmetic procedures.

Bibi Bugatti, an influencer who grew up as a Barbie fan, always wanted to achieve the picture-perfect look for herself.

But that hasn’t stopped Bibi Bugatti, who has since spent over £160,000 on surgery[/caption]

She has been criticised for using filters on her Instagram snaps and has even lost friends and family members due to her love of surgery[/caption]

To treat herself after turning 27, Bibi spent £42,000 on “new boobs and a new face”[/caption]

As a result, she has had countless tweakments and surgeries, including fillers, Botox, breast implants, liposuction, two Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL), rhinoplasty and more.

Opening up about her unique look, Bibi revealed all to Truly, and shared how she has even lost all of her friends, as they are jealous of her looks.

On an episode of Hooked On The Look, the model confessed: “I’ve spent $200,000 [£168,000] over the last three years on all my surgeries.”

On her 27th birthday, Bibi spent €50,000 [£42,000] on “new boobs and a new face”.

It all came after she spent her teenage years in the Netherlands, never feeling like she fit in.

But after moving to Dubai, the content creator, who has been accused of using heavy filters on her social media snaps, cut off all contact with her friends and most of her family back home because they didn’t agree with her lifestyle choices.

She admitted: “All my friends start to fight with me, they get jealous of me. So I blocked all my friends from the Netherlands.

“The people in the Netherlands didn’t accept me for how I looked. They look very basic and very boring and they judge quickly about how you look.

“I still have contact with my family, only the closest ones accept me, but my other family don’t accept me and I don’t see them anymore.

“My parents don’t accept it, so it is very hard for me. I don’t want to fit in. I don’t want to be basic like everyone. I listen to nobody. I want to do what makes me happy.

And although Bibi “almost died” after surgery, that didn’t put her off.

The blonde bombshell, who has a Bachelor’s degree in real estate, claimed: “I think bigger is better. I do what I want. My look is like an extreme Barbie doll look and a little bit of Kim Kardashian vibes. I want to look even more extreme.

What are the risks of getting surgery abroad?

IT'S important to do your research if you're thinking about having cosmetic surgery abroad.

It can cost less than in the UK, but you need to weigh up potential savings against the potential risks.

Safety standards in different countries may not be as high.

No surgery is risk-free. Complications can happen after surgery in the UK or abroad.

If you have complications after an operation in the UK, the surgeon is responsible for providing follow-up treatment.

Overseas clinics may not provide follow-up treatment, or they may not provide it to the same standard as in the UK.

Also, they may not have a healthcare professional in the UK you can visit if you have any problems.

“I’m still not happy, I will do more. For my face, I did 10 surgeries two months ago – I did cat eye, eyebrow lift, cheek lift, my nose again, lip lift.

“The doctor told me I cannot do any injections. I hope I can do fillers because I feel my lips are too small now.”

And it’s not just her family and friends that aren’t keen on her look, as Bibi, who has 125,000 followers on Instagram, opened up on the online trolling she also receives.

She shared: “On TikTok, they hate me so much. They always say, ‘you look so ugly, I hate you’, ‘you’re too much, you look like a fake Barbie’.”

But although women online will judge her, Bibi claimed that men are the total opposite, as she boasted: “Guys just see me to show me off. I have guys obsessed with me and in love with me and want to marry me, but I have high expectations.”

Viewers react

YouTube users were left stunned by Bibi’s look – and mean trolls were out in full force.

I’d rather be basic than look like this

YouTube user

One person said: “She blocked friends because they are concerned about her. Most people would be worried if someone close to them almost died from vanity.”

Another added: “I guarantee no one is jealous of her.”

A third commented: “I’d rather be basic than look like this.”

Whilst someone else wrote: “It’s her body. She can do whatever makes her happy…even if it’s ridiculous.”

But at the same time, one user exclaimed: “You look so great!”

Meanwhile, one woman stressed: “She’s not hurting anyone I guess.”

Як вивести хрін з ділянки: поради досвідчених городників

Sophie Wessex debuts glittering £15k Chopard gift from husband Prince Edward after celebrating 60th with Princess Kate

BEING in the royal family certainly has its perks, particularly when it comes to extravagant gifts.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who celebrated her 60th birthday this month, recently dazzled in a £15,000 Chopard jewellery gift, thought to be from Prince Edward.

Sophie showed off a beautiful Chopard diamond set, which included stud earrings and a matching necklace and bracelet[/caption]

The stunning diamond set – which included a necklace, bracelet and stud earrings, could well have been a Christmas present from her husband of 25 years.

The jewellery items are from the ‘Happy Diamonds’ collection – and Sophie debuted them on Christmas Day as she went to church with the royals.

If they were from Edward, they appear to have gone down well with Sophie.

The hard-working duchess showed off the set again last Thursday on a visit to Sandhurst, the Royal Military Academy that trained up the likes of Princes William and Harry.

As she attended the Royal Corps of Army Music Dinner in her role as Colonel-in-Chief, Sophie looked sensational in a grey floor-length Erden “Lindsay” gown.

The dress, which features a high neckline and long, sheer sleeves was cinched in at the waist with a matching belt.

Sophie has worn the sparkly dress a number of times before, including during her 2023 Canadian trip, and she could have taken style notes from Princess Kate.

The Princess of Wales wore a similar Erdem style in a midi length at the UK-India Year of Culture launch event in 2017 that was hosted by the late Queen.

Sophie celebrated her birthday with a party organised by her husband Prince Edward.

The dinner and dance was held at Bagshot Park, the grand house in Berkshire which Edward and Sophie moved into shortly after their wedding in 1999.

Yet despite its grandeur, 120-room Bagshot has rarely been used by Edward and Sophie for formal entertaining.

But they opened up their home for Sophie’s black-tie bash, to which all members of the Royal family were invited.

Staff for the party were borrowed from nearby Windsor Castle as the Edinburghs do not lead an ostentatious life.

Their only everyday employees are a butler (whose actual job title is Household Manager) and a housemaid/cleaner.

“Neither Sophie or Edward are what you might call big party animals,” says a source close to the family.

Naturally included for the celebrations were the Edinburghs’ son James, Viscount Severn, 16, who is studying for his A-levels at the all-boys boarding school Radley, and daughter Lady Louise, 21, who is reading English at St Andrew’s University.

Sophie’s bond with Kate

Sophie has been a pillar of support at a time when the Royal Family was hit by two alarming developments – the news that the Princess of Wales was suffering from cancer which had been discovered after she had abdominal surgery – and the shock announcement shortly afterwards that King Charles was also being treated for cancer.

William especially was grateful that the moment she heard of Kate’s condition Sophie was in touch to see how she could help.

When Kate stepped back from public life, Sophie was the first to take on some of her engagements.

“That sort of pragmatism, a genuine desire to help and support someone who has been knocked off kilter, is pure Sophie,” says a senior royal source.

“It really helped William and Kate, obviously in a practical way, but also knowing Sophie could always be relied upon to give her support whenever it was needed.”

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh's 'humble' start in life

UNLIKE Prince Edward, Sophie comes from humble beginnings.

The daughter of a tyre salesman and a secretary, she was working in PR at Capital Radio when they met in 1987.

Edward was dating her friend at the time, but six years later they got together after a charity event.

Sophie continued to work for a few years after they got married before finally becoming a full-time royal in 2002.

“I remember our first meeting many years ago when she was just becoming known as Edward’s girlfriend,” former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said.

“I was lunching at The Ritz with one of the Queen Mother’s ladies in waiting when I saw Sophie at a nearby table. I seized the moment and introduced myself which was probably very annoying for her, but she was charm personified, and we chatted for a few minutes.

“And I really don’t think she has changed much since then.

“Yes, she and Edward live in a mansion, have titles and huge privilege, but Sophie has known a life outside those cloistered palace walls and she has kept her sense of perspective.

“For example, she has told her children that, titles or no titles – and they have chosen thus far not to use their HRH status – they should expect to have to earn a living.

“Sophie was happy for her daughter to take on a seasonal job at a garden centre for less than £7 an hour.

“And during the pandemic Sophie served as a volunteer with the Royal Voluntary Service, talking with people on the phone to help them combat the feeling of isolation – and she carried on talking with some of them after the pandemic ended.

“She will also often travel under the radar to places like Malawi, Botswana or Ethiopia to visit projects dedicated to promoting eye health and preventing blindness, and she does this from the heart after her daughter Louise was born with a squint.

“Sophie is one of the strengths of the new monarchy – elegant, engaging and empathetic. I think people have really taken her into their hearts.”

And that support was extended to the Wales’s children, with ‘Aunt Sophie’ arranging picnics and playdates at Bagshot for George, Louis and Charlotte, during the times when Kate needed to rest after her debilitating sessions of chemotherapy.

Despite their 18-year age gap, Sophie’s relationship with Kate – which has always been warm – has deepened in the last year.

Her support for the princess was evident on Remembrance Sunday, when Kate looked to be on the verge of tears at the end of the service at the Cenotaph.

Sophie simply placed her hand on Kate’s shoulder as the pair made their way from a balcony.
